Hi Vidya

A wonderful update. and an alternate story that is genuine and very probable. Its almost as if I am watching a new show, thats how grounded yours is!

I loved these lines the best

"Though all shattered and broken, Ishita couldn't help smirk at the way he was coming home running to save this marriage which was build up on nothing but a pack of lies. "

"Two important men in her life had made her feel worthless and good for nothing. If one man had ignored her love and walked away, the other man had broken her trust and cheated her all along. "

And finally. I LOVE your Ishita. YOu are taking time to elaborate her feelings. She is currently in a vulnerable state. But I dont think she is weak. Her thoughts about divorce, anger at Subbu for lying to her, her realisation that Subbu's love and support may have been a lie, her anguish at how the 2 important men in her life disrespected her love are all so detailed and realistic.

I could go on and on Vidya. Its very easy for me to write about Raman, but I always struggle with Ishita. YOu have done such a good job (not just this part, but the earlier ones too) that I cant stop gushing like an eager fan 😃

Hello YHMians, back with a new part...not proof checked...so pls excuse errors

Thanks for all the likes and comments..every comment is a motivation to write more...thanks a ton!

Part 6:

Ishita had no other go but inform her parents about her decision. Nothing in this world could prepare them for this revelation. She knew that the world would just shatter around them when they hear of their daughter's decision of divorce but did she really have a choice. Well no, she wasn't going to be tied down to that cheater just to please her parents. Though they would be hurt and unhappy initially, they would surely support her in this decision but even then, there was something playing around in her mind. She didn't want a straight forward face off with Subbu. The heart break and the betrayal he gave her had literally made her think that he deserved more than a simple divorce. She wanted him to confess his mistake before her parents, before the world. Yes, though nothing could undo or compensate for the miseries she endured in the last 2 years, this was a small payback for what he did to her, for all the tortures she went through. She wanted this to make herself calm and feel less exploited. Her emotional and loving side seemed to have been vanished by the aftermath of Subbu's deceit.

She was planning something to torture him a bit and then get him to spell out the truth. She was willing to go to any extent for getting this accomplished.

Meanwhile, Raman kept trying to call Ishita for the next few days but she wasn't in a mood to pick up his call or talk to him. Basically, she didn't want this state of hers to be known to him. She hated both the men now. Raman's plate was heavier since she felt that he was indirectly responsible for her present plight. If only he had...Her thoughts ceased there. There was no use looking back now.

But he was confused as to what was happening at her end and why she was avoiding him. He couldn't guess the real reason but just assumed that she was embarrassed and shying away from him due to their romantic encounter. But he was not the one to give up on her now. He had to bring her around. So he decided to meet her somehow.

Subbu arrived and he came to meet her the same day itself. Before he came, Ishita broke the news that she wanted a divorce from Subbu but she didn't tell them the reason. She knew that such matters would bring up a lot of questions and speculation. The entire family on both sides were at stake and she didn't want everybody to suffer due to one person's mistake. Moreover, insulting Subbu for his disability wasn't on her agenda any day. Even in her cruelest revenge, she wouldn't want to do that. If she did, then what was the difference between her and Subbu's mom?

So that was totally ruled out from her list of to do things. Moreover, she wished a hassle free divorce by mutual consent. If she brings forth the real reason, she knew that Subbu and his family would make things difficult. They would emotionally pull her and her parents back or may be even fight against the divorce going by the desperate measures Subbu was taking to save the marriage.

Yes, she had to act, tell lies and do everything that she was alien to so far but then she had to do it. In no condition, was she going to continue in this marriage. She wanted complete freedom from the shackles of this relationship as quickly as possible. She knew what exactly to do to get Subbu sign the dotted line willingly and thats what she was going to do.

She would get her freedom from the clutches of this false marriage and then she would tell him that she knew everything.

