The Wilkins-McCathy family was having dinner when she arrived. She stood at their doorstep, panting and disheveled from the journey. Her black-dyed hair was stuck to her neck and forehead, which were drenched in sweat and her red hair was pulled up untidily. Her mascara and eyeliner had become messed up and she had black streaks across her face. She was still wearing her tennis outfit which was streaked with dirt. Mrs. McCathy opened the door and was shocked at the sight of her.

"Alexis?" she asked uncertainly.

"I am so sorry, Mrs. McCathy, for coming without notice… but I really want to talk to Hilly!" said Alex breathlessly.

"Come in dear! Hilly! Alex is here to see you," called Mrs. McCathy and turned back to Alex, "Do you want to freshen up or-"

"Hey Alex!" said Hilly, surprised to see her there, "What happened?"

"I need to talk to you!" said Alex.

"Sure… come in!" she said. Turning to her mother, "Can I skip dinner?"

"Sure dear… if you need anything just call me!"

Hilly smiled at her mother and beckoned to Alex to follow her to her room. Ryan threw her a surprised look which she chose to ignore. She entered Hilly's room and sat on the chair. Hilly's room was in shades of blue and had been designed by a professional. Alex felt very out of place in such a neat room for Hilly always kept her room tidy. She looked at Hilly who was waiting for her to talk.

"Listen Hilly," she started, "I know we both, sort of, drifted apart since… since dad… and all…"

"Alex… I know you didn't come all the way here at this time to talk about our friendship, which I feel obliged to tell you, has suffered no damage whatsoever!" Alex gave Hilly a grateful grin.

"Well… its Pam!" and with that Alex started off and poured out everything to Hilly. Her fears, her sorrows, her feelings… everything. Hilly patiently listened to her as she walked over and brought out a wet towel. Alex was getting everything out of her chest and didn't even take notice as Hilly wiped her face with the towel. "… and I didn't know where else to go. I knew that they would check Kevin's house first so I didn't want to go there. Besides Kevin is not the person I wanted to talk to… I then thought of you and how you had been such a good friend and suddenly I started to miss you and …"

"Just take your breath and drink some water!" said Hilly gently, pouring a glass of water for her from a jug. Alex drank the water and there was silence for some time as she collected herself. She then took a deep breath and looked at Hilly who was sitting on her bed and looking at Alex.

"Thank you Hilly!" she said in a quiet voice. Somehow Hilly's calm self seemed to be the thing that Alex needed. Somebody who stayed calm when she was not. Alex was really grateful for that.

"No problem! Tell me how did you come here?"

"I walked!" she said simply.

"You walked all the way here?" gasped Hilly.

"Well… yea…" she said grinning. Hilly saw the glint in Alex's eyes and reminded herself about this hot-headed tomboy and her strong will.

"You must be starving! I'll get you-" said Hilly starting to get up when she was interrupted by a knock. She opened the door to find Sally standing there with a plate in her hand.

"Mom thought Alex might be hungry," she explained.

"Thanks Sally!" said Hilly, receiving the plate and closing the door behind her. She handed the plate to Alex and said, "Eat it now or you are going to fall sick!" Alex picked up a biscuit and started to nibble at it. "Isn't David going to worry?" asked Hilly suddenly.

"Do me a favor and don't tell him!" said Alex, "I just feel like being away for a while!"

"Fine…" said Hilly though she didn't agree with it. There was no saying what Alex would do if she didn't agree with her. "Do you want to change or something? I can lend you my clothes!" suggested Hilly, "You'll feel better after a bath!" Alex shrugged and agreed to take a bath. While she was in the bathroom Hilly tiptoed out of the room and called David on her cell.

"David? Hey this is Hilly!"

"Hilly? Why are you whispering?"

"Alex is here!"

"What? She's where?"

"Here at my house. I convinced her to change into my clothes so she is taking a bath now. She told me not to tell you but I know you'll be worried."

"How did she get there?" asked David, signaling to Kevin to tell him that Alex was safe.

"She walked here!"

