OS - Another Chance

I tiredly sat on the wooden bench as I lifted up my heavy wedding gown. The venue was far from my sight or it was just too dark to see anything. The only light I could see was the lamppost a distance away from the bench. I shut my eyes and took a deep breath feeling the freedom. Ran away from my marriage! Well, this marriage wasn't something I wanted; I could say I was forced to do it.

I heard my phone ring beside me and the caller ID showed "ChachaJi". I immediately cut the call not wanting to answer. "So everybody found out the bride ran away. They either must be sitting there rejoicing my disappearance or looking around for me making sure they get riddance of me forever." I thought irritably. I glanced at my watch which covered a part of my smudged mehendi. It was half-past ten and I'm sitting on a bench in some random park with nowhere to go!

I placed my face into my two palms trying to understand what to do and where to go. My eyes were shut trying my best to put everything in place. Only after a minute or two, I felt as if someone was sitting beside me. I immediately opened my eyes and my head jerked up to find a stranger sitting beside me. He had a well-toned body showing through his plain white t-shirt. Strangely, he was wearing red shorts underneath and he had a chain around his neck ... It looked as if it was a religious chain. His sky black hair, a tad long and had a few spikes at the top. Overall, he was kind of attractive but what attracted me the most were his eyes. Those honey-brown eyes had a spark in it which I will never forget ... Ever!

Suddenly, I saw him waving his hand in front me. Then, it struck me. Was I checking him out? I looked left and right embarrassed though he didn't even know what I was thinking or doing.

"Umm ... Hello." He started off. I looked at him and by his expression, he was confused. "My name is Amar. I was walking towards a wedding nearby."

"Shit!" I muttered under my breath. He was going for my wedding. But in such an attire? I decided not to speak possibly there was another wedding going on and he was going towards there

"Umm ... Shushant and Vrinda's wedding." I'm dead! He was going towards the wedding which I had run away from.

"That marriage is not going to take place anymore ... I am Vrinda and I ran away" I look towards the ground unknown to what he would say. Scared that he would send me back to the wedding.

"May I know why?" he asked politely. His voice had a sweetness that I felt as if I could trust him.

"My uncle and aunt wanted to get me married off to their business partner's son. They had done so much for me, after my parents had passed away, that I had to say yes. But, just recently, I had found out the guy is a drunkard, a gambler and moreover, a womanizer. No doubt that it came as a jolt to me so I decided to talk to my uncle and aunt about it. After the sangeet ceremony, I had decided to tell them about it and when I reached their room, I overheard them saying something about me so I stood behind the door unknown to them. Through their words, I had found out that they knew all along that the guy was not a decent guy but yet still they chose to get him married to me. Why, you may ask. Because I was a burden to them ... I was just this girl they had to pay the expenses of because of their responsibility'. After hearing this and knowing now that there is no one beside me, I ran." I felt tear rolling through my cheeks as I ended. But that was the truth. I am a burden to all. I cried my heart out silently, the pain was just not going away! After a while, I felt his hand on my cheek wiping away my tears.

I looked at him and I don't know how, but I was lost. His eyes were so intoxicating that I could just look at it all my life. Moreover, his sweetness and polite nature had seriously made a huge effect on me. He wiping my tears took me out of my trance.

"Look Vrinda, in life such incidents take place. But that doesn't mean you give up! Crying is not an option! And don't ever think you are alone. I'm here with you!" he persuaded me. A small smile crept up when he ended. I'm here with you. Knowing that someone is by your side feels so great!

"But Amar, why are you doing this for me. We are nothing but strangers to each other" I wanted to hear something from him, what he is feeling right now.

"Okay fine," he placed his hand forward " ... mujhse dosti karogi" he said in the most filmy way possible. I let out a small chuckle and put my hand in his hand agreeing to his offer. "See now, you're my friend! And as a friend, I want you to come over at my place and stay with me till you can afford your own!"

"What!" I exclaimed. Suddenly go and live with him just like that!

"Please Vrinda" he gave a small pout while pleading which I could not resist so I just nodded my head and we headed off to his place. It was kind of weird but it was like giving myself another chance to live my life, to go by my own terms. But not forgetting the new companion which I have with me, Amar!

I really wanted to write something like this so I gave it a shot. I think it turned out quite bad, coming from me, obviously! I hope you guys liked it.