As expected her parents were at a loss of words because of two reasons. One was obviously, she didn't tell them a reason for her sudden decision and two was that they knew that she wouldn't say anything off the fly without a big reason. So they were literally in a mid road situation and didn't know what to do or how to react to it. Ishita had literally dumbfounded them saying that they had to wait till Subbu comes. She said she had to talk to him in private first before she could say the reason. Her mother, being the simple innocent type whose world comprised of just her family and home could only think of one reason which seemed big enough. She whispered to Ishu's father as they waited for Subbu, "kahi Subbu ne kisi aur ladki ke saath..."

Her words stopped when her husband rolled his eyes and shut her up. Ishu's stare also froze her words at that. Ishita slowly replied feeling sympathetic for her mother's doubts, "kuch dher mein patha chal jaayega amma...but aap ek baat samajh lo ke its over between us...Iss shaadi mein ab kuch nahi bacha...jitne jaldi hum sab iss baat ko maanle, utna accha hai...but dont worry about me...It's my decision and I have taken it after a lot of thinking...So I am fine..."

Her parents sat like two strangers who felt like they were talking to a totally new person.

As soon as Subbu entered, her parents got up and began to show the courtesy of receiving their son-in-law with due respect but Ishita wanted this to kept simple and low key. So she intervened between their hospitality, "Amma, appa...let me first talk to my husband...hum itne din baadh miley hai...usske baadh you have plenty of time to talk to him..."

Her unusual talk confused Subbu because this didn't feel like the Ishita he knew while her parents understood what she was trying to say. They sat back on the sofa like obedient students while Ishita led Subbu to the bedroom.

She closed the door behind her after letting him in. She enquired in a near normal tone, "how was the travel?"

He was puzzled at her calmness and casual query. He expected accusations and a mad Ishu to welcome him but she wasn't showing anything. He just nodded, "hmmm...it was ok..." and he stepped forward to hug her voicing, "I missed you"

She felt creepy for the first time having him so close. Something in her body language gave away her discomfort and disgust. He parted a little and enquired in concern, "Are you ok?? Has the hot climate made you sick Ishu?"

She forcefully parted but gave a faint smile in response, "I am ok...I was just wondering about your sudden trip Subbu?" kya hua? Achaanak aise, huh?"

"Kyun accha nahi laga? I was missing you...toh socha ke surprise deh doom"

His words had merely left and she said casually, "You have become an expert in giving such shocks Subbu"

He felt suspicious at his casual yet accusing talks. Sarcasm wasn't her forte but today, it appeared all different. He wasn't sure why she was keeping things under control but he too wasn't up for letting go of his pride. Perhaps if she had become harsh and fought angrily, he might have even fell at her feet but now, he felt trapped between her calmness and sarcastic attitude. She snapped out instantly and said with a light smile, "I too have a surprise for you Subbu...or rather a shock"

Subbu prepared himself for what was coming but she threw him off his ground when she said, "I dont know how to tell you this but I cant keep it a secret anymore..."

She took a deep pause while he looked on in anticipation, "I love someone else"

He couldn't believe what he heard or rather thought he heard it wrong and cross checked, "What did you say?"

"You heard it right Subbu...I am in love with someone and I want a divorce from you"

That was more than what he could handle but he wasn't angry. He came closer to her and held her closely, "Ishu...you don't know what you are saying...I am sure its some sort of false notion...think about us Ishu, our life together, our home in Boston...we are a happy couple Ishu...I know you are fooling me, aren't you?"

She felt a unique relief seeing him like that and sensing the tremble in his voice. The desperate urge in him to hold her back and save the relation was very evident. Wasn't this her state all these years? Desperately trying for a baby so that she could keep their relationship intact and sail through smoothly! Only that, she was in darkness while he knew that whatever she tried, they wouldn't have a baby. He happily sat back enjoying her struggle and acting compassionate just before her. Oh, how foolish had she been! But not anymore!. She felt a thrill in her sweet revenge. She said with more determination, "No Subbu, all that I said is true...I am sorry for this but I don't feel guilty about it...In a way, it's good for both of us...I can never be the wife or daughter-in-law that you and your family needs...I know I realized this very late but as they say, its better late than never...I am sending across the divorce papers...just sign and send them back..."

