There is and I started out doing that but too many links don't work sometimes and there are some posts that have multiple recs & reviews so...

Besides I've had a couple of people say they're intimidated venturing on here because it's so full of Romance recs 😆, so I have created a thread for all other genres. Believe it or not, people do read them 😆, I used to be one of them 😳

Dark Verse, I’ve read the first two, I know there was some plot holes that carries on to the next books but I always require a break in between the different couples books 😂 Those were two books I thoroughly enjoyed even though it was in third person pov. I do love love ❤️ the book covers for these and have them on the shelves ready to read 😂

NOOOOOOOOO-

Why the Breakkkkk? 😭

OMG YOU HAVE TO READ ALL. I finished it yesterday...five books from Friday night to Monday morning and I was done with them all. THE PLOT IS INSANEEEE!!!

All books have revelations and all books have a unique end. Book 5 is my least fav though because it had a lot of triggering stuff but it is also the book for Luna Caine, which is why the triggers.

So Many Revelations there too.

My fav out of all is Book 2. Tristan Caine be my mannnn! I cannot! There is NOTHING typical about Tristan Caine. He might be one of the most f-cked up characters on bookstagram. BUT- he has his reasons and I am with him. He my man. He has me in a chokehold.

YOU WILL LOVE HIM and you will CRY FOR HIM. You will hurt for him as a boy and you will want to hug him as a man. That is Tristan for you!

“They will die a thousand deaths,” he murmured, almost gently as his thumb traced the line of her jaw, “before they ever touch a single hair on your head again.” And then, with that deathly vow still echoing in her heart, he pressed his lips to her fluttering pulse. “I promise,” his lips wrote against her skin.”

I AM NOT OKAY.

This isn't just a book series it is a TV SERIES formed into a book. That's how I feel about it. The suspense is just maddening. The revelations - the crumbs, all so great.

Plus the author is anonymous. No photo, no real name or anything which is why I feel this isn't as popular as it should be.

That’a great if the new thread is bringing in members who love other genres and being active on it. I wish I were interested in other genres as some books really does sound great, especially the thrillers and criminal sort of suspense ones. But those, I would rather watch true crime documentaries or watch criminal minds or law and order 😂

Honestly, I really don’t know why I need these breaks. I just cannot read the second story of the secondary character without the break. Sometimes I feel like it ruins the first characters for me especially if I’ve loved them and I read the second ending up loving the second and compare both 😂

I don’t know but I just don’t start on the second book in the series if it’s about the secondary character becoming a main.

Tristan Cain is my ❤️❤️❤️ I absolutely loved loved the first two books and afraid the next books will ruin them for me 😆

Authors being anonymous makes the book even more interesting sometimes. Like Sylvain Reynard for example, he or she remains anonymous and I’ve always been curious and following for the day if he or she ever does a face reveal and name reveal.
Runyx is the same, he or she aren’t revealing anything and there’s this mystery behind them and makes me curious.

I think for me the most f—-d up is Zane Meadows. Even Tristan hasn’t come close to him. I’ve always wished to find female mcs just as crazily f*cked up as them. I’ve only found a couple of them so far but there’s so little female mcs who are just straight up badass and even scary. Lana from the Mindf*ck series is an example of one. She’s a serial killer getting revenge and omg I binged that series within a weekend. And, Melody from Ruthless people is another. Melody wasn’t scary but more ruthless and really badass, and f—-d up in the head which I’d loved.

I did read another recently - Sick Fux. I haven’t gotten around to doing a review for this one because even though I’d enjoyed reading it after the beginning parts and it did pick up closer to the middle. It was all sorts of f—-d up ness that no one should read. That book messes with someone’s head. I just imagined Harley Quinn and Joker for these characters 😂 They were THAT crazy.

I hope it’s resolved soon and you’re able to read again. About Partners in Crime, why do you think you’ll never finish it? Bcos of the problem with your app or bcos it’s boring? 😆

I tried everything. Delete karko dobara install kiya, even turned off my sync and then on again. I think it might be a syncing/icloud bug, but im not sure. I even updated the software. The only solution I found was turning my phone on Low Power Mode while using the app, then it seems to be working fine.

