Usually I dont comment on an episode but this time i feel I had to.
My view is very different from most of you I think. I dont care so much about Rani to Vani dynamics, Vani to Sami dynamics etc . They are adults, they will not change. What really gets me, what I feel really bad about is the pressure Rani and Sami r constantly putting on Sara, ever since they left Vani house, jointly and individually making him responsible to do and obtain all the things that his loser Dad could never dream of in this jenma.

Esp in this episode I was really struck by it. Poor guy, shows up after days, just recovered from a major head injury, didnt even step into the house, and Rani starts off her nonsense, 'you put us in so much trouble, when will I get my house, my car, you have to educate Thenu..'.blah blah blah! What is this nonsense? Is it meant to be funny or hilarious or heartwarming because it is not! I was thinking, "what the hell is wrong with you, woman?" She really showed herself to be an uneducated, illiterate, ignorant woman.

These expectations his parents have on Sara, Is this not unfair on Sara? Poor guy is just trying his hardest to help I feel. Studied his hardest in past, now working only to support the fam. In my opinion both Rani and Sami are total losers and have completely failed in their parental duty. What guts that Rani have to show sweet face to Vani and Bhoomi and say yes yes to everything they say as if butter wouldnt melt in her mouth and act as though all these things dont matter to her, all she want is to be with darling sister, and next minute turn to her poor young kid and brazenly demand all same things from him! His fault is that he is born to her and he loves her is it? What is this behaviour!!! How can this be condoned??? Rani Sami had hangups with other adults, they are losers who couldnt achieve anything, that is their problem, Selvi cut free and found her way so will Thenu, only poor Sara is stuck trying to save these losers from themselves.

Out of all the kids in the second generation, only Sara is under so much pressure of parental expectation, the rest are all allowed to be themselves, take initiative or not as per their wish, and guess what out the entire 2nd gen only Sara is acting out and getting into trouble, rest all are fine.

Karthikka,

I did read your posts and though I do not know how to quote properly I wanted to address that question you had. Namely why Sami hates only Vani and can be cordial /polite to Jothi and Anaconda (what IS her real name, boss?) inspite of all their evil doings. I think it is because Vani was the one who told Rani to leave her house. That action brought his rosy dreamworld to an end and catapulted him into this new world where he has had to confront harsh realities and also his inadequacies. I think that is why he is unable to forgive Vani and goes off on her every chance he gets. He blames her for his situation, never mind his own role in the overall scenario or what led up to it.

I think it is Angayarkanni. I know it is a mouthful, which is why I stick to Anaconda Sr. 😆

Thank you for reading my posts. I did worry whether I had written too much. 😆

Good to hear from you, please join us more. There may be times we disagree but we don't take it personally. Otherwise Shree and I won't be talking to each other. 😆

I think you are right about Swamy's double standards. For him it is Vani who is the evil person who kicked him out of the house, regardless of her reasons.

Feel "had to" frequently. Please. 😆

But is that true though? When they found out that he was skiving and working for a don, didn;t they scold him persuade him, threaten him even? But did he listen? He was the one who was so into "money talks" and he talked about everything is about panam. Whining and whingeing, whingein and whining. Refused to listen to anyone. Even Vani tried to stop him and he insulted her.

I agree with your assessment of Rani here but then again like you said, it is how uneducated people react. Contrast the reaction from Vani. I have personally met this kind of people..in their hearts they feel pain, sorrow, happiness but the way they show it is through anger, castigation etc. Tough love, making the children feel guilty.

Once again I disagree with you - very nicely of course - 😊. Sara is the one who invited all this. His parents expected him to study hard and graduate - not for him to go out and do adi koothu and make money. His parents did not ask him to do it. How many times they must have emphasised to him that studies were important? In fact, in one episode, Swamy asks him whether he asked him to go and work. (I hate defending Swamy 😆 ) Gautham and Surya advised him and he did not listen. He was arrogant, stubborn, his common sense clouded by an unfounded and all-consuming desire for material gain. I agree with you about Swamy being loser but not Rani. She may not have achieved things that are palpable, but she showered her family with love, kindness and nurtured them.

And out of all the kids in the second generation, it is Sara who annoys me the most. He was a pig. An arrogant and stupid one. (Of course I mean the character). Let us hope we see a more likeable Saravanan. 😊

Yes, I remember those incidents. But dont forget that happened right after the very harrowing first day out on the streets that they spent as a family. It left a deep impression on Sara, that they had to go to a temple to find food, that he saw his mom lose her memory. When you are a loving dutiful kid who hasnt really faced any problem in life before this, these things wd make a very deep impression on one's mind. Thenu was too young to understand, Selvi was absent. I feel that is when he understood, only money is most important thing in the world. Because only money had the power to take them out of that situation, only money would take them off the streets and into a home, give them food etc. Money can be depended on unlike people or their kindness which can be fickle. Nothing else matters, not studies, not relatives. He knew at some level his Dad cant deliver and he impetuously gave up studies as it had become a real necessity to bring money into the house on a day to day basis. Giving up studies is exactly what a kid that age would do, call it avesam or what you want. Even when others talked to him about why he is doing like this, all he would say is you dont understand, I have to do this, my family needs me etc. I think all of this is coming from the same place - that first traumatic day on the streets

I have also met people like Rani. What disappointed me though, is that VR is supposed to be a trendsetter show, yet Radaan took the same old hackeneyed line. A show of this calibre could have shown an alternative solution to this situation. Do they have to propagate the bad practices already prevalent in society? At least her sister's education could have rubbed off on Rani! This serial had an opportunity to deal with such a situation in a different way and failed to grasp it. This serial has a social responsibiity too, tomorrow some real life Rani-Sami, grown adults yet unable or unwilling to solve their own problems will feel justified on landing all the responsibilities on their young son, JUST.LIKE.RANI.DID and demand all kinds of things from him. How is that fair to the kid?
I just feel even if life has not been kind to you, in terms of education or opportunities doesnt mean you have to lack humanity and common decency towards your own progeny. And this habit of Indian families to overburden their sons must change.

No yaar..there were instances when Sami looked at Sara and said thanks, you have shown that at least I can depend on you. He never said anything though he know Sara was doing rowdy work. Throughout, from leaving Vani house right up to Poo marriage, Sami, through omission or through commission, was definitely showing that he had no problem with what Sara was doing. One instance was when Rani yelled at Sara for missing exam and Sami turned it into you r upset Sara was rude to your sis, totally bypassing the real problem of his own son's stopped education. Other instances where he was tacitly saying leave him alone, I know what he is doing, he is doing this for his family types dialogue, when Vani herself spoke to him he told her to butt out of his family affairs, so he did give a tacit approval to Sara to go be a rowdy. Only Gautam and Vani were worried and protested about it. No one else did. Not Rani, not Thenu, not Selvi and definitely not Sami.

I dont know where this is coming from. Are you referring to his behaviour with Poo? I am not going to touch on that situation at all. But that apart, I do not believe he came across as such a jerk, more like a highly conflicted but loving dutiful son trying to hold his father's family together.