He freaked out totally, "You cant do this Ishu...you cant do this to me...I love you and I am willing to forget and forgive all of this...just come back to me"

She snapped him short there and enquired in a slightly raised voice, "Why?? Why would you forgive me??? Have you done any bigger mistake that you are more than ready to forgive this Subbu?"

Subbu was at a loss of words there and Ishita expected him to blurt out what his mistake was but he didn't. He stood silent for a moment before he tried to convince her again, "Marriages can't be broken like that Ishu..."

She cut him short again, "What if I say that I overstepped that moral boundary?" He looked at her enquiringly while she questioned further, "what if I say that I slept with him?"

He looked at her in total disbelief and scrutinized her honest eyes which never lied but for the first time today, they reflected a lie which came as a thunderstorm to Subbu. He stood numbed in that revelation. This was the last straw that the man, the husband in him could tolerate. His male ego hurt and he looked away from her in disgust. His wife had betrayed him for another man and gone to such extremes. He didn't want her anymore. He couldnt live with such a woman any more.

Ishu smirked as he turned away. That disgust for her in his eyes was actually giving her peace. Yes it was weird and strange for her to feel that way but then, human minds and emotions are unbelievable at times. She knew she had won in her game. She could sense how torturous her words were on him. He was virtually lashed by her and she felt good.

He had nothing more to say or perhaps he needed some time to compose himself and recover from the biggest shock of his life.

He walked out of the room and she followed him after a second. He stopped in his tracks seeing Raman there. Anger flushed all through him as something told him that Raman was the guy in his wife's life. His intuitions made more sense to him as her parents stood up the same instant and rushed to their side enquiring, "Ishu, yeh Raman kya keh raha hai?? woh tumse shaadi karna chaahta hai?? aur Subbu??"

Her mother also added in worry, "aiyoo murugan...hum dono se chupaake kya chal raha hai?? Subbu beta, yeh sab kya hai? main meri Ishu jaanthi hoom...woh aise kuch nahi karegi..."

Subbu sarcastically broke their talk and commented, "Yeh dono bohat aage nikal chuke hai amma...Get them married at the earliest...main back off kar loonga...Just send me the papers Ishita"

Ishu was gone now for Subbu, he made it formal by addressing her as Ishita. She couldn't help chuckle at the irony. He had the audacity to react this way to her so called mistake as if he was an innocent victim of her betrayal but even then, she just stood her stand and nodded, "hmmm"

Subbu stormed off from the house though her parents went behind to stop him telling him that they would talk and settle this issue but he didn't wait a second more.

After Subbu left, Ishita's focus turned to Raman wondering why he was here and what nonsense had he told to her parents. For the first time in life, Ishita had lied but she didn't regret though she felt being a part of a drama. She was a little sad that she had to do such game plans and hurt her parents in the process but her logical side knew that she had done it all right.

Raman, on the other hand was smiling and expecting her to tell something. He was under the impression that she had opted for a divorce for him, to get back to him. That is why when her parents told him anxiously about her sudden decision of separation from Subbu and also that she was talking with Subbu, he just impulsively took a brave decision to stand by her. He thought he would make it easier for her by letting her parents know that he was with her in her decision and would always be there for her.

But now, Ishita's glaring, accusing eyes told him a different story though...

[To be continued]

how was it?? pls do reply...

Ishita really went out of her way to get the divorce but then she wanted to get out asap...

yay you updated!
Ishita really went out of her way to get subbu to admit his deception, but he held his ground even then! maybe, somewhere he does have a guilty conscious, that is why he agreed to a divorce so easily. I can't wait until ishita confronts him about the real reason why she wants a divorce from him.
