Vani Rani - Episode 351 (Saturday, 17th May, 2014)
351, what an episode! I've watched it 3 times and I still have no idea how to describe it adequately in words! 😲 So here I am, on my 4th viewing, trying my level best to do justice to the nuances and subtleties of 351, already knowing in my hearts of hearts that it just will not be possible! 😳 Take a bow Team VR, it's a standing ovation from me! 👏
Written Update
Episode continues from yesterday where the villains block Vani's Pajero with their car. They carry weapons and search the Pajero but find only the driver in it. When questioned at knife point about the whereabouts of Sara, the driver coolly tells them he has no idea and the Pajero is on its way back after being serviced in Thirunelveli. The villains look around stumped. (Even Vani's driver is so courageous when faced with a life threatening situation, so how on earth did puzhi'ke poranthathu punai ache? Yes, I am talking about our very own Sodabuddhi Surya here, my Gautham has always been the original Maaveeran of VR! )
In Vani's house, Thenu and Surya come home and are questioned by Bhoomi about their delay in returning. Thenu confesses that she had compelled Surya to accompany her to meet Swami but he has not returned to the house in 2 days. Bhoomi tries to pacify her that Swami may have just stepped out to the tea stall for a drink but Thenu remains unconvinced. Bhoomi tries to convince Thenu that Swami will not stay away from them for long and things will return to normal soon. He asks her to be brave for Rani's sake as Rani would be disturbed seeing Thenu crying. The three of them agree that it's best they conceal Swami's disappearance from Rani.
Meanwhile, Vani and Point return with Sara in a different car. The trio of Thenu, Bhoomi and Surya look stunned to see them. Thenu calls out to Rani and the trio rush out to welcome Sara. Vani, who is on the phone with someone, and Point are happy to see the reunion. Rani rushes out followed by Gautham. (I love how Rani and Gautham are always portrayed as a team, I have always felt that Gautham is the most affectionate amongst all the kids towards Rani and Swami, and I especially love how he calls her Rani Ma instead of Chitti and always seems the most concerned when she is unwell, it is usually Gautham you find waiting on Rani, be it after she fainted in the recent episodes or even during the hospital scenes, the bond he shares with her and used to share with Swami is very heartwarming and has always been, for me at least, an important USP of VR.)
Rani rushes towards Sara and examines all his injuries while questioning him on what happened before she embraces him. Mother and son cry their hearts out while the whole family looks on in tears and Vani smiles in happiness. Vani asks Rani if she is happy now that Vani has returned her son to her, Rani calls out Akka in tears and continues to hold Sara close. Sara tells Rani not to cry and promises her that now that he has returned, he will not leave her again. An angry Rani shuts him up and tells him off for being irresponsible while Vani looks on in amusement. Rani taunts Sara for going into hiding like a coward and Vani looks uneasy watching this. Rani tells Sara nothing improved by his disappearance and in fact, their problems have increased since then. Vani tries to stop Rani by saying Sara has returned after facing much hardship but Rani asks her what great hardship could he have encountered. She asks Vani how is she to depend on Sara for her livelihood when he could not even be responsible for the money that was due to his boss who had entrusted him with it. Sara tries to explain but Rani shuts him up saying they have a lot of responsibilities, especially towards Thenu, and how is she to depend on a coward like him for it anymore. Sara tries to explain that he is a victim of circumstances but Rani shuts him up and embraces him and polambufies that she was so upset and worried without him, how could he do this to her. Vani tries to pacify her that Sara is now back and all their problems will be solved soon. Rani counters that if not for Vani bringing him back, Sara would have spent his whole life as a fugitive in hiding. Rani asks Sara how could he go into hiding for losing money, money can be earned but what would she do if anything had happened to him. Sara falls at her feet to beg for forgiveness. He tells her his fear got the better of him and he could not think. Rani tells him there is nothing to fear as long as Vani is around and Vani looks touched to hear this. Rani updates Sara that Karuppu has survived and Sara is safe from being charged for murder. She tells him there is nothing to fear if he has not intentionally committed a sin. Rani finally realizes that they have all been standing outside and welcomes Sara into the house.
