Gaurav Chopra shoots in Lucknow

Lucknowites miling about the streets in Gomtinagar were surprised to hear gunshots in the middle of a hot Sunday afternoon.

But that was only till they chanced upon the scene of action, which happened to be the sets of the film " Rangdari", being jointly directed by Abhimanyu Mishra and Avinash Nanda that is currently being shot in the city and nearby areas like Mohanlalganj, Barabanki, Maharajganj, etc.

The film, which is based on organized crime in UP, includes the likes of Shakti Kapoor, Aman Verma, Raju Mavani ("Satya", "Wanted", "Sarkar") among its cast, with Gaurav Chopra ("Uttaran") playing the lead. Ikram Akhtar, who is writing the screenplay for the film said, "We are shooting the action sequences of the movie first and will be done with them very soon. We will be in town for a few more days, shooting at various locations."

On being questioned further about the film, Gaurav said, "The movie is about the intricacies and the hierarchy of organized crime in UP, and it's quite thrilling. We are doing the action scenes first because they are more intense and the locations are also at different places in the town."

The scene being canned in Lucknow on Sunday was of a gangwar, with Gaurav Chopra, brandishing a mean-looking gun. His all-white gear was splattered with what looked like blood, given the gory sequence. An excited crowd gathered in no time to make the most of this high-drama scene complete with racing jeeps and gun toting baddies. In fact, the film crew doubled up as traffic minders, with some guiding the vehicles around the site. The spectators clapped sportingly for every scene executed successfully.

While some of the cast is already in for the shooting, the female lead has not been disclosed as yet. Says Chopra, "The leading lady for this movie hasn't been disclosed. Even we are wondering who will it be... "

The film crew will be here for the next 15-20 days.
