Are Ruhi and Adi the same? Where did the yardstick apply to them equally? It doesnt when I see NOBODY in the Bhalla House going on an obsession-spree over Ruhi. It doesnt, when I see Ruhi being neglected for days together...just coz ADI, the Ghar ka Chirag is being fed and pampered and spoilt rotten..Ruhi would never DREAM of misbehaving with Ishita..or hurting her this way. Make her question her own identity in the family. And so, with that verdict, Ishita was reduced to millions of women in this country, who have to crush their self-respect and dignity every single day, "parivaar ki khushi ke liye". Nobody thinks about preserving the dignity of the Ghar ki Bahu. Its always, Ghar ka Chirag.
What was the need to give Ishita half a brain and a voice to speak up for herself, when she couldnt do EITHER, in today's episode? Where's that woman who gave a karara jawab to Shagun the other day? Where's that smart woman who could hold her own even when the WHOLE family turned against her during the Param episode? Disgusting.
Thank God, she didnt end up going ALL THE WAY to pick ADI up from Mihir's house...I think I'd have curled up and died on the couch itself. Cannot even start about Toshi ji. She is a hypocrite. She totally bought Shagun's crocodile tears and well-planned melodrama today...ALL because its 'ADI ke liye'..How can we EVER love her the same way, when we now know she's that selfish? When she HERSELF went to pick ADI up, and begged and pleaded with him, WHAT WAS THE NEED FOR ISHITA TO STILL SAY SORRY? Its basically..perpetuating patriarchy, isnt it? Coz ADI will one day grow up to be an arrogant, selfish, wife-beating MAN? Who has zero respect for women? Would she have done the same had it been RUHI? I dont think she even CONSIDERS Ruhi as 'Ghar ka Baccha'...sick..and disgusting...
And Raman? What have you reduced him to? Have you arranged a slot for when you want him to act on mute, and when to make him mouth EXAGGERATED melodramatic lines? I mean, all the while - from the day Ishita got ShAdi home, to the time she gifted her tablet to ADI, and the khaandani earrings to Shagun, to the time she even got the wedding cake..EVERYWHERE, RAMAN ACTED COMPLIANT ...no voice of his own...couldn't protest...was playing along, since it meant his own ADI-driven needs were being taken care of...and Now, just because Adi left the house, he again got back his voice...
Why didnt he OPEN his mouth today? Why couldn't he have stopped Ishita before she even made a move towards Adi? He was standing somewhere at a distance and could've easily said, "Ishita ruko..Tumhen Shagun se maafi maangme ki koi zaroorat nahin"..instead of SHagun playing this pathetic, dirty mind game...Instead, he first addressed ADI...So overwhelmed he was, at the sight of his son..and later, when Shagun played her game and tried to act all lovey-dovey in front of the Bhallas, all he thought in his mind was, "Yeh theek nahin hua...Ishita ko sorry bolne pe majboor karke humne use neecha dikhaya hai". So, does that excuse him? Make him earn my sympathies? Make him look a little less MCP than what he did, yesterday? NO.
The ONLY character who did and said something sensible today was Mihir. He told it like it is. He told Raman to his face, that he shouldn't be running away from his problems, that he's effectively ruining his relationship with a whole lot of other people, and ESPECIALLY Ishita, by harping on ADI. Raman is so confident that Shagun will NEVER come in between them. I DOUBT. She has, ALREADY. What does he want next? That she should sleep with him, to make him believe she HAS come in between them? Pathetic.
What's the use painting your characters in all greys? We're not gonna sympathize with either of the leads ANYWAY. Atleast, I dont. I'd have preferred if Ishita would've slept thru the day and not come down ...making an excuse about fever or something...or just wishing the members a happy Lohri and getting about the day...she could've told Toshi ji categorically, "Main aapki baat samajhti hun Mummy ji...lekin..main maafi nahin maang sakti" Would it KILL you, to show today's modern woman with a mind of her own, who knows what she's doing and isnt going to waste her breath apologizing to every Tom, Dick and Harry??
At the end of it all, at the end of ONE WHOLE YEAR..you're back to square one. Its like IshRa never got married. Its like they never did go thru the ups and downs, and thru it all, find each other. Its all hogwash. Coz at the end of it all, Raman to me, looks like the same man, from a year ago, who SACRIFICED everything in his life, running behind ADI and his affection...and most of all, demeaned and humiliated and let his WIFE down at every stage. He is the SAME man who's neglecting his wife and his other child, for the love of a son who will NEVER love and honour him the way his wife and daughter do. Feel sorry for this man. He really DESERVES to lose Ishita, and get back with Shagun and ADI, to have a taste of being humiliated. Each single day.
And Ishita, appears to me, a weak female lead, who could be more educated than all the Bhallas put together, and YET, cannot assert herself, for the fear of backlash and disapproval from her selfish in-laws. What awesome stuff you're airing. I must applaud you. Its such a proud moment for all women out there, who must be seething and getting al jittery inside, coz the same thing happens to them five times out of seven, in a week.
Maybe a woman has SOO much pressure on her...and has to think a thousand times before doing the right thing, before even protecting her DIGNITY, but that's also because there's a man, who didnt stand up for her. Who didnt have the courage to protect her dignity, at the cost of displeasing other less enduring people. I'm sure NO woman in this country, OR anywhere, gets married to be playing Nth fiddle ALWAYS to the husband's 5000 different priorities.
Its isnt Yeh Hai Mohabbatein anymore. Its Yeh Hai Nautanki. Yeh Hai Bakwass. Yeh Hai Melodrama. Yeh Hai Sardard. And maybe, Ishita was always 'All Heart and No Head' at her deepest core, but for me, there's no Raman anymore. There's an EX-Raman.
Yours Sincerely
A Thoroughly Disgruntled YHM Ex-fan
PRECAP - Ishima-Ruhi bonding. Seems like ages. And one line that Ruhi said that made me bawl my eyes out, "Ishima...Aap hi meri Mamma ho..chahe kuch bhi ho jaye...main AAPKO kabhi chhod ke nahin jaaungi..kabhi SORRY nahin bulwaungi..."
Maybe its cliche, but its true...there's no relation on earth AS sacred as that between a mother and a child.