Rani prepares buttermilk for Sara while everyone else is seated at the dining table. (Kutty sidebar story, the other day, the significant other and yours truly were out for lunch, we ordered mooru and the waiter with a straight face told us they only have tairu, they cannot make us mooru. The significant other was dumbstruck while yours truly burst into laughter. 😛) Rani serves the buttermilk to Sara while Thenu stands beside him with her arm around his shoulder. Rani tells him to have the buttermilk then shower while she prepares lunch and a hot compress for him. Surya say that Sumuga Vinayagar saved Sara while Gautham counters that it is Vani who saved Sara. (Yenathu, dining table rombe aaduthey, athukkum VRYPMS makkal mathiri screw loose'ah? 🤣 Also, nice picture of Gautham on the wall! ❤️) Everyone tries to make Sara drink the buttermilk while Vani advises him to forget the past and come back to his normal self. Sara apologizes to all of them and especially to Bhoomi for his past bad behavior towards Vani, Bhoomi and Gautham. (Inggeyum Surya've comedy piece aakithanggala? ) Sara tells them he is ashamed of his behavior and says he wasn't himself and blames Poo for changing the path of his life. (Yenathu, puthu kathai'ah irukke, ivan buddhi kettu poi muttal mathiri kariyam senjithe, pavam Poo mela pazhiya thukki poderan? 😡 Chi, ivanlam oru ambalai'ah, sagikala! 🤢 Ivanakku namma Karthik yevvalo mel! Intha explanation'ah rebut panama ellarum kethethe irukkangale, ithuthan miga periya athisayama yenakku thonethu. At the very least, Vani who always dictates right and wrong should have pointed out what an utter arse he is being by blaming Poo for his inherent cowardliness, I'm truly very disappointed by everyone's silent acceptance here! 🤢)
Vani tells him there is a greater power above them who decides everything and they should place their faith in Him and go on. She tells him to live his life on the right path. Sara counters that he was always on the wrong path and had gone against all of them under the influence of his father. (What the hell, does this coward have no brain of his own or any sense of responsibility for his actions? 😡 He knowingly chose this path and yet now he is conveniently shoving all the blame onto Poo and Swami! 😡 Very disappointed in his characterization, Sara has to be the most selfish and manipulative protagonist of VR and I'm utterly disappointed that none of the family members have called him out on it or pointed it out to him! 🤢) Rani joins them and tells Vani that Sara has changed just like she said he would and emphasizes to Thenu that Sara was fine while he was mommy's boy and only started to go down the wrong path when he became daddy's boy and taunts Swami saying he got angry when she pointed this out to him and questions where will he put his face now after what Sara had just said. Vani tries to stop her from speaking like that but Rani adamantly continues that if only Sara had realized this earlier, she would have used him to bring Swami to heel and all these problems would have not arisen, how could she not be angry at him now. (Ok, I have never agreed with Rani's nature of putting Vani before Swami and still believe that it is this nature of hers which led to all the problems they are now facing, if Rani hadn't been selfish about wanting to remain with Vani, Swami would have broken away from Bhoomi's shadow decades ago and in all probability made something useful and worthwhile of himself, it sucks that instead of realizing this, everyone is so quick to judge Swami solely based on his recent actions born out of years of frustration. Perhaps if just once Rani had said to Swami that she has faith in him that he will come up in life without Vani's help instead of constantly rubbing it on him that they are nothing and they cannot achieve anything without Vani, Swami would not have developed such a level of low self esteem. Rani may be a mahaan sister but for me she is a failure of a wife and mother for always putting Vani before her own family. Enough said!)
