Part 1:
Meera... lover of Kanha... the girl who lived her life just waiting for her love... an eternal love story...
And me, Meera... waiting for a Kanha in my life too. God knows where he is... Is he too waiting for his love in life.. Waiting for her as she is waiting for him...
"Meera, apne sapno ke duniya se utho, aur kaam pe lag jao. Warna zindagi bhar sirf ye sapna dekna hi bachega..." said a chirpy voice behind her. Of course its Tanya, her 'oh I am new generation girl' friend. Meera flashes her cute smile and turns back to her boring screen. Still she had 2 hours for her shift to get over.
Her shift finished at 9. As usual her company van was waiting for them. They walked out with the usual gossip of the day- who was boss's new prey for the day, the new girl in the latest movie, her affair with the hero, how good he looked, and most important... the girl was not good enough for him.
Meera smiled invardly. "the usual jealous nature of any girl. God alone knows if that guy is actually intersted in her.No one knows them. Still all are in love with them. Its just crazy. And believe it or not... I'm one among those crazy people."
she walked to her van. Its been almost 1 year now. Her work ends at 9 pm. The AR company is her work station. She works as an online technial support member, who have to hear out the complains from her 'lovely' customers and then speak with 'so much love' hiding the irritation.
She was master in hiding her anger or her emotions and Tanya was getting herself at the cut off point lately.
Ta: how do you manage these people yaar? seriously some people just piss me out...
Me: its not that tough Tanya... just feel...
Ta: God... stop that 'feel their trouble...' and all that crap. Then tell them to feel our situation too. They should know what we are going through too.
Meera just smiled. She knew she would lose her verbal fight with Tanya. So silence was best option. And to hear out Tanya's taunts would make her happy too.
She reached the Dilkhush Nagar stop.
Ta: Mee... for the last time consider to learn how to ride a bike. Kam se kam ye late night bus tho nahi lena padegi na...
Its her usual line for the past few months. Especially after the Delhi incident.
Me: I'm fine Tanya. Wo bus ke kuch logon ko mein janthi hu. I'll be fine.
Tanya and the company van went away.
Meera's home was a bit more away. This was the limit were her van would leave. From here she needed to take a local bus. The driver and the conductor were freindly. they saw her daily. And also there was him...
She looked around. He was late...
she took the metal bench in her bus stop. "every Saturdays, his van is late...". She had made this mental note long time back.
It was during her earlier days at the work. She was usually standing alone. For the first few days she was afraid. But later she got used to it. Every night she had to stay waiting for her bus for 10 minutes.
A few months later, one day another van stopped at her stop. It was the GM company's van. And from it came a guy... a handsome man would be a better term.
He was not a guy with the Greek God look. He was a simple man. A bit taller than her. Very fit body, though she could understand that there was no 6 packs over there. But fit enough to look good. Black eyes. Wavy hair. A gentle stubble on his face. A prominent jaw line...On the whole he looked good.
That day she looked away when he walked in. He too didn't show much interst in her. Good for him.
That was the first meet. They waited for a while and both went forward when the bus came.Yes they had to take the same bus too.
She took the ticket to RK Nagar. She never needed to say it as the conductor knew it.But when the conductor reached the guy, she heard his voice. "Shantinagar Colony"
Well he had a good voice too. She smiled, though he didnt see it.
Her point came first and she went down. After sometime he reached his destination too.
This continued. They saw each other and then stood like strangers till the bus came. Not a word, no hi... nothing.
Her mind: (on various days)
Banda aaj ke shirt me ache hai. Blue suits him better than yesterday's grey. He looked older yesterday. Maybe he'll look good in black too.
Aaj kafi pissed off dikh rahe hai. Shayad boss se sunna pada hoga. Bechara.
Naam kya hai janab ka?
Agar Tanya yaha hothe tho iske kundali bhi bahar hothe.
Well we never looked to his mind till now:
He is Dev. Simple guy, with simple dreams. He was not waiting for any Aiswarya in his life as he knew he was no Abhishek. He knew his limitations. His outlook. His extend of what he can dream. Dev is a practical man.
Recently he got a job in a call centre of GM company. Work was not so good. Still he was getting used to it. Something is better than nothing. Who knows one day he would get a better job one day?
His after job routine was to board his van and get down at Dilkhush Nagar. And on the first day, he saw her.
She was a simple girl. Not the one on whom men would drool over types. Everyday she wore salwar, with minimum or in a way no make up. The most prominent feature were her eyes that daily had a line of kajal. Hair was not so long, it was just below her shoulder. She usauly kept it open.
The first day when he came, he saw her a bit uncomfortable. Maybe he was intruding her private space. But no complaint or glare. She just looked and then turned away. Simple and sweet.
They had to take same bus. Maybe a mere coincidence. He never got to hear her voice. the conductor knew her. But she got down at the RK nagar. So thats her place. She passed by him when her station came. She had a mild smell of rose perfume.
This went on.
His mind voice( on various days):
Aaj pony kyu banayi hai? Open hair achi thi.
A message beep on her mobile. Strange. Never heard it before. He looked slolwy at her side. She was having a smile while reading. Damn... thats looks cute.
Never heard her voice. Kash ek call ajathi...
And this went on..
One day, he was getting out of his van when a guy said. "Bye Dev..."
"So that's his name. Dev..nice" she made a note.
H walked in. she was absently smiling at no one particular. He felt it was for him. That was new too. She usually ignored him. He smiled back. That was when she too got it that she was smiling. She felt like a fool. But his smile was good. There was no hidden meaning in it. Maybe he was surprised by her first smile. She smacked herself for that. She gave him back a genuine smile. The first smile...
They turned away a bit embarrassed. They didn't have anything in mind to speak up. And still he didn't even know her name.
She looked around. He has not reached yet. She took her seat. Within a few minutes, just 5 minutes before the bus time, his van stopped. He walked out, waved at his friends and turned to her.
"Hi..." he said.
"hi..." she replied.
That step was after a few days after the first smile.
Today he wished to speak more, but that was when she came in. The intruder who comes in to the bus stop on random days. And they didn't like her at all.
She is Samaira.
