Sports is supposed to bridge differences and bring people together. However, horror returned again to lives of innocent people early morning today (16 April 2013) when the world famous Boston Marathon saw twin explosions at the finish line. As per reports, at least three people have been killed and over 140 injured; 15 of them critically.

In this unfortunate scenario, we spoke to few TV actors (some of them are also sportsmen) to find out what they felt on the unfortunate incident. Manav Gohil, who is a part of the celeb cricket team Boxy Boyz, says, "It is very sad day for all. The concerned authorities need to take urgent proactive action rather than reactive measures to prevent more such ghastly incidents."

He further feels pain that sports which is meant to unite is repeatedly coming under the scanner of various terror groups. "Sadly this has happened before as well. Like Munich Olympic 1972 attack on Israeli athletes and the more recent attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team at Lahore."

Manav's teammate Sharad Kelkar shares, "Normally we always feel that sports can bring rival nations together. I can never forget the moment when the Pakistan cricket team led by Wasim Akram took a victory lap and was given a standing ovation by the crowd at Chennai many years back. Even today God of cricket Sachin Tendulkar is most loved across the border."

He laments, "But see what is happening now. An 8 year boy is one of the dead in Boston."

Gaurav Chopraa takes a more practical and hard-nosed view. "These guys will hit anything which is popular and is a soft target. They don't care if it is sports or anything else. As for politics and sports, let's face it, even the state intertwines both. Does India not regularly call of sporting ties with Pakistan? Regional sentiments have played a pivotal role in the current IPL (Indian Premiere League) wherein Sri Lanka players can't play in Chennai."

Here Gaurav moves slightly away from the topic and adds, "When I was watching the coverage early this morning, the newscasters kept saying that scores of people are down. We have become insensitive to repeated blasts now and are not bothered about the suffering of the victims."

Mandira Bedi who popularized cricket (Max Extra Innings) amongst the fairer sex says, "It was very bad as when the bombers struck at Boston there was a huge crowd. Terrorism mixing with sports is most horrible. "

However she does not think that the incident will lead to fear of something similar happening in the IPL. "Firstly security is already quite tight at cricket stadiums. And fortunately or unfortunately most cricketing nations have suffered from the scourge of terror (India, England and Sri Lanka etc). So they will not stop playing rather they will leave it to the security guys to do their job."

Finally, Sara Khan says, "she was deeply disturbed by the images from the blast site."

"I had a tough time sleeping after seeing the news. What really hurt me was that many of the victims will have to have their limbs amputated. One of the athletes went down on TV. I just hope that he does not have to face that same above horror for without feet how will he do something what he loves."

Tellychakkar.com's heart and thoughts go out to the victims of Boston blast. Let love and peace prevail in the world.