Oh I'm not reading that book on the app. I'm reading it online. I've just been really busy. I'm on chapter 4 now and finally the story is picking up.

The 2 books which you reviewed are already in my TBR, though I was putting off Christina Lauren already because the blurb never interested me. I need intensity in my stories.😆

Thankfully found the audiobook for the Dark Verse series. 🥳😂 Bought all 4 audiobooks and preordered the 5th which is due to come out late May. I’m gonna try the binging on the series this bank holiday weekend.

IMG_8023.png

Started up the series from the beginning because I’d forgotten most of it, last time I had read Tristan and Morana’s story was 15th Oct 2021 according to my Goodreads account.

I’d forgotten that first scene of Morana going into the mansion to kill Tristan 😂 Looking forward to this re-read ❤️

Honestly this series is equivalent of crack cocaine to me!

It IS THAT GOOD...I cannot imagine how I put it off and I cannot imagine stopping. I have to do a re-read again because I have this urge to read Zephyr De La Vega (FMC of Book 4) again. Such a queen, such a different book than all the others and we love curvy FMCs anyway!

Syndicater be releasing some time this year and I am on my toes to get it!

The fact that all the other contemporary series are basically just standalones from Book 1 but THIS IS TOTALLY ANOTHER THING ALTOGETHER!

This is an actual series. Not standalones, can't be read as standalones.

Netflix series equivalent!

EVERYONE HERE ON THIS THREAD - I AM TRULY RECOMMENDING THIS.

Cross my heart on this one!

Cliffhanger

Spice level: 4.5/5

Genre: Mafia romance

Trope: Enemies to love

Possible Triggers: Death, murder, mention of child trafficking.

POV: Third person

So, I decided to re-read the series from the beginning. I last read this 2021 and couldn’t remember the books much other than I loved Morana and Tristan. The re-read served me the reminder I needed and gosh I fell in love all over again with this couple.

I started off with the audiobook as I struggle getting into the third person pov as 98% of my reads are first person pov. Once I got into the book, I switched to the paperback and couldn’t put it down. It was addictive and kept my attention.

The plot was engaging, there was suspense and you’re wondering a hundred different things because there is quite a lot of stuff happening. It wasn’t overwhelming but perfectly balanced for me to keep track of it. It does start off slow but once it picks up, you’re best off preparing for a page turner as it keeps you on your toes.

This was a perfect perfect enemies to lovers romance for me.

“One day, I'm going to carve your heart out and keep it as a souvenir. I promise.”

“Don't you know not to run away from predators, sweetheart? We like the hunt.”

Morana Vitalio is just perfection. There’s not many FMCs that I love. But Morana is one of them. Morana was intelligent, independent, passionate. She gave me the feels. I really felt for her especially as you read on and come to learn she only wanted to love and friends. There is no one in her life that she could trust, and her father is a grade A shit-head who needs to be unalived asap.

“No one else gets to kill you, Ms. Vitalio," he spoke quietly. "The last face you see before you die will be mine. When it comes to death, you're mine.”

Tristan Caine. Oh gosh! I cannot get enough of him. You don’t get to know him at all until much much later. Tristan Caine is quiet, and his eyes do most of the expressions/speaking. He’s considered the predator. Cold and a monster. He’s feared by everyone. Even though he didn’t speak much, and the paragraphs were mostly narrations, however when he did speak, it was interesting and entertaining. I loved his encounters with Morana be it face to face, calls or text messages. Tristan Caine was like an onion and you were peeling the layers away and I felt my heart crush as I got the slice of his background as to what made him like this. He’d been a tortured protector throughout his life for the girl he wanted to kill.

“We've been honest so far, Ms. Vitalio," he murmured. "I'll be honest now. I despise you but I want you. F*ck it, I do. And I want you out of my system.”

Tristan Caine: Apparently, you're not out of my system, Ms. Vitalio.

The chemistry and sexual tension between Morana and Tristan was explosive. It keeps you on your toes and you’re waiting for what they’re going to do or what they’re going to even say. I lived for those moments. One minor thing that was irking and didn’t need to be added was the amount of staring. I’m sorry but no one stares that much lol…

What I appreciated was even though the smexy scenes was great, I liked the fact they held off kissing until that final chapter.

