Chapter 2
Shagun is acting all sweet with Ishita. She asks her ." Ishita, bohot khush dikh rahi ho, kya baat hai?"
Ishita replies smilingly " Bohot dino ke baad date pe ja rahi hun to"
Shagun acting more sweetly," Achcha ho gaya sab sort out ho gaya Raman ke saath. Waise Italian place ja rahe honge na? Raman ko Italian bohot pasand hai. Mujhe itna guilt feel ho raha tha, abhi achcha laga."
Ishita shrugs and asks" Kis ne kaha mein Raman ke saath date pe ja rahi hun? Have to hurry.. Bye."
Shagun's mind working faster as usual. She quickly goes near Toshiji and says" Mummyji, aap khane mein kya bana rahi ho?"
Toshiji uninterestingly" Chicken lollypop aur muttar paneer. Kyun? Adi ki kuch farmaish hain kya?"
Shagun acting all coy." Nahi nahi. Bas aaj veg kyun bana rahe ho? Aaj to sab non veg wale hain na..."
Toshi indignantly replies" Oye, meri bahu non veg nahi khati. Uske liye khas bana rahi hun."
Shagun intervenes " Lekin aaj Ishita date pe ja rahi hai.."
Toshiji all happy" Kya? Shukar hai mata rani ka, meri baat sun li. Lagta hain jhagda khatam aur romance shuru. Thike thike. Phir bhi ek baar Ishitase pooch leti hun."
Shagun dropped the bomb immediately. " Kisne kaha Raman ke saath?"
Toshiji all confused asked her." Matlab kya hai tumhara? Sabko apni taraf samajhthi ho kya? Kuch bhi bolti hai.."
Shagun trying not to smile and acting all concerned." Are nahi mummyji. Usne khud kaha.. Chaho to pooch lo. Woh Ruhi ke kamre mein hai."
Toshiji replying as if the news has not disturbed her." Badi aai hai mujhe samjhanewali. Tu ja."
Shagun goes smiling as she knows she has planted the seed of doubt in Toshi's head. Toshiji tries to avoid thinking about it but then she thinks if Ishita is angry with Raman, she might take any step. So she decides to tell Raman instead of Ishita. She approaches Raman and tells him everything.
Raman starts to laugh" Kya mummyji, aap kiski baath sun rahi ho. Us aurat se jitna door rahoge utna achcha hoga. Ishita appa ke saath bahar ja rahi hai."
Toshiji was relieved listening to this." fitte muh!!! Tujhe bataya Ishita ne? Sab thik hai na, puttar?"
Raman went all quite and answered" Mujhse abhi tak naraz hai. Bataya nahi usne lekin unki baat suni. Samajh mein nahi aa raha kya karu. Hamesha kuch aur sochta hun aur kuch aur ho jata hai. Hamesha, usko takleef deta hun. Woh kabhi kuch mangti bhi nahi lekin kuch nahi kar pata hun."
Toshiji understanding her son's troubled mind tries to help him. " Sab thik ho jana hai, puttar. Tu jyada soch mat. Us shagun ko kisiki bhi khushi dekhi nahi jati. Jab dekho tang adati rehti hai. Ishita ko time dena, who samajh jayegi. Ya phir tu Vandita se baat kyun nahi karta? Use to pata hoga Ishita ko kaise samjhana hai?"
Raman likes this thought. " Idea achcha hai. Vandita hamesha samajhti hai. Mein aaj hi baat kar leta hun. Thank you mummyji."
Toshiji glad she could help her son. " Oye koi nahi! Tu bhi tayar ho ja, mein khana tayyar karti hun."
The moment she leaves, Ruhi comes in running with Ishita following her behind.Ruhi was all loud and complaining to Raman." Papa, aap Ishima se kaho mujhe chodke nahi jaye. Mujhe bhi jana hai unke saath."
Ishita, wanting to spend alone with her appa, tries different tactic." Arre, mere appa world ke best hai. Isiliye mujhe le ja rahe hain. Tum bhi apne papa se kaho leke jaane ke liye? Dekhte hai kiske papa best hai?"
Ruhi wants to prove her father can be best as well. "Ha papa. Aap mujhe leke chalo. Hum bhi best father-daughter banenge."
Shagun is right outside the door listening to the conversation enters with Adi. Shagun has her plan all ready. "Ha, acha idea hai."
Adi understanding his mother's plan starts "Ha papa. Mein bhi kitne dino se nahi gaya. Hum sab family bahar jate hain. Aap, main, mamma aur Ruhi. Humari family."
Ishita just looks at them and walks away. Before she could walk away, Raman holds her back and says "Family Ishita ke aane se hi complete hogi. Lekin aaj use waqt nahi hai. Maybe some other day."
Ruhi chirps In " Arre maine best father- daughter kaha tha. Aap daughter thodi ho?"
Adi tries his level best to convince Raman."Whatever. Papa, Lekin mujhe aaj jana tha. Aap meri care nahi karte. Hum kyun nahi ja sakte? Papa please."
