Let Him Go

"C'mon honey lets get ready its time for the party" I told my husband . Today was a great an joyous day as Anil was getting the award for the best doctor of the year. I was so excited as he had worked hard and our sacrifices have paid off.

At the party the felicitations went well and we were all seated for dinner when a lady came up and hugged my husband and said "Vipul finally I got to meet you".

My husband tried to tell her she was mistaken but she kept rattling along on "Vipul I missed you and have been searching for you. I am so glad to have found you and now you cannot leave me" Saying this she hugged my husband and would not let go.

Finally she let go and she came to me and asked who I was and I told her I was Anil's wife and she was in disbelief and kept arguing that she Yashika was Vipul's life. She said she had proof and could show her.

Yashika took us to her house and showed us pictures of Vipul and her and I was shocked as Vipul looked like Anil's twin. Anil too was in shock and kept mentioning that it was not him.

He even called Amma(his mom) to find out if he had a long lost brother and she denied it. We were all confused and then Yashika said that on the weekend she would take them to her village close by as she and Vipul always spent their weekends there.

So the weekend we driving to this village and suddenly out of nowhere Anil told me that there is a dhabba here with good food. When we looked around a little ahead we saw a board"Pappu Ka Dhabba"

This shocked both me and Anil since anil had never been here. We just assumed it was coincidence .Yashika was so happy and said" Vipul I knew you would remember"

We reached the village and at the house Anil knew exactly where all the things were kept. The two days we were there it seemed that he was in familiar surroundings. Wherever we went the villagers seemed to recognize both of them as Vipul and Yashika.

When we got back Yashika kept coming over and Anil and she kept spending hours talking and laughing. I started hardly getting time with him.

Then one day when I came home they dropped the news that I was dreading to hear. Anil said that he loves Yashika and that he wants to spend the rest of his time as Vipul as that is who he thinks he is.

I let him go with tears and have never looked back since.
