"Raman, please, hear me out. I did this..." "Enough Ishita, I know why you did this, because you are one of the most kindhearted person I know, but did you not think once about how I would feel seeing that woman here, not just in my house, but in my room, our room," " Raman, I understand, but," " No Ishita, you do not, if you did, you wouldn't have brought her here. Not like this. Not without asking me." Raman walked out without hearing what Ishita had to say. Seeing Shagun in his room brought back memories, memories that he had buried deep down the day she had left him for another man. As he drove around the city aimlessly, he couldn't help but remember the very first time he and Shagun had gone out to a friend's party after their marriage. She had looked beautiful that night, wearing a pale pink salwar kameez that he had bought her as a one-month anniversary gift, silver hoop earrings and her hair straightened - just the way he liked it. They had spent the night dancing, mingling with friends, and drinking and he will never forget how drunken Shagun had gotten that night, so much so that he had to literally carry her away from the venue. She had insisted that they walk back home and all the way back she chatted with him about her aspirations and dreams and everything that she wanted under the sun and he had walked silently by her side, listening intently, silently promising that he would fulfill her every wish, every request, no matter what. Raman slammed his breaks at that thought. "Damn it, Ishita. Damn, it! Why did you have to do this?" he swore and headed to the one person he knew would never let him down.
Ishita pranced back and forth in the living room unable to sleep. "Where has Raman gone? He is not picking up his phone and it's 4 in the morning. Muruga, please keep him safe. I didn't mean to hurt his feelings, I just did what I thought was right," Ishita said to herself. Maybe she had made a mistake bringing Shagun here, but what else could she have done. Shagun said that Ashok was ditching her, so there was no way she could have brought her there and it would be bad for Adi to see her in that condition as well. She could have taken her to Amma's house but knowing Amma, she would have refused and probably created a scene. She didn't really have a choice, bringing Shagun here was the best thing to do at that time and there was no way she could have left her in the living room either, what if Ruhi sees her in this condition and Ruhi's room was out of bounds as well and her angel was peacefully sleeping unaware of what was going on around her. The only place she could think of was her bedroom. What else could she do????
In the morning...
The Bhalla household was bustling as usual but there was an unnerving silence all around, something that was rare. Romi was upset over what had happened the previous day with Sarika and everyone else were upset with the unwanted presence of Shagun in the house who was still sleeping. The only person who was happily enjoying his breakfast and the current predicament of the house was Param. "Ishima, where is papa? Is he still sleeping? Should I go and wake him up?" Ruhi asked innocently. "No baby, don't disturb papa, ok. Why don't go over to patti's house? Mihika chitthi will take you to school today." Ishita answered taking Ruhi over to Amma's house. Just as Ishita came back, Toshiji pulled her aside and asked, " Where is Raman? I haven't seen him since morning." "Mummyji, Raman didn't come back last night. I tried calling him but he isn't answering his phone." Ishita said. "What? Raman wasn't home last night. Where did he go? Look at what you have done Ishita. That woman is sleeping peacefully and my son had to spend the night away from his own home and bed because of you," Toshiji tearfully said and walked away leaving Ishita feeling guiltier than ever.
Shagun slowly woke up with an awful headache and was feeling extremely nauseous. She looked around trying to make sense of the familiar surroundings and realized that she was in Raman's bedroom. She tried hard to remember what had happened the night before but the last thing that came to mind was her driving around in anger after what Ashok had said to her and stopping to get a bottle of tequila to soothe her emotions. She tried getting up without tripping over when she heard Ishita's voice calling out. She turned around and saw Ishita standing at the doorway with a glass of limewater in her hands. "Do you need help?" Ishita asked concerned. "No, I'll manage," Shagun said and slowly headed towards the bathroom when Ishita stopped and handed her one of her sarees along with a towel. "Why don't you freshen up and change into this? You accidentally spilled alcohol on your saree and its stained. Also, I have made some limewater for you, it will help with your hangover." Ishita said and left to clean up the sheets. After freshening up, Shagun came up to Ishita. "Thank you, but why did you do this for me? I mean, I have never been nice to you, why did you help me?" Shagun asked curious. "I know, but I didn't do this for you. I did this for Ruhi, no matter what our relationship is, you are Ruhi's mom as well and I will always give you the respect you deserve for that but don't mistaken my kindness for my weakness, Shagun. I will never forget all that you have done. I think it's best if you left now," Ishita said retreating to clean up the room. Shagun just stared back at Ishita and without saying another word left the house deep in thought.
