The seven steps around the sacred fire ... are the seven steps a person takes towards TRUST ... to trust so completely that nothing can shatter that belief in the ONE PERSON ...
The Love Story of Yeh Hai Mohabbatein
A bruised Man ... meets a Shattered woman ... the ONE BELIEF in life that holds us together ... is TRUST ... for both this Man & woman ... that TRUST was shattered ...
The man ... Raman Kumar Bhalla ... a young idealistic man ... who fell in love ..irrevocably ... he took those seven sacred steps across the fire to LOVE & TRUST a woman ... a woman called SHagun .. Their love was blessed with two lovely children a testament to their commitment ... & then one fine day that TRUST was eroded ... Shagun disavowed the vows ... shattered the trust ... abandoned the love & walked away ...leaving behind a focussed ... broken ... angry ... acerbic ... abandoned ... GROWN MAN ... a love which stood from a very young age ... a love which defined his existence he realised was nothing but a BUBBLE ... which with just a slight prick was left deflated ... the only thing left to do was pick up the pieces & throw them out of his life .
The woman ... ISHITA VISHWANATH IYER ... a young idealistic woman ... who fell in love ... at an age when being in love is fashionable ... her ultimate signal of love & trust she agrees to marry .. take those 7 sacred steps around the fire ... with a man called Subbu ... Subbu who was the younger brother of the ONE MAN ISHITA trusted ... the one man she upheld to be the ideal ... was it any wonder that in SUBBU she saw a reflection of her JIJJU ... the man who was totally committed to her sister ... she expected the same ... her ideal marriage ...where there would be TRUST ... LOVE ... COMMITMENT ... RESPECT ... but that was not to happen ... Subbu happened to have feet of clay ... at the first sign of challenge ... the love lay abandoned by the way side ... leaving behind a shattered ... broken ... abandoned ... emotionally cripple Matured woman ... The blow to her was two fold ... a crippling blow .. not only was the LOVE of her life out of it ... but she was scarred to her soul ... the bitterest blow to any woman ... that she would never become a MOTHER ...
Such 2 people meet & due to unforceen circumstances are bound in the most sacred of relations ... they become HUSBAND & WIFE ... as young persons they fell in love ... they fell in love with what they thought was PERFECTION ... only to be bitterly left shattered ... is it any wonder that the one thing that BINDS two strangers in a COMMITTED relation TRUST ... never existed between the 2.
If one is to see last weeks episodes ... between the song & dance routine ... between the shout & chicken routine ... between the eye locks & shy smiles ... the thing that stood out most was ... ten tentative STEPS towards TRUST
If one is to name the current track playing out in YHM then one would call it
The TRANSFORMATION OF ISHIMAA ..
TO ISHITA RAMAN BHALLA
In one past episode ... after another bitter round with Raman .. a very saddened Ishita cries her heart out to Bala ... & Bala at that point speaks to her ... saying that your 'kaccha aam" needs to ripen .. & when he ripens he will be the sweetest delicacy ... even at that point i found the reference to a Mango very interesting ... cause .. even the most ripened & sweetened Mango .. retains a measure of TANG ... & what better way to encapsulate Raman Bhalla than to a mango .. his sweetness is mind-blowing ...& his tanginess adds a special flavour to their marriage ...
lets c what happened in last weeks episode ... Raman walked up 2.5 steps asked ISHITA to TRUST him ... she tentatively gave her hand ... not happy about the fact that she was being asked to trust her bruised heart ... but still she takes the risk with a very heavy heart ... but interestingly Raman actually wipes away her tears ... STANDS TALL on her TRUST ,...,
Now prior to this they never trusted each other .. while each gesture was to lessen the problem for the other .. but they never WORKED together ... cause there was NO TRUST ...
In the whole of last weeks episode .. if one saw the saturday episode you would understand what i am saying here ... the first steps of trust ... the first steps to LOVE were taken ... they each want the OTHER to train Ruhi in Math .,... whoa whoa whoa .. DO THEY TRUST THE OTHER TO DELIVER on their most precious RUHI ... Interestingly ISHITA .. wants to share the LOAD with Raman ... & RAMAN KUMAR BHALLA ..actually wants his 'wife' to start behaving like a wife ... & moreso ... he actually thinks of her as a SUPER WOMAN ... a COMPLETE WOMAN .. who can manage career & house effortlessly ... DID RAMAN Actually ask ISHITA yesterday to become his TRUE LIFE PARTNER ??? Think about this ...
Similarly .. did ISHITA ..actually ask her husband to become her TRUE PARTNER ????
But the icing on the cake of last weeks episodes was the simpler nuances & gestures ...
The night when after talking to Romi Ishita walks into the room ... in the earlier scenes if u notice this ... Ishita & Raman have no conversation ... but this nite there was a conversation .. there was teasing ... there was a rounding up of the days events ... there was laughter .. there was the first tentative steps to love ... did u notice how Ishita held Raman's hands ...
Now cut to the next day & the "tuition teacher" fiasco ... amidst all the teasing ... jealousy ... irritation what was most interesting was the number of times Raman HOLDS ON TO ISHITA ... loving to get that RISE OUT OF HER ... forcing her in his own way to become his partner ... transform from ISHIMAA to ISHITA RAMAN BHALLA ...
Now go back to the bala & Ishita scene on "kachha aam" ... & think for a moment ... was the kacha aam reference only to Raman .. or was it towards ISHITA as well ... cause the analogy comes up after ISHITA actually does something for the Bhalla family ...
Yes u guessed it .. the kachha aam is not only Raman ... but ISHITA as well ... it is Raman's & ISHITA's acceptance of their TRUE RELATION ... its raman & ishita's acceptance of the fact that love can happen again ... & with maturity love becomes more REAL ...
Well another emotionally packed ... week ahead for YHM ... will be back on saturday with my take on the WEEK THAT WAS ...
