I was thinking the exact same thing. Bhenji was translated as "uncool" in the subtitles and usually in shows/movies/other sources of media, 'bhenji' is considered someone bespectacled and unpopular. I think Shagun considers her one because Ishita's existence doesn't revolve around spas, kitty parties and looking glamorous. Her life is beyond that. Like other comments implied, Ishita is an independent, hard-working and lovable person. Might I add, rather eloquent and attractive (both externally and internally) than Shagun will ever be.

You are correct in telling

She is an educated, strong woman and a dentist too...!! She has a nice practice going on and looks so good each and every day in what ever she wears...!! She has her own style..!

I feel just by wearing dresses and all does not mean you wont be a bhenji...!!

People like Shagun know internally that Ishita is way above them in all qualities and they can never match Ishita in being a good human being.

To satisfy their mental ego they mock that Ishita is Bhenji type.

Thanks for liking the post...!! 😊 😊
I completely agree with you also. 😊 😊.. the highlighted part...😊 😊 totally people like Shagun to satify their mental ego mock people like Ishita and say that they are Bhenji type...just to make themselves look good...!!

Oh if Ishita is a Bhenji, I would love to be called as a Bhenji too! If Shagun is a fashionista, I never would want to be her!

I just can't get it yaar. In many Hindi shows, if the heroine is simple dressed up she is called Behenji. What type of message they want to give to the audience that outer beauty makes a person charming???
BTW, nice post😊.

thanks for liking my post...I know I dont get it too...why and what type of message are they giving the audiience...but I think they want us to make a judgement by comapring the two types as to who is the better one...and of course I will go with the bhenji...!! 😊 😊

So true...but since it keeps coming in our show and Ishita is the one being called that so the question was put in such a way...but I totally agree with you about the highlighted part...!!

Ishita is not that behenji maybe because she wears less expensives sarees than her Shagun call her behenji...or maybe attitude of her...but she is herself not that modern... i mean she does not work and neither she wear much westerns cloths...
If i look at myself or at my mom i would call both behenji 😆 because even at home we only wear westerns cloths and we lives on our own not with a man for support
But after all they lives in india
But what i like in ishu is that she is independent if raman leave her today(i not want so) she will live on her own and she wont take any other man's support like shagun did

I posted something on another post that discusses the same subject

Here it is

"My 2 cents;

the word behenji is supposed to represent someone who has no sense of style, which incorrectly also implies that they have an old-fashioned outlook towards life

a 'behenji' wouldnt decide to adopt and raise a child as a single parent
a 'behenji' wouldnt drive around in a curfew
a 'behenji' wouldnt tackle problems on her own, without needed the protective cover of a man

She cannot find anything bad to say about Ishita's personality, so naturally she attacks her looks. only because her blouse cuts arent modern, and her sarees are traditional.

Bichari aur kucch bol bhi nahin sakti na Ishu ko 😆 If you reverse it, the only good thing anyone would have to say about Shagun is her sense of style 😆"

Exactly very well written...Ishita is able to support herself which I feel is very important for your own self confidence and esteem...She is well educated and has made a place for herself...!! She is not dependent on any man..!!
