Beautiful update Neha

So, Gustave's grandmother and Vamika had opposite powers.

Idk why this moves an idea bug in my head :)

Ok, I just finished reading all the segments and T's summary (thank you for so succinctly capturing the highlights from each segment).

The latest update: Neha I understood you're trying to bring in a superpower of light as opposed to Vamika, who's the superpower of dark, Right?

Yes.

There's the motif of mom too - with both G & K yearning for theirs. Did you mean to go somewhere with this?

Sorta. Most fics do love in romantic sense only. I was exploring, here the magic/special abilities glow through bloodlines. Or some aspect like that. And when we're in trouble, the best person to go to is mom, right? Yes, they're grown adults but having your mom comfort you, if not anything else definitely helps. I also left the drak v. Light wala a bit open ended. In Grishaverse we have the sun summoner, who can summon light and she controls it. This is a rare magic, only once in 100 something years someone has it.

We can either explore it along those lines or have one light magic user alive at one time, then somebody else gets those powers. Let it still be a rare magic, because pure goodness is rare.

Why should magic exist only in bloodlines? Why not outside bloodlines like Muggleborns in HP universe?

I kinda imagined Vamika as someone whose magic exists outside her bloodline. Through her blood and sweat.

Do the teas have some significance? The coconut & roses concoction that K offers G in his apartment and later the strange tea that K drinks at G's grandfather's house that makes him feel light & happy?

The coconut and roses concoction was given by Vamika to Karan before the soul switch. It's purpose was to make him feel stronger temporarily. The teas are like potions prepared by witches/wizards, or like steroids medications.

Also, I wanted to understand if the power of the watch controls the time loop? I.e whoever is wearing can control it?

The watch is a device that works for the person who has the ability to control the power of the time loop.

If someone doesn't have the power to control it then the watch is only like a meaningless toy.

Here, since, Gustave's soul and body are no longer united, the power of time loop can be controlled by both in a divided fashion. Gustave's soul can control it mentally – like he can concentrate, channelise and summon energies required to control that power. Gustave's body is physically influenced by the time loop, like his movements and functions are set by the time loop but without the soul the body doesn't know how to control it.

Also how did Gustave use the time loop to erase Karan's visions about what he did when he's in K's body and now K in G's body has the watch? Can both of them control the time loop now? So does that mean time resets for both of them after 24 hours? Yes.

Undoing a few minutes for both wouldn't be much difficult.

One more thing, T's 1st segment said G is only able to control his own time loop, he can't do much about others'. So did something happen during the soul switch that now enables him to control others' time loops as well? (Like he did while erasing K's visions)

Maybe he could do that because Gustave's body is physically trapped in the time loop, whose power Gustave's soul can control. If it was anyone else, maybe it would not have been possible.

Sorry, I'm asking all these Qs

I'd also like to claim the next segment if no one else is taking it.

Leaving the other questions for T. We could sit together and draft certain rules for magic, of course there can be exceptions but largely within the rules to maintain consistency.

Answered above in green :)

And I love your questions Lizzie, it is making us look deeper into this magical world and refine it even more 🤗

Bloodline part is just an option. Certain magic goes through bloodline while others in a different fashion?

Also, it isn't established. Gustave remembers and through his Gramps' journal, knows, his gramma had the light magic. Now who would be the next person to possess it, his logical conclusion was to start from his mom. It's more of a trial and error thing. I also kinda thought what if it was Karan's mom who had, even if partially, those powers. That's why he felt better when she was around. She was unconsciously healing him.

Wow Liz! I am in awe of your segment 😍🔥

It's brilliant, especially the explanation at the end that how the dark matter entered Karan to make him ill 🔥 Vamika is indeed an interesting character, and Gustave seems more gray than he initially was.

Yes, I agree with you, we need to work on world building together. We also need to investigate if there are any lose ends in the story that needs to be tied back.

he wasn't grey pehle? My man has been messing people's timelines and lives for his selfish motives. Isse jyada grey kya chahiye. He also did a bunch of illegal things..stalking and all included. Ab toh Vani ko gayab bhi kiya which is borderline murder. 🤣 50 shades of grey, much?

I am claiming the next segment 🤗

Meanwhile, we need to work on world building together.

So, whatever thoughts you have on how the world of Gustave and Vamika's magic is, any ideas regarding how the powers of time loop work and how soul switch works, PM it to me by the end of June 26, 2023, 11.59 PM IST

(Basically you have the whole weekend :) )

What will I do? I will post them on the thread. I will also post my individual ideas on this magical world. In case, you don't want me to post your thoughts, just let me know.

And I will compile everyone's ideas into a single a coherent form so that it can be referred to when participating writers are writing their segments.

Of course, we can discuss and refine it more after this initial compilation.

Since this is an open group activity, you are free to send your ideas even if you haven't written so far. You will be given due credit for your ideas.

If you have questions regarding their world, you can send them too. Or you can post on the thread.