And the last chapter. The kiss in the rain. My most favourite scene. That chapter topped everything and wrapped the ending of this book and I couldn’t wait to plunge into the next book.

It was the most beautiful kiss she could have ever dreamed of, the most untainted she’d ever imagined from him, with a softness she’d not thought him capable of. With his intensity, with his blazing eyes, the silent promises had been of devouring.

This wasn’t devouring.

This was savoring.

It was not neccessarily dark so if you wanted to start to delve into Mafia romance, this would be the book/series to start with in my opinion.

Cliffhanger

Spice level: 4.5/5

Genre: Mafia romance

Possible Triggers: Death of parent, death of sibling, murder, mention of child trafficking.

POV: Third person

I absolutely devoured this. I couldn’t stop especially when there’s so much suspense and danger surrounding them. Morana is now in dangerous territory and has a friendly reaper appearing in the shadows and giving her information. There’s mystery in trying to figure out why the alliance ended and so much other things going on. Morana learning about her own past.

Morana stroked his head, running her nails over his scalp. “I know my smartness turns you on.”

“It does.

I loved Tristan and Morana even more in this book. Gosh, they worked so well together. Their chemistry was just *chef’s kiss*

I was so happy and grinning like an idiot reading their interactions and their growth as characters. Tristan is still cold and dark for the world, but when it comes to the moments with Morana. Gosh, he had my heart.

And that hug!!!! When Morana ran and gave him that hug. And when he returned it. I absolutely that. Especially as I read further and he was getting used to giving her intimacy and hugs.

It wasn't just a kiss. It was more, much more. They broke apart for much-needed air. “Dinner,” she mumbled through a hazed mind.

“I’d rather eat you,” he murmured back, kissing her feverishly once again. Morana lost herself in the kiss, let herself drown anchored by him.

And… Tristan Caine has a freaking dimple! He smiled with her. He gave her chocolate. He washed her hair. He freaking cooks. Is there anything this man cannot do? I absolutely loved him and I swear down, I would do anything for this man. Even if means to chuck my husband in the line of fire if it was to protect Tristan Caine. Tristan Caine deserves every bit of happiness. I wanted to unalive every single piece of shit who’d tortured him since he was young. All he wanted was to be held, protected and love. He was so young and instead he was treated like a monster. I hated his mother. She should have protected him instead she’d rejected him and walked away leaving him with the real monsters.

The protecter in him for her. Damn he was hawt! I loved those moments. There is nothing that he would not do for this woman.

“Nobody hurts her. Nobody talks shit about her. Not me, not you, not anyone. Next time I hear you call her anything less than the woman she is, I will cut your tongue out and feed it to your dogs.”

Morana!!! I just fell in love with her even more. I loved how she worked and tried to solve the mysteries. The way she’d defended herself when she’d been attacked and the way Tristan holds her as she’s reeling from it. She’s a brilliant nerdy FMC, she can also kill and is a total badass. I loved how she’d held her own with Lorenzo Maroni. And her threats to him. Gosh I loved it.

The scene when Morana was caught and they were forced to play the game for information. The tension was high there and it was so engaging and a page turner wanting to know what happens next. I loved it!

I really enjoyed how they’d accepted they loved each other. Morana understood he loved her, even if he didn’t say the words and I loved her confession to him.

She was his gravity, his f*cking planet, and he was lost without her.

The plot twists in this book had me on the edge of my seat. I really wanted to know Reaper’s name and oh gosh, learning about Morana and that address. I really hope that address is what I think it is. I want Luna to be found. Tristan needs that.

The friendship and new alliance that formed with Tristan, Dante and Morana. Their friendship was amazing. Morana found family with people that were not her own. The friendship with Dante and Amara was great to read. It’s all they wanted. Love and friendship. I wanted so much more of Morana and Tristan and I hope I do get more of them when I dive into the other books. I’m really looking forward to Dante and Amara’s story.

“You might have been born with another name but you are Morana. My Morana. You’re the girl I killed for and you’re the woman I’d die for. You are mine and you are exactly where you’re supposed to be. Don’t ever question that again, do you understand?”

“Your body, your life, your heart – they’re all mine now. Trust me to keep all of them safe.”
