Part 4

She reached home with thumping heart, she didn't know what to think about the man who was her boss, he had been a mystery since she had stepped in his office, she felt that she knew him but then another second he was a conundrum, and it felt like she was walking in labyrinth around him, and he was yet very far away, always on a new turn, asking her to move on and find out, to solve this mystery, this puzzle!

As she entered her room, she was greeted two most wicked souls grinning at her, while one just jumped from bed and came running, and holding her excitedly took her to the bed and pushed her and both of the women sat infront of her in order to hear her, most expectantly.

While she just looked at then accusingly and glared and huffed, "What?"

"What? What Akka... Tell us everything?" Chirped Mihika.

"Everything?" she asked confused.

"Yeah... come on now Ishu, don't act, you spent whole one hour with most sexy and hot man in town, now tell us how was he? How was everything?" Asked Vandita.

"Akka! What do you mean by that? He is my boss... how do you think he would be...?" Ishita stood up, not liking the way her sisters questioning her about him, she was feeling uncomfortable under their scrutiny. And so she did what she thought was right then, she walked towards her cupboard and took out one of her favorite novel and walked out of the room towards her favorite place, the balcony, and settled in the swing that was hung from the brim and dived in the most perfect love story of all time, Parineeta also known as the Fianc by Saratchandra Chadopadhayay.

She had already read the story for more than fifty times but still the newness remained same, the essence of it overpowered everything and made her believe that love was possible, even she and Subbu had been childhood friends just like Lolita and Shekhar, but their love was not that pure to last long, a single tear tickled down her alabaster cheeks when she felt a hand on her shoulder, making her look up involuntary and she immediately wiped her tear away, and smiled in his direction and shifted on one side leaving some space so he could settle in too and said, taking a deep breath, "Appa... you are still awake? I thought you and Amma slept... Did we disturb you?"

While Mr. Iyer looked at his daughter, his beauty lovingly and said while caressing her head, "How many more times are you going to read this novel? It's already in tears!" and with that he chuckled, something that felt empty and then looked at his daughter whose head was dipped down, as if in surrender.

"You would get your Shekhar too, I am sure of it Ishu! Sometimes, we just need to let go of the past, the things which we just try to hold on sometimes they are not worth it, sometimes they are just the hurdles infront of the bright and love filled future that is waiting for us on the threshold. And if you are going hold your broken past to your heart than how you would you take a look on what destiny has to offer you... and you will thus always curse god all your life, not even realizing that, that same god was all the way giving you several reasons to smile, to move on, to start afresh towards the bright new future that you always dreamed off, that you always prayed about." Mr Iyer said and looked at her expectantly to say something.

"You think I would get happiness? Do you think he would accept me with everything? Even my inabilities, even with my incompleteness? Appa... this is not true, I know... this is my life, and its going to be old, uninspiring and lonely. I don't have much hopes regarding it... I know I am your daughter... but still you don't need to..." she couldn't complete when Mr. Iyer said,

"You don't know, life is biggest mystery and you won't even believe of what it has to offer you in every second of it. Don't make judgments in this vulnerable time, don't get disheartened, because you'd be surprised the very next moment of what life has to offer you... don't believe me Ishu, but you'd see it... I know, you'd be happy, more happy than what you ever thought to be..." and with that he stood up and turned to move and then said from the balcony door, "It's too late, you must sleep... you have to go on work too right?" and then he left leaving her mulling over the thought that he left in her mind.

Maybe, she thought, she really needs to take life on an easy note, maybe she should let go of the preclusive assumptions regarding her life and perhaps give god and life a chance to rewrite its destiny!

Next Day

It was strangely more beautiful morning that she had ever witnessed, that day she felt free at heart, something, some unknown feeling stirred in her heart regarding life, a feeling of content, like a space was built in her life to create now memories regarding everything. She was ready to write a new life, leaving behind all the crums of disappointing past, with one push she entered the beautiful glass building, her office, her destiny.

As she walked through reception meeting and greeting everyone on way, smiling like it was her second duty, radiant like she had got a new birth, everything seemed to ooze of energy, she felt need to restart and then while she smiled at Mihir from afar, she ran into him, the only person who halted all the plans, all the emotions and even her heartbeats. She looked at him wide eyed, smile wiped from her face while she felt like someone had pushed her back into the dark past she was running from all these years. Everything seemed to return, her broken heart, crumpled dreams and butchered aspirations, while he stood there smirking, looking down at her.

It was then that from behind the hound came a unicorn, bright as knowledge, beautiful as future dream and warm as love, like a savior, she didn't know but just in his presence life seemed to take a confident turn, like then she needed nothing more, no-one else by her side, his presence gave her a satisfaction and a warm protective feeling, and so much that even the hound standing infront of her, and his poisonous smirk felt nothing but a wavering illusion that had absolutely no place in her present and future!

She was surprised of her thoughts, she didn't know why she wanted to trust this man, but something in him, something in his eyes made her keep this faith in him, nothing mattered, not even the personification of her past.

She rather looked beyond the hound towards the only man, and was surprised to see the reflection of her own emotions, but not giving anything a second thought she came forward and greeted him with a sweet smile that surprisingly reached her eyes, "Good Morning Sir."

While he, too surprised at her reaction, just nodded.

While she looked at him and then at the hound and gave him a curt nod, and walked off, surprising him and wiping his smirk off his face.

It's good that you finally updated. I liked the scene where Ishita sat down on the swing to read Parineeta for the umpteenth time. It was nice how the scene started off gloomy and as Appa talked to her, it really did give Ishita new hope for a brighter life. Finally she's smiling from within and I hope this has some good affect on Raman as well.
