how did shagun fall for raman?

hey all,

I just got around to watching the earlier episodes that contained flashbacks of raman and apshagun's earlier days. my question is, how on earth did shagun fall for raman? back then, raman was a meek, passive, and nerdy guy belonging to a middle class family. how did someone as ambitious and domineering as shagun end up marrying such a seedha sadha raman? in retrospect, it always seemed clear that shagun would go for someone like ashok, who was wealthy and suave.

Did she marry raman with the intention of controlling him? or did she really love him at one point, but started noticing what was missing in her life once she attended all the glamorous business parties with him?

it will be interesting if CV's decide to show that shagun genuinely loved raman but it wasn't enough once she started getting attention from ashok, and the possibility of a luxurious life with him was too tempting to resist.

Zara from what is known this was an arranged marriage like Vyas pointed out as to the why did Shagun even say yes to Raman perhaps the reason for that can be her family' financial condition at the time.

We know Shagun loves money and is greedy but greed just doesn't happen overnight even in girls like Shagun, its something that slowly takes root and with the kind of step that Shagun took - leaving her husband, kids and living in with a guy without nuptials, from the looks of it she comes from an extremely humble home - her roots aren't yet explored.

And perhaps at the time Raman though not a match she would have liked in terms of looks was someone who could have provided her the much needed financial security. But when she met Ashok, Raman started being the paler alternative to her. Not only because of his looks then, but because of his monetary status as well.

Shagun it seems to me wanted a lot from life from the beginning itself but couldn't have it all owing to the limited financial resources of her family - the Bhallas might have only wanted a girl from a good family for Raman, and her manners and looks would have been enough back then. Even when IshRa got married the Bhallas refused any dowry, so Shagun' modest family wouldnt have bothered them, but it bothered her.

This is as per my POV, nothing of this sort has been shown on the show.

as far as i knw and what i saw shagun was i guess gd when she maried rkb initially

thn she jst gt carried away...she nvr unddd the imp of raman in her life...

She could have married him for financial security and Raman was so meek, she thought she could push him around. From the very few flashbacks, it seemed that shagun openly flaunted ashok in front of him. She was a cruel women, no wonder Raman is so damaged. I hope one day, we get to see her parents or where she came from.

Hey Zara the pleasure is mine and yep I think the @bold part is another reason why she said yes to Raman then, She knew because of her looks she could influence him enough and have him wrapped around her little finger to and order him as she pleases to do so and he would because he was so much smitten with her. And of course she abused him emotionally, making him so damaged.

@ red - I think Mihir' BG story would open the doors to this - an old article already mentions Raman is Mihir' BIL making Shagun his sis, so what exactly is her story would be revealed in due course, may be with the culmination of this Mihir Mihika Trisha triangle, when at last we learn why is Raman so important to Mihir and what makes his word the final verdict on all his decisions.

They havent show the back story of her family but it was an arranged marriage.But I am yet to figure out what made her say yes for it.If she wanted something else in life she should have opted for that.May be she was actually from a poorer family as compared to bhallas then...so that made her agree to the marriage or may be parents pressure.But later when she saw Ashok and the lavish lifestyle he led...she ditched Raman for her greed.
