I feel nehkam is to bring out posessiveness and jealousy in advait. Jasmine existence in story also was only to bring fatejo together and ensure there is always drama and negativity of some sort in the show.

Thing is that Jasmine was bad and Ekam is mahaan. Also, Tejo was good and Advait is evil and selfish.
