Aru, I read your story twice..first time was very quick and on my phone ..Honestly, I didnt get all of it then..especially the dream and reality

I read it again last night after putting my daughter to bed..AND WOW!! I am more than impressed..So beautiful and haunting...Absolutely beautiful..👏
I am so greedy .. I really hope you continue to write more..
Thanks for this beautiful story

Thanks a ton Rajshree!

I doubt I will continue to write, though. I thought I had got over the fact that this forum isn't a great place for fic writers after writing and posting fics here for so many months, but the absolutely lacklustre response for something I put a lot of heart into and personally am very proud of is getting to me TBH.
So no more fic because I don't see the point of wasting time and energy on something nobody even wants to read. Even if I do feel the urge to write something (and I am possessed by the impulse quite often) I think I'd prefer to share it via PMs with you and a few others who are always so enthusiastic and sweet about stuff I write.

And to everyone who commented- Namita (always a sweetheart), Maithu, Zephyr and Srividya- thanks a lot, you guys!

I totally loved the haunting vibe from your story. This is really well written and I loved the detail you put into it. Couldn't take my eyes from it. With every word I got more immersed in the story. I guess all I can say is Amazing Job!
You would be a great publishing author if you tried...unless you are and you just dont say so 😆

Aradhana - sorry to read this so late...but I'm someone who needs to wait until I have time to read ...I don't like to skim through stuff, comment and move on...and the last few days have been personally hectic.
So hear goes...I had some major Harry Potter vibes when I started reading this - the scar itself, the burning, the lake visions...folks from the past coming...I knew the thinner paler version was Chunni and the kid -Imli's dead child the minute I read them...I have to say I hate that you provided hints :(
I am someone who prides myself on identifying the whodunnit before I reach the reveal and it takes away from the writing when you do it...almost like you are mocking the readers intelligence.

This was brilliant. It's not easy to pour so much into a story and you do it effortlessly. It is compact, subtle, angst (Imli episode), bit morbid, intense, self-examining, romance - the works...
What I did not want to happen just happened...have to run...will come back and finish my post.

No issues, Priya!

Haha the HP stuff was intentional, I put in the joke about the scar hurting to highlight it! As for making it too obvious, I figured a lot of people hadn't watched the show pre-leap, (that too people I was really looking forward to hear from) did not know there was such a character in the first place and didn't want to shut them out of the story. So I'm sorry you felt I dumbed it down. Couldn't be helped.

Ok back...
The fact that Chakor saw the grown up Suraj and he the little girl and they helped each other...during completely different times and subsequently get the scar...was very well done...you are really very very good.
The Lake!Suraj...reminded me of Math classes...I actually loved it...it was a clever way to distinguish between real and what was in the lake view.

I've not been in many forums and usually don't read fan fics...In fact Udaan I think is the first show where I've read these and if they are this good...maybe I should read other fanfics as well. There is an innate hesitation in reading them...because I think - that is not reality in the telecast story and wishful thinking and that I'm deceiving myself with what I'm reading and if I'm enjoying it very much...almost setting myself for disappointment. MAybe I'm just not creative enough to enjoy different takes and like absolutes better.
I'm not sure I explain myself well...but somehow I am weird in that I look for reality in show telling.
I'll tell you this though...I've absolutely enjoyed reading all of your ff's...it's like taking an onion and slowly peeling layer by layer and each is filled with so many surprises that I enjoy and when I'm done...I wonder if I've discovered them all...and go back and read to see if I can find something new and invariably I do and it thrills me no end.

I see what you mean with the lacklustre response...I'll tell you keep writing...Sukor chemistry and story is fodder enough to write these...and creativity like yours is never a waste of time. In some shape or form...your writing is growing with each post. We are lucky that we have something that is holding our interest and is inspiring...that in itself is hard to come by!!

🤗👏

In addition to Potter vibes...esp with the season...I was reminded of Scrooge as well 😊

PS: am a huge Agatha Christie fan...though more Poirot than Marple.

@Priya Oh God, I didn't realise this ended up becoming so much like "A Christmas Carol"! Spot on, though. I also inspired by "The Time Traveller's Wife" (didn't like the book much, but loved the concept. Also, for some reason, the movie Lekin...it's just so eerie and beautiful at the same time.
You should definitely read more fanfic. Sometimes the stories end up being really beautiful and just as good (or even better) than published writers (*cough*Chetan Bhagat*cough*). The book and Hollywood TV fandoms have amazing writers and I have learned to write partly from them as well!

I'll use this post to point some more things in this fic as I'm not sure exactly how much you have watched pre-leap:

The Mumbai bit, Bombay blood group and even the mole on the opposite side of the neck are canon. Chakor tried to make everyone realize Chunni was an impostor because she didn't expect her to have it and she did, but on the opposite side! IDK about her being left handed, but Meera is.

Also, the first time his scar burned...I'm sure you know which scene I was referring to!

Edited:

I forgot to say, thank you so much Priya 🤗 I'm always looking forward to reading your comments on what I write because you're always the one to notice the tiny details.
And that onion analogy was brilliant! 😳
I love her too, read everything she's written and yes, Poirot is #1 on my fictitious detectives list...but why did this come up? Am I forgetting something? 😆

@Aradhana - even though I have not watched Udaan fully pre-leap - I had peripheral awareness of the overall plot and had caught the Chunni track in particular ... while surfing channels. I remember the scene with Chakor and other kids locked in the room. I may have continued to watch then...but i did not like the whole impersonating act with cap etc. Also - I don't like to do anything half measure - so I've attempted to piece the story together by watching Voot while in India and reading some synopsis(s). I did not know about the opposite side mole.
Did it burn first time during the almost kiss? My sense of timeline is terrible...was his hand just hurt then?

I saw you mention that you had recently re-read - And then there were none - 10 little indians...hence the mention.
