I am Indian and I too don't know about this. This is really shocking information.

Most of the Indian's too would not have been aware of this. Since as per law a man don't have second wife when first wife is alive and still not divorced.

I just think Jasmine has lost it

And Fateh as usual kuch bolega toh nai.....coz the manchild has no voice.

they do this in almost all their shows…one man with 2 women/ wives/ema or even one woman with 2 men..e.g. Choti Sardarni , molkki, nima denzongpa, Shakti astitva , and so many othersā€¦šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļøā€¦they are obsessed with this tangle of relationships…seems like Colors doesn’t know how to accept a monogamous one man one woman love story..they even got a second wife in barrister babu..thankfully it was a fake wedding but they wrote some love lines for the hero to say about this other woman ..and then after we fans made an uproar they conveniently forgot that they made the hero say this woman was his life long love šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚..

maybe this is practiced in certain parts of the world but I find it hard to believe that it is the law in 2021 in Indiaā€¦šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļøAnd I watch Nima…the mil said in the last episode that nima is the legal wife…that’s why the second wife is trying to get the husband to divorce Nima…so her marriage will be legal..because at the moment she is the other woman…meaning the mistress..so bigamy is not legal in Mumbai where they live…according to the show. šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø However bigamy is legal in certain Muslim countries I’ve read..and also it is legal only for Muslim people in some countries..so I’m not sure if that applies in India..but then it will only be for Muslim people only ….and in Nima they are Hindus…so It won’t apply to them..

I went ahead and google searched laws on bigamy in Goa and seems what the member said is actually correct. Goa does hv that law. Its pretty shocking to me dt this actually exists in a part of India and I hv never even heard an uproar abt it.

exactly..I’m also shocked because it’s promoting women oppression…so basically a girl child is inferior to a boy child…it’s also so stupid..because the sex of a child is determined by the father..as the sperm carries the X or Y chromosome that determines sex of a child..so how can it be law that a man can marry another woman to get a male child when he is the one who is responsible for the sex of a child šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø. I can understand if it applied only to Muslim people as there is some religious reason why Muslim men are allowed to marry multiple times..I’m not sure of the exact reason..as I’m not Muslim…but I thought it was more of a responsibility thing…to take care of the women..I could be wrong…but either way I don't understand why these big social organisations are not making an uproar about this ā€¦šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

Lol it's legal the same way marital rape is legal in India. BTW who told you that India, is about equality? Have you read the history of these laws? Or even the current judgements of HC/SC? Rapists are acquitted because the victim was their GF. Husband forcing himself on wife isn't a crime. We're one of the very few countries where marital rape isn't recognised as a crime. Women oppression is a part of our society, and culture. I know, it sucks.

It does apply to them and it is legal, when muslims are openly allowed to practice polygamy why would the law stop hindu men from going ahead with bigamy? If the law has a problem with it then just impose the UCC all over the country but they haven't done that yet so yes this is the law in India even in 2021, bigamy and polygamy is banned for hindus in most parts of India except Goa and the west coast, the funny thing though is that muslims here are not allowed to indulge in polgamous marriages but hindu men can have two wives for reasons permitted by the law. She didn't ask Suresh to divorce Nima to legalise her marriage, her marriage is already legal, the reason she told him to divorce her was because she didn't like being labelled as the second wife and can't tolerate his attachment to the first wife. The intention behind filing for divorce is to ensure that suresh completely cut off his ties with Nima not to legalise his marriage with tulika or because she is considered his mistress, tulika is his wife only and her marriage is already legal as they have registered it in the family court as well and got married infront of everyone, if that were the case then don't you think the MIL would have directly asked him to divorce her first?

Bigamy is legal here for hindu men under the circumstances permitted by the law itself, google it in case you don't believe me. There was a show called ghar ki lakshmi betiyaan where the same thing happened where the father married another woman just because his first wife couldn't bear a son.

Yep it is.

I dont understand how whether a woman can bear a child or not / a male child or not .....how does that become a ground for a second marriage ??? How is it even legal ? You can always adopt if you cant hv children . And this is gender bias. Its promoting gender bias. Its appalling that suc laws exist in today's times.
