LOST LOVE (Writing Contest)

PART 1

"I am not gonna support you for this. That's final" he said.

"OK. Fine. I don't need your support and I don't care." She walked away, head held high.

Rohit looked at the shadow of the girl, who is or was his life, moving away from him.

It all started in college in typical film style, a girl comes to join, boys went to tease her, and unlike in real life, she reacts by a tight slap on his face (the leader). And his plot for revenge which makes him fall in love with her and finally he won her. Everything was ok,fine and smooth till her father came to the picture.

He was never against Rohit. On the contrary, he liked him a lot. When priya introduced him, he was quiet impressed with him and his demeanor. He, like her father, was interested in business and would go any length to extend their reign. Rohit was impressed by the way Raj, Priya's father, talked to him.

Raj was a shrewd businessman, who has started his business in one-storey building and now has more than thousand firms all over the world. He had named his company and all of its sub-offices after his daughter, Priya. He would go to any length for his daughter. He loved his daughter very much.

So when Rohit came, he was more calculative in talking but he was more than happy with the way rohit conducted himself. He thought Rohit as a right choice for Priya. For one thing he wanted his daughter to be in safe hands and for another thing because he thought rohit would be able to change priya's behavior towards business and its principles.

It's because even though priya was born and brought up in rich environment and in a stylish life style, Priya was more a philanthropist. She never tries to understand nor will ever understand the ethics and morals of business. She has her own convictions and always stands by them even it means hurting her own people's feelings. Raj has tried so much in making her taking up the business but she always kept herself from all those.

But suddenly things taken a dramatic turn when priya was forced to enter this business world. And it changed everything.

Rohit's and Priya's fathers have come together for a joint venture for starting up a new firm again in name of priya by placing rohit as its manager. At first Pankaj, rohit's father, voiced his thought to raj that there is no need for a new firm as rohit is more than pleased if he is placed in any existing firm, But Raj insisted on making a new one and giving it as a present so that rohit couldn't take it as some debt but something as his own. By doing it this way, Raj thought rohit will not get the feel that his self-respect is been questioned. And rohit was happy about it when pankaj told him about the plan. But there was a problem. The land.

They had already acquired it but the only problem was the work is not getting started because a strike is going on in this land against its acquisition. And the strike is led by Priya, daughter of one of the owners of the companies, which has acquired the land. This has led to lot of interest in media and the construction is delayed for months.

Not only the construction but due to this strike, the marriage between the duos has called off. Both their fathers don't want Priya to have any relation with them unless she leaves her decision to stop the strike, But she is not budging to this. Rohit has time and again come up to her and explains this but she always has only one answer- NO.

Actually one cannot find fault in Priya's behavior. The land contains a school, where children of farmers attend and an orphanage. To build the construction they are going to destroy the whole land, uprooting those buildings too in the process. Priya couldn't digest that fact that her father is actually going to destroy somebody's dreams, someone's home. She tried in every bit to fight against this injustice and has even broken all ties with her family.

Priya's father Raj and Rohit's father Pankaj decided to call for a meeting with strikers and go for negotiation. They weren't sure how it would go or whether strikers would appeal to it but still they had not got any other option. So they called upon their manager to arrange the meeting wherever they say.

On a Sunday afternoon, they are sitting in chairs in the said land with all the farmers and children sitting in front of them in fields. Raj looked down and saw his own daughter sitting there under hot sun amidst poor people. In a sudden rush of thought he saw his figure moving up and thrashing her but he controlled his anger and came back to the present.

Rohit was standing behind Raj and Pankaj and he cleared his throat and began," Court has given the Priya Varma Companies ltd every right to acquire the land, which is situated in Gandhinagar,150 acres So the company can at any time to start their construction here. (Farmers began raising their voices hearing this) Rohit continued looking at Priya," But Company decided otherwise. We decided neither to provoke you nor to grab anything from you without your consent. We know that this place is your home and one fine day you can't simply go from here. So the company has decided to provide jobs and shelter to all persons of age. Any person who is having a family or having a responsibility of looking after a family will get a job in factories owned by the company. They will get house and flats and other allowances like other employees."

While Priya looked in bewilderment, all farmers were jubilant. There were applauses, and then Rohit continued to read," Also all the children from the orphanage will be moved to orphanages in city or to nearby places. Company will provide the necessary transportation and will ensure they get proper education and other health facilities there".