Raman considering Ishita's feelings decides to avoid the drama today. " Not today, Adi. Tum apne mamma ke saath jao. Aaj mujhe important kaam hai."
Shagun not wanting to spoil her good image tells Adi."Aise zid nahi karte Adi. It's ok Raman. " Adi stomps off the room. Shagun is also not much interested as Raman and Ishita are not together.
Raman decides to put Shagun back in her place." Shagun, shayad tum bhul gayi ho. Main yaad dila deta hun. Please knock the door before you enter. Aur Adi ko bhi sikha dena. Is kamre mein aane ke liye meri ya Ishita ki permission leni padhti hai."
Shagun just smiles and walks off. Raman looks at Ishita thinking she might forgive him but she just looks at him and goes to her cupboard. " Ruhi, Ishima ki help karo na tayyar hone mein."
Raman mutters, " Yeh madarasan aasan nahi hai. Vandita ko call karna hi padega" and moves to balcony. "Hi Vandita, kaisi ho?"
Vandita is surprised " Great! Kuch chahiye tha kya, Raman? Aise achanak phone?"
Raman sheepishly, " Actually kaam tha. Kya tum free ho? If Shravan bhi hai, toh kya main aur Ruhi aa sakte hain? Pizza order karte hain bachcho ke liye aur tumse baatein bhi ho jayegi."
Vandita amazed with all the planning." Pura plan ban chukka hai aura ab permission maang rahe ho? Chalo aa jao. Waise bhi Bala is not there. Lekin pizza veg order karna."
Raman happily" Of course! See you in an hour."
As Raman turned back, he saw Ishita in a plain designer saree which was looking ethereal. Ishita was sitting in front of the mirror and Ruhi was selecting her accessories. He thinks maybe she might go a little soft on him so decides to gift her earrings. He quickly asks Ruhi to get him a glass of water and goes near Ishita.
With dimples in his cheeks he says,"Ishita, tumhare liye gift leke aaya tha. Who lohri hai na kal to pehen lena. Hope you like it."
Ishita looks at the earrings and was shocked,"You took it back from Shagun?"
Raman quickly explains,"Nahi. Tumne diya toh mein kaise wapas maang sakta hun. Maine dusra banvaya ekdum similar. Tumhe achche lage the na earrings. Socha dekh ke khush ho jaogi."
Ishita gives him back the earrings and says,"Iske badle mein respect milega toh aur khush ho jaungi." She walks from there and goes to the drawing room.
Raman mutters," Jhansi ki Rani! Bohot papad belne padenge. Chalo, Vandita se pooch leta hun."
He follows her to drawing room where he sees appa was already ready and talking with papaji. He quickly walked up to them and joined the conversation. Soon Ruhi asked about their plans, to which he replied she is having play date with Shravan and pizza as treat. This easily pleased Ruhi and went to her room to get few things to take to play with Shravan.
Appa felt little guilty and spoke, "Sorry Raman. Tumhe bina pooche plans ban gaye."
Raman assured appa."you don't have to apologize. Woh aapki beti hai. Isme kya poochna? Aap mujhe sharminda kar rahe hain."
Appa took him aside and said "Raman, woh paise nahi liye to bura nahi laga na? Ishu ne diye mujhe paise. Usne insist kiya to na nahi keh paya. Hope you don't mind."
Raman reassured him "Bilkul nahi. Infact, main aapko job offer kar raha tha. Mujhe accountant ki zaroorat hai. Aur aap se achcha koi nahi hai. Abhi bhi available hai aapko chahiye to. Mujhe pata tha aap paise mujhse nahi loge."
Appa was happy thinking how much he respected him. He replies "I will tell you about it. Was there really a job? Ya fir mere liye job vacant ho gayi? Aur I hope tumhe koi problem nahi maine Ishu se paise liye toh."
Raman told him "Appa, job aapki hai agar aapko chahiye toh, abhi bhi. Aur rahi baat paiso ki. Toh I am proud of Ishita. Har bachche ka farz hota hai ki apne parents ki help kare fir ladka ho ya ladki. Aur agar har ladki Ishita jaise apne parents ki support kare to aap ke jaise kisi ko bete aur beti mein farak nazar nahi ayega. Infact, mujhe aapko thank you kehna chahiye. Thanks to Shagun, uski hasi chali gai hai. Aaj aap ki badolat dekhi maine. Enjoy karo, appa."
Ishita seeing their serious conversation turns towards them and interferes. "Kya ho raha hai? Sab kuch thik hai na?
Appa chuckles"Nosy, Ishita? Kuch nahi. Bas permission le raha tha tumhe le jane ke liye."
Ishita immediately replies."Aapko permission lene ki koi zaroorat nahi hai. Main pehle aapki beti hun phir inki biwi. Ab chale. Late nahi ho rahe? Ruhi, idhar aana. Bye bolna hai beta."
Appa was flustered. Raman slyly says "Ab pata chala Jhansi ki Rani kyun kehta hun?"
