One shot- 'All of Me'The sight of the woman in front of him stirred emotions, he didn't know still existed in him. Long ago he had vowed to never let any one cross the barriers his heart had formed around and to never depend on any one beside himself but as if the harder he fought to save himself, the more he fell for her. She had proved him wrong time and again, when he believed her to be a gold digger she had returned him his most precious belonging, his daughter and also thought him how to treasure her. When he broke in front of her, she pulled him together and supported him, being his strength. When he fought against her, she supported the husband in him. She had been there with him, through thick and thin.
The last two days, however, had changed him. What he couldn't comprehend earlier came in black and white right front of his eyes. He couldn't bear to lose her. He knew he wouldn't survive with out her. He was still lost in his reverie when he found her stirring in her sleep and he leapt forward from where he was standing next to the window and fixed the pillow under her head and tucked her properly but not before kissing her forehead, his lips lingered a little longer than necessary and he couldn't help but run his knuckles along the side of her cheek.
"I pester you too much, don't I?" The words came out of his mouth before he knew it. "I know you deserve better, much better than what I am. I wish.. " he looked away as if she could see the remorseful tears on his eyes, "I wish I could tell you what you mean to me but I.. I promise if you'd give me another chance to start over I will bring the world at your feet." With that he took advantage of her current state and kissed her left cheek before claiming his place beside her to sleep.
She had just eaten an apple when she saw her maid showing up with a bowl. Her phone rang just then and it was none other than her husband.
"How are you now?"
"Nothing has changed in the last ten minutes Raman, I'm still the same."
"Did you finish the soup?" He asked.
"It has just arrived." She made a face after seeing another food item.
"What about the apple then?"
"Yes, I have eaten it."
She had sensed a change in his demeanor after her visit to the hospital, he seemed more concerned now. Not that he didn't care before but now he was not secretive anymore. She was still analyzing her husband's attitude with the bowl resting on her side table when the maid was by her side again with a glass of juice. Ishita lifted her eyes inquisitively but she already knew the answer, it was her husband's order ofcourse. This time, she called him instead.
"If the idea is to kill me with overnutrition, then I am not going to leave you this easily. "
"Promise?" And somewhere in his tone was seriousness, and not a single vibe of his usual jibe.
"Yes. Only if you promise me you won't ask nilu to force anymore food down my throat."
"Now that's a huge problem, I don't back down from my word wife. Can we find a middle ground?"
"Really?" She asked in glee, his words indeed.
"Yes. What are your options?" He was already thinking of a list of food she would say no.
"I might just hold your words against you then."
"Like I said, you have my word." He didn't sound so sure anymore. The woman was definitely up to something.
"Then I suggest you start by being honest for starters."
"I'm having a difficulty in catching up with you. What do you want?"
"Tell me what I mean to you." It was an innocent request. One which left him out of breath.
"Ishita.." He was taken aback. She couldn't have heard him last night but her words tell him another story. He took a deep breath before saying it, because he just couldn't afford to mess it this time.
"I.. I am incomplete without you." Those words were enough to have her eyes welled up. When she took long enough to reply, he asked her, "are you okay? I'm sorry .. I didn't mean to rush things.. You asked.."
"Will you come home early today?" She asked instead.
"Why?" It was his turn to sound perplexed now, her sudden change of topic had him worried. Perhaps he shouldn't have confessed, damn! Must he be so blunt always?
"Because I can't wait to start afresh with you." He heard her reply and then only remembered to breath again.
"Yes.. Yes I will." God, but he was the happiest man alive. And the reason behind was his woman. And his love for this crazy woman who, in minutes could turn his world upside down. The only one who could turn his most nervous moments into the happiest ones.
"One more thing." She interrupted his thoughts.
"Yes?" He had already decided to give in.
"What I have is the best. And I wouldn't settle for anything else."
"Ishita?"
"Yes?"
"I can't wait to be home."
"Neither can I." She was still smiling when she hung up.
The evening was about to bring new meaning to her life, new promises and new beginning and she, for one, couldn't wait for it.
Give me all of you
Cards on the table,
We're both showing hearts
Risking it all, though its hard
'Cause all of me
Loves all of you