Vani tells Rani to stop it as Swami's anger is justified from his point of view. (Thank you, my point exactly, his anger is justified, it is his actions that are over the top!) Vani scolds Rani for her over the top reactions that lead to the problem with Swami exploding the way it did while Rani looks unconvinced. (For the first time I am seeing arrogance in Rani and I'm not liking this change one bit!) Rani counters that although she spoke in anger, her words rang true. She points out that she is uneducated but Swami is highly educated so how could he say such things. Vani looks away in irritation. Rani emphasizes how is she to keep silent when someone insults Vani and Vani looks uncomfortable hearing this. Sara tells them he does not understand what is going on while Bhoomi asks Vani why did she not update Sara on the way back. Vani tells him the situation was not favorable and when questioned repeatedly by Rani and everyone else, reluctantly explains about the danger posed by Kathir's henchmen and how she had thwarted their efforts to ambush them and kill Sara. She warns Sara that he is to remain there safely until she gives the all clear and Sara agrees. Rani, however, tells Vani she has challenged Swami that she will bring Sara to him as soon as Vani rescues him. (Suttham!) Vani scolds her and points out that there is no guarantee for Sara's safety beyond the boundaries of the house and updates them on how the rowdies had ambushed her driver. Bhoomi panics and Vani reassures him that she has spoken to the Commissioner and arranged for protection for Sara. She emphasizes that it is their responsibility to watch over Sara until they come up with a solution to the mess he is in. Rani panics but Vani tells her that as long as Sara does not leave the house, he will be safe. Rani asks Vani how to inform Swami that Sara is back. Sara questions why they cannot return to their house and Thenu tells him they no longer live there. Upon repeated questioning, Rani reluctantly updates him about the fight between her and Swami and once again says that she would have been silent had Swami questioned the existence of God but how could he question Vani without whom they are nothing. Vani shakes her head in exasperation at this and tells Rani not to keep repeating this useless information. Sara tells Vani not to say that and that it is she who had given him confidence when he had called Swami (Definitely did not seem that way at that point.. 🤔) and Gautham who had come to his rescue, which is when he had realized their love for him. He adds that he thought he was headed for death until Gautham stood by him and made him realize there was still life ahead of him. He regrets that he had gone against them when they had only fought for what was best for him. He credits everything he is to Vani and Rani points out to him that is what she has always been saying to them. She tells him she is confident Swami will also realize this one day and repent. Sara insists Rani comes with him to meet Swami so that they can make him understand that his anger is wrong and not beneficial to anyone. Sara tells them he has learnt this lesson the hard way in recent times and tells Rani he is confident Swami will listen to him. Vani stops him and scolds him for his stupidity while Bhoomi points out the danger he is in. Sara laments how is he to be in peace while his parents are separated. Vani tells him he is to remain here, whether or not he remains in peace is a matter for another day. (Super punch dialogue!! 👍🏼 This is my second favorite punch dialogue this week after Surya's "Sura thenggai for Sumuga Vinayagar"! 😆) Vani sternly warns all of them to remain safely indoors until the danger to Sara's life is averted. Rani agrees and pacifies Sara that they will meet Swami at a later date. Bhoomi tells Rani sternly to focus on being happy rather than being right. Vani advises Rani to not judge Swami's anger and to forget the past and focus on the present. She questions if Gautham had given Rani her meds and Rani defends him saying he is very punctual with her meds. (See, another instance of the Gautham-Rani bond, he is in charge of her meds despite being injured himself. 👍🏼 Surya, appadina anga unnoda role yennapa, vetti officer mattum thana? 👎🏼) Rani chases Vani off to have a bath so they can have lunch and Vani smilingly leaves. Episode ends on Sara and Vani looking on as Vani walks away. Thodarum! (Anyone else found it amusing that Bhoomi said "Let's go" to Vani when Rani chased her off to have a bath? 😆 Ok, obviously watching RangRasiya is giving me a gutter mind, lol! 😳)
So there you have it friends, the written update of yet another dhamakedar episode of VR that no words can adequately describe or do justice to! I tried my best though, and I can only hope that it is good enough..
