Yup, the present. The segment ended where WD started the story. So if the writers want, they can go forward with Sam and Nica’s story.

If one main character is indeed killed off, then the story can shift to another main character. For eg. The creator may have started off the story with Captain America and Flash. You can kill off Captain America in your segment but will need to continue with Flash and add another character if you wish to. The next contributor can decide to bring back Captain America (by retconning) in their segment.

So I think we'll set a rule that the main characters are the ones established by the creator. Collaborators can add secondary characters/ conflicts but the story needs to focus on the main characters, their development arc, their growth, the resolution of their conflicts etc. Therefore, it also needs to be told from their PoV.. i.e the narrative will revolve around them.

So to answer the second part of your question, you do not have to include all secondary characters (mentioned in the previous segments) in your segment, but you do have to focus on the main character.

Does that make sense? If yes, I'll add this into the FAQs

So only the characters mentioned in the first post are leads, aur, and they can't be made into side characters?

My tiny brain has a suggestion to make. Can we have the fichain threads include (not title for story) but some kind of identifier. Rn we have 3 ongoing, soon more will be added, toh just number won't do enough to remember.

#1 could be called something along the lines of "A Gay Mess" cuz that's what the vibe is? Rainbows and Sunshines is also good 🌈🙈

#2 ko Veronica keh do, sab ko pata chal jayega.

#3 time loop or something?

Basically, just add something to make the story identifiable from the title itself. 😳

Yep you can jump in on any of the ongoing Fichains (there are 3 and you’ll find the links to them on the first page in the signup post. They’re also all stickied in the forum) . No, the creator does not get to choose a team member - anyone can join at any point as long as you’re abreast of the story plot and think you can advance it. In other words, yes- it’s open for all. All you need to do is read the story so far and claim a segment by commenting on the thread. You maybe placed in a queue or maybe up to write immediately, you’ll have to check that on every Fichain thread- some are fast moving and some are going at a leisurely pace. Once your turn is up, you have 48 hours to post your segment.

As Lizziebennet rightly advised, you can jump into the story at any time to continue it. But, first, put your request in the thread, so that the writers can adjust you for the next slot.
