Raman wished Good morning to Appa, while his eyes peered through the back of Appa and glanced inside the open door, to catch a look of his wife but to his misery he was faced with Amma's scornful looks which scared him to death and he went inside his house thinking of new ways to talk to Ishita.
He shouted at Neelu for his morning cuppa, she did the needful, he took a sip and hated it, he took out his anger on the poor girl for the distastefull tea she had poured, it wasn't her fault really, It was Raman who had been habitual to the tea brought to him by his darling wife, but when that didn't happen, he had to take out his frustration on anyone else, After his encounter with neelu he was immediately reprimanded by Toshi ji for his unfair behaviour towards Neelu, Raman was unperturbed by toshi ji's words. He had bigger worries to fuss about.
He went to the washroom to take a bath and get ready for office, when he came out of the bathroom and entered the bedroom he was fazed to find his ironed shirt and pants with a pair of matching socks and an handkerchief laid on the bed. His happiness had no bounds, he rushed out of his room in his effeminate bathrobe and shouted " Ishita". He was mocked by Romi and Ruhi who were having breakfast on the table all ready to go for their daily routines, they giggled seeing his attire, he shut them up and called for his wife again. Romi spoke " Bhai! Voh bhabhi to chali gayi, she had just come to get Ruhi ready for school, she has left for the clinic and she told me to drop Ruhi to school, I'll do that and then come to office. Raman nodded his head and went back to his room.
He was disheartened to not see her in the morning like something was incomplete, he was sad that he couldn't taunt her in the morning and he didn't get to listen to her irritating voice always talking about some or the other family member. He didn't get his daily dose of wifey ramblings yet, though he did have a mischievous grin plastered on his face to see the clothes on the bed, he spoke to himself " kahan jayegi Madrasan! Do din ka natak hain, aa hi jayegi, kapde bhi toh rakhe hi hain" He fake counselled himself and left for office.
In the office :
Something was wrong, his work seemed too drab and he was disinterested in it, he just couldn't focus, he was yearning for just one fight, he didn't even want anything sweet just something like " You're the meanest boy in the world," I hate you", Murthal, Praanth, Kich bhi raman" He just wanted to hear these magical words and nothing else. Any other husband would never wish for something like this for his wife to say, but he just wanted those words or her anger, anything in exchange for this idiotic silent treatment she had reserved and also this Invisible act of hers, it had been 18 hours and he hadn't looked at his wife he was going insane with each passing second.
He again dialled her number, she didn't pick up, so he called her clinic, the phone was received by Sarika, He spoke " Hi sarika, ishita hain kya? Sarika spoke " hello sir! Ma'am toh hain but she's doing a surgery right now, I'll tell her you called." Raman said "no need" and enquired as to what time will the surgery end and kept the phone down.
He got idli and vada packed for lunch and alongside went to the saree store and picked a Kanjivaram which he didn't really like, but he knew she would and entered the clinic five minutes before the surgery was to get over. He entered her cabin and started opening the packages of Idli and vada and started setting them on the table when she entered the room.
He heard the opening of the door and welcomed her with smile and said " Hi, Ishita I was free for lunch, toh I thought tumhare saath karlu, I've got your favourite south Indian food, aaoo"
She gave him a stern look and shook her head in disapproval. He again spoke looking at his watch " Ishita, congratulations, tumhara Maun vrat poora hogaya, ab please usse todh do and poora maun vrat theek se rakhne ke liye, here's your gift." He winked and handed her the saree. She finally spoke " Raman, you don't have to do all this, I am not angry with you." He gave her a puzzled look, " what? You're not?? Then who are you pissed at?" She simply said, "certainly not you, but myself".
He furrowed his brows in panic and asked, " Ishita...I'm really sorr..! She cut him in between, please don't bother Raman, I told you I'm not angry with you, You did what you felt was right, you always do, It's me who thought things were different between us now, It was me who was crazily expecting that my husband shares everything with me, You're no way at fault, I was the idiotic girl who thought that I needed to know everything about my husband inclusive of his past, it was me who thought that my husband wouldn't lie to me no matter what! It's all me" He immediately spoke " Ishita, Please just hear me out! I just hid this fact from you so that you and your family don't feel bad, there are so many bitter memories between Shagun and Mihir and most of it has to do with me, and I just thought that why to bother you all with this when nothing really matters now."
She gave a slight smirk and added " Raman, do you remember you came to this very room about 3 weeks ago and you said the words "Ishita, be my strength!?" He said "yes" shivering slightly at that thought and remembering how Ishita had supported him then giving him the peace of his mind back and truly became his strength in getting Adi back on track. She said " You have no idea, the kind of happiness and contentment my heart felt that day, I was truly psyched to know that we've reached the bliss of holy matrimony and now we're just like Amma and Appa, It took us time but we got there, you shared such an important thing about your son with me, it melted my heart. Really! Her eyes got teary while she said that. Raman spoke " What is your point?" She said " Well, it was me over analysing stuff I guess, I thought our relationship had progressed in all spheres but you know God has his own ways to get you on the ground, I was flying above the air with nothing but joy to gleam with and he suddenly hit me on my head that I came tumbling down hurting my face, but mostly my heart in the process." Raman spoke " Ishita, trust me! I had no such Intentions it was just a silly thing, I didn't want you to bother yourself with. Ishita said " It was silly to tell me that Shagun is Mihir's sister? Is that what you're implying?" He said, " No. I mean, there were a lot of things that you don't know about them." She said ," Raman, who will tell me those things? Shagun, Mihir oh wait, maybe Ashok? Yes, I am sure he will be the one, because my husband doesn't consider me worthy enough to tell me anything." Raman said " Ishita, it's not that Believe me," She said. " Really Raman? Believe you? Trust me, I did with all my heart. And you know that's why I am slightly selfish about this issue, When I learned this, the first thought which came to my mind was how you deceived my trust and shattered me, not Mihika having to deal with Shagun being her sister in law, She's a strong headed girl and she's working with Ashok for crying out loud, Handling Shagun shouldn't be a problem for her. You know? When the entire Param incident happened with me, I realised what you meant by telling everything to you first and not clamouring about the humiliation I faced, in front of everyone, I should have told you first, you were absolutely right, my first relationship is with you and then your family and you're the only one who continued to be my diary from there on, I thought we were too close to keep secrets from each other that too such huge ones, Yesterday I was hurt, deeply hurt because I failed to get an answer to the fact that you lied to me and then realization dawned upon me, that it was I who had assumed that we're headed somewhere in our relationship where as the fact of the matter is I was the only one walking while you stood stagnant."
Those words pierced Raman, it him hard and he realised the intensity of the hurt he caused to Ishita by hiding this fact, he was extremely apologetic and he lowered his gaze.
She continued " Raman, It's actually okay, all these are my issues, you needn't worry, from here on, nothing shall change in your life, I will continue doing all my duties towards Ruhi and your family members. He asked glibly with a tinge on anticipation in his tone" and what about me?" She simply said, " You, too Raman! I shall do all my duties towards you. Nothing will change, don't worry!" She gave a forced smile and he knew Everything has changed, he has broken the semblance of the trust and love that had seeped in their beautiful marriage. He was a happy man now and only because of her and he had betrayed her by hiding something, though he had good intentions but lying is lying.
She said, " I really need to rush for another surgery, I shall see you tonight," walking out Ishita again cried after shutting the door and she walked out of her clinic and looked at the sky and the only words she spoke were
" I failed at Love, Twice"
