AN: Okay, let's all go easy on the Poseidon hate. I know I've taken my time in
updating. I do not believe in writing without actual inspiration. Or whatever.
Just read... (This one is by my friend Poseidon. xD)
Chapter 5
I slapped her stupid face. "Meredith, you idiot, you cannot develop feelings for him.
He's your bloody roommate-slash-landlord!"
"But Jenna," she continued in an annoying voice, "his eyelashes! They're so-"
"BOUNDARIES!" I cut her short. "You have to establish boundaries. Besides, I don't
see what you see in him. He's so broody!"
"That's because his sister died!"
I sighed, "Dear old Meredith. Always so given to the whims and fancies of hopeless
infatuations."
She started up quickly at this, slamming her cup of coffee on the table, and drawing
stares from the waiter. She took a deep breath, and continued in a hoarse voice, "I am
not given to the whims of fancy hopeless whatever. Matt is a really sweet guy and he
seems lonely and..."
Was she not listening to herself?
"... he's sad because his sister died, and he has this best friend! Oooh he has this cute
best friend called Chase. I KNOW! A double date! You and Chase, me and Matt and
we can go to..." This was not going to stop unless I stopped it.
"Okay, okay. Meredith! I am not going on a double date with you and Mopey Matt-"
now she was glaring at me, "- what? He always mopes around!- for two reasons.
Firstly, I am perfectly fine without any romantic complications in my life, and
secondly, I need to be there to stop you from going all Romeo, Romeo, whereforth
art thou Romeo?' when he says that you two can't be together," I explained, as I paid
the bill and left a tip for our glowering waiter. Meredith got up with bag, and I
followed suit.
She continued our conversation as we exited the caf, "You know I never really got
that. Why would Juliet ask Romeo where he was when he was right there under the
balcony?"
Gosh, this peasant. "Dude, Juliet didn't know he was there. And whereforth' doesn't
mean where, it means why."
"Oh."
"Now, this Matt," I began again, sensing that this was going to take all night.
It was nearly midnight and Meredith was sprawled on my couch, while I was
slouched on a bean bag chair. Through a yawn, I heard her, "Drop me home."
Yeah right. "Drop yourself home. It's going to take so long to drop you and come
back. I could sleep for that much longer." I had no mind to get up now.
"Be like Usain Bolt, Jenna," said Meredith in a fake inspirational tone. "Usain Bolt
can run 100 metres in like 9 seconds or something."
I chuckled. "Mer, it takes me 9 seconds to get off my arse."
After ten more minutes of pointless bickering, we set out to the apartment Meredith
shared with Matt. It was nearly one o'clock.
"The winter moon is high. Tis the hour of the forgotten, the lost and the deceased," I
drawled, as Meredith used her key to open the door. Matt's car was missing, so we
had reached the conclusion that he was probably spending the night somewhere. Even
if he was home, waking him up now would be very inconsiderate.

I was lying on Matt's bed. Chase was in his house, or I guess our house, considering I
stayed there more than I stayed here, since Matt's new roommate moved in. Matt
himself had been forced to join our distant relatives for the Christmas holidays. The
look on his face when Aunt Gertrude invited him over was priceless. I would have
preferred to be in my room, except it wasn't mine anymore.
I was still here, but in a way, I wasn't. Tonight was just one of those nights when I
didn't particularly feel like doing anything. I sighed and got off the bed. I stood near
the window and stared outside at the deserted street. I sighed, and noticed that my
breath didn't fog up the cold glass. I touched the window pane with my finger. There
was no fingerprint.
There was no proof that I was here. Even worse, there was hardly any proof that
someone called Sarah Collier had ever lived save for some government record that no
one bothered with and a few photographs. I didn't get to leave my mark on the world.
All I left were some memories with my brother. I didn't regret those. I guess that
should be good enough for me.

Meredith was once again lying down on her bed. I, Jenna, her humble servant, had to
go get her water. Hmph. Well, I was getting that damn bottle, throwing it at her stupid
head and leaving. I made my way out of Meredith's and walked down the hall. I
noticed that Matt had left his bedroom door ajar.
I looked in and saw a most astonishing sight. Leaning against Matt's window was a
pale and slender girl. She had rich auburn hair, which hung in waves below her
shoulder. The moonlight made her ivory skin seem ghost-like. She had a faint smile
on her lips, and was tracing invisible patterns on the window pain. She was beautiful,
yet she looked somewhat sad.
"Jenna?" came Meredith's voice floating down the hall.
The girl heard Meredith's voice and turned towards the door. She saw me standing
there, and her eyes widened. Her eyes. They seemed familiar. Matt. Was she-
"Jenna, what's holding you up?" asked Meredith walking towards me. I looked at her,
and back into Matt's room, only to find the girl gone.
"Meredith, there was a girl!"
"Quit playing with me," she said, laughing, as she pulled me into her room. I could
have sworn I saw a girl.
