Beyond the Glass Window
The room dark with curtains closed
For ages passed, the same fear posed
Hovering beyond the glass window
Crumpled and old, legs dragged,
She moved to the window, the carpet rotten
Her wait was long, towards the light to go
Shivered hands, she pulled the dusty strings
Light poured in, the glass melted
When the heavy reluctant curtains drew
Bleak eyes, she squinted
And caught a glimpse or more
Not of a stairway nor a long winded road
The children played in the garden across
Flowers danced just beyond
Birds sang right above
Streamed tears, she beheld
The beauty and absurdity of all
The dark room for ages consumed
Everything precious beyond the glass window.
