Chapter 5

During lohri, Shagun traps Ishita and gets her delayed for the pooja. Adi meanwhile insists that Raman should perform pooja with shagun as they used to do the same earlier. Ishita watching all this at a distance feels unwanted. Raman thinking again Ishita has sacrificed, decides to perform the pooja. However he is determined after this, he will tell Ishita to stop all this and act as a wife. Ruhi watching all this feels betrayed for her Ishima and puts a stop to it. Raman decides to follow her daughter and goes in her search. Ishita thinking only Ruhi cares about her is sitting on a bench. Raman and Ruhi finds her sitting dejectedly and make her do the pooja. Once the pooja is over, everybody is busy with dinner. Raman tries to speak with her to ask what exactly happened but Ishita is not in the mood. Once everybody returns home, he pulls her to the bench and asks to speak up. Ishita doesn't know where to start but just starts blurting out "Aap kyun pooch rahe ho? Aap ko kabse meri fikar hone lagi? Aap jao aur chodo mujhe akela jaise hamesha chod dete ho?"

Raman blasts her "Mein akela chod deta hun? Kaha thi tum? Sab dhund rahe the. Mujhe laga aur ek baar mahaan banana ke chakkar mein tum chup gai ho. Phirse Adi ko khush karne ke liye"

Ishita realizing her earlier mistake says "Aisa maine socha bhi nahi tha iss baar. Mujhe aapki baat ek baar hi samajh mein aa jati hai. Mein waha kinjaro ke beech fas gai thi aur wo log mujhe chod nahi rahe the. Aur aapne kaha dhoondne ki koshish ki? Ruhi ne jab bola tab jaake dhundne lage?"

Raman was exasperated, "Arre meri maa, pehle tumhe hi dhund raha tha. Vishwas nahi to jaake pooch lo. mein akela nahi Romi, Simmi sab dhund rahe the. My god!! I can't believe this! Ye kya ho raha hai humare beech? Aur jab tum dekh rahi thi to tum waha aa nahi sakti thi? Apna hakk mangne mein kaisi sharam?

Ishita with her eyes full of tears "I was just feeling so unwanted. Aisa lag raha tha jaise mein intrude kar rahi hun."

Raman was feeling bad for her. He holds her hands and says softly, "Ishita, yeh tumhara ghar hai, tumhara parivaar. Why are you feeling unwanted? Maana maine galti ki hai, par tum hi to hamesha sudharti ho mujhe. Ab tum hi chup baithne lagogi to mera aur Ruhi ka kya hoga? You have no idea tumhara kya importance hai meri life mein. Isiliye aise bol rahi ho."

Ishita holding his hands closer "Pehle jab Ashok tha Shagun ke saath tab nahi lagta tha. Lekin jabse uski shaadi tooti hai, I don't know lekin darr lagta hai. Pata hai aapne kaha tha ki Shagun ko leke nahi aate ghar pe, lekin fir Adi nahi aata. Aur mujhe laga tha mein handle kar paungi. Perhaps I am unable to handle all this."

Raman getting her closer in a side hug, "Ishita, Shagun ko ghar lane ke liye mein mana isliye kar raha tha not because she is my ex wife but because she is a witch. Tumhe khud pata hai ki Ashok bhi kabse plan kar raha tha usse chodne ke liye just because she is a witch. Tumhe kya lagha hai Ishita, why I was so dejected after my marriage ended? Aaj ke zamane mein kitne divorces hote hai lekin sab sambhal jate hai. Aur mein bhi itna weak nahi hun. Meri shaadi bilkul bhi successful nahi thi Ishita. Ha pehle when Adi was born sab thik tha. Lekin badme Shagun ke demands pucho mat. Uske wajah se mein akela pad gaya tha. Sab se ladh raha tha yaha tak ki mummy aur papa se bhi. Usne jo chaha wo maine kiya, lekin na kabhi wo khush thi na mein. Jab wo Adi ko leke chali gayi, I was already on the brink of losing everything in my life. That was just a final blow. Maine shaadi isliye nahi ki kyunki shaadi pe se vishwas udd gaya tha. Usne mujhe itna neecha dikhaya ki mujhe laga mein shaadi karne ke layak nahi hun. Jab tum aayi meri zindagi mein, pata hai maine kitni koshish ki tumse door rehne ki. Lekin tumne mujhe sikhaya ki shaadi kya hoti hai, rishte kaise nibhaye jaate hai. And now, you are feeling unwanted?"

