I agree in that their behaviour was bad, but you have to look at it from their side as well.
Raman and Shagun's divorce basically destroyed Raman and his relationship with his family. He didn't spend too much time with his daughter. His dad and he were at constant loggerheads and generally Raman had hardened into a shell. Can you imagine if Simmi went through the same thing? She's probably even more emotionally fragile than Raman. It would destroy her. And unlike how Raman has started softening because of Ishita, who knows if Simmi will find someone to soften her? And plus within Indian culture, its easier to find a mother for a child rather than a father for a child. As a mother, Toshi is kind of in the right. She will want to protect her child at all costs, even if that means denying the truth from herself and treating the whistle-blower badly. So while I'm not Toshi ji's biggest fan, I can see where she is coming from.
Simmi is in the same boat. She thinks the world of her husband. She even has a child with him. While she may be better off without him in the long term, all she can see is the short-term future without him that does not look as promising.
Plus Parmeet as ALWAYS been the good damad. He has played that role to perfection. Probably even better than Raman because despite his good deeds, Raman can be rude to his in-laws. Parmeet has always been very well-mannered and kind. The entire family thinks the world of him. There's no way they could he even imagine him turning out to be a creep.
And then its his word against Ishita's. We all know that Ishita is a very truthful woman who always stands up for what she thinks is right. Raman knows that as well. I'm not quite sure if Toshi or Simmi know that. They haven't spent too much time with her and even then they don't feel the need to do so. Whereas we know Parmeet is bad news, but they don't. He's only ever been the good damad.
This entire situation is really difficult for both parties. Infidelty is a HUGE issue for the Bhalla's. There is so much baggage attached to that word and act for them. So obviously they will try to do anything to prevent it from happening. And Ishita does not know about the depth of emotions that come with that word for the Bhalla's.
So I don't think its too easy of a situation to resolve. As for the forgiving, I wouldn't necessarily mind it if Ishita forgave them early as long as the entire situation is explained to her. Both parties are in the right in their eyes.