"What?"

"I know… ok before she gets suspicious I had better get back… but if she wants to spend the night here I don't have a problem, so don't worry about Alex, ok?"

"Sure Hilly, thanks for calling!" Hilly hung up and went back into her room. The same time Alex had returned from her bath, looking cleaner and really neat in Hilly's bright pajamas. For a minute Hilly found it difficult to recognize Alex without her customary Tennis outfit or her black clothes.

"Wow Alex! You look so pretty!" and so she did. Alex walked over and sat on Hilly's bed which was opposite a mirror. Hilly walked over and pointed Alex to the mirror.

"Why do you hide that under all that dark makeup and clothes?" Alex didn't know how to answer that question. Hilly reached out for a comb and started to remove the tangles and smoothen Alex's hair. At the end of it, Alex was looking very attractive. "There you go!" she said, arranging her hair around her face such that the black parts fell forward and merged smoothly with the red. "Tomorrow, you're coming to school exactly like this!" said Hilly.

"In your dreams!" said Alex, horrified at the thought of looking so girlish.

"You are coming like this!" said Hilly firmly, "I am not going to let you hide your beauty under the war paint you apply on your face!"

Ryan was waiting in the car next morning, impatiently, waiting for Hilly and Alex. He had switched on some music and was honking to the tune to irritate Hilly and make her come sooner.

"Stop that! I'm coming!" Hilly called from inside and Ryan stopped honking. Hilly hurried out of the door, muttering apologies to him.

Ryan turned his head towards her and started yelling at her, "Why does it take so long for you girls to get ready? How long do I have to wait? I have a life you know… if I had gone earlier I could have..." and so he went on. Hilly paid no heed to him and he got even more irritated at it. "Hey you look at me! I am the one driving you to school…" Hilly was wondering why Alex was not telling him off and turned to her side to see that Alex was missing. She sighed and walked right back where she was hiding behind the door and dragged her out. "You look fine Alex!" Ryan glared at the Hilly, indignant that she had walked out when he was talking to her, "You come late as it is and you turn you back to me! Forget it-" and he forgot what he was going to say next. For what he saw made him remove his sunglasses for a closer look and his mouth dropped open at the sight.

Alex was walking down the stairs, nervously clutching her bag. She was wearing Hilly's clothes – a skirt, reaching just below the knees and white in color, which showed just how slender her legs were, and a black, off-shoulder top that hugged her figure so delicately. Her hair had been attended to by Hilly and fell in waves around her face, the black parts merging with the red hair, giving it an attractive look. She was wearing light shades of makeup which made her face more radiant every time the light caught it. A light touch of mascara and eyeliner accented her liquid dark eyes. She was very conscious as she pushed the hair behind her ear and was almost dragged by Hilly to the car. Ryan was speechless and stared at Alex as if he hadn't seen a girl before.

"Just loosen up!" said Hilly.

"It's weird!" said Alex, tugging at the ends of her top to pull it down, "People are going to so laugh at me!"

"No they are not!" she said reassuringly, "look at Ryan! Is he laughing?" she turned to Ryan, her face set to warn him against any sort of comment, and found him staring open mouthed at Alex. "All right! Ryan's a gone case!" she said turning to her. She reached out and pressed the horn to bring Ryan back to his senses. Ryan jumped and realized what he had been doing. "Back to earth? Now shall we leave?" asked Hilly teasingly. Ryan mumbled something and glared at Hilly, turning the keys in the ignition.

"Alex! You're going to be a hit! Trust me!" said Hilly. Alex was not too sure about it. She was looking very different and she knew that people were going to point and laugh. She just wished she had stayed home instead…

Nope, the makeover wasn't too quick, it was just awesome!!! Going by alex's picture, she's completely hot, and it's better it turned out this way! I can't wait to see ryan ogling at her now!!!

Can't wait for the next chapter! Sounds so intriguing... want to know all their reactions! Kevin, scott...! And what Rhea's gonna do abt Kevin n Alex... Just can't wait!!!