Ishita was feeling so lighter after Raman shared all this with her. She was so glad that Raman shared all this with her. She quickly snuggled near him and said ,"Kulfi khaane chale?"

Raman not understanding her mood swings just gets up and says, "Kyun black current nahi chahiye? Ab tumhare liye kulfi bhi laake rakhne padegi kya?"

Ishita gets up and says sweetly, "Lekin ghar pe sab hai na. Kulfi khaane hum dodno hi ja sakte hai?"

Raman likes the idea and quickly walks towards the car before anybody stops or interrupts them. He quickly goes to the nearest kulfiwala and buys her kulfi. They spend time talking nothing significant though they were happy. While returning home, a policeman stops them and asks for the papers.

Ishita being Jhansi ki rani at once questions back, "kya hua bhaisaab? Kyun roka hai? Na humne signal toda, na wrong side pe hai aur inhone drink bhi nahi li."

Police trying to act smart, "Arre madam, kuch galti karne par hi rokte hai? Hume humari duty mat sikhaye. Gaadi se bahar nikalye sab papers ke saath."

Ishita was annoyed as they had done nothing wrong. She quickly looks at Raman and says, "Raman, saare papers dikhao inhe. Sharif logon ko pareshaan karte hai. Choron ko chod denge lekin sharif logon ko tang karne ka zimmedari li hai inhone."

Raman tries to stop her and says, "Arre bhaisaab, kyun tang kar rahe hai? License dikhau kya? Jaane dijiye na, sir."

Ishita was fuming, "Arre Raman, nahi. Inhe papers dikhana. Gaadi ke papers, license, insurance. Sab dikhana. Dikhayenge inhe hun izzatdar log hai. Aur aap inhe sir bilkul mat kehana."

Raman trying to gesture her to stop talking, "Sir, ye lijiye license. Ab jaane bhi dijiye."

Police also realizes they are following the rules, asks them to leave.

But Ishita wanted to prove she right so she snaps "Arre Raman, dikao na inhe saare papers." She quickly opens the glove compartment and handed all the documents. She gave him car registration documents, license, insurance and PUC (No Pollution Certificate).

The policeman looked at all the documents and then at Raman in confused state and said, "Madam, ye PUC certificate to expire ho gaya hai."

Raman slapped his forehead and Ishita was stunned. "Raman, aapne renew nahi kiya PUC? "

The policeman started laughing and said "Arre madam, iska jurmana Rs 1000 hai. Lekin aap bhale log lag rahe hai isiliye jaane de raha hun. Humara kaam choron ko pakadna hai na?"

Raman hastily gathers all the papers and show gratitude to the policeman. Ishita was quite through the drive till they reach home. Once he parks the car he looks at her, "Kya zarrorat hai sabko lecture dene ki? Mein sunta hun na. Phir dusro ko kyun deti ho? Kabse ishare kar raha tha ki chup raho. Lekin madam badi mood mein thi, lecture khatam hone ka naam hi nahi le rahi thi."

Ishita counters back "Lekin Raman, PUC renew karna chahiye tha na. Aap ki galati aap ne nahi ki. Mujhe kya pata expire hogaya hai."

Raman enlightens her, "Sirf 2 din ho gaye hai expire ho ke. Jaane wala tha iss hafte renew karne lekin time nahi mila. Pucha karo naa yaar bolne se pehle."

Thinking about the incident made them laugh and started laughing loudly. He took her back home happily hoping he can always make her smile like this.
