importance of flash back

Raman went through a flash which showed us that he cares... however i was wondering if there was any importance to it as it showed ruhi, mrs bhalla senior but also mrs ishita bhalla from the lohri scene of them as a family - might this be a turning point for him eventually realising the three most important women in his life?
