Chapter Three

Friendship is not something that happens at first sight.

It happens when ...

Its night time. Aaditya is sleeping near Aabha. Aabha is waiting for Ishwar to return home. The doorbell rings and Aabha carefully gets up from Aaditya's side and goes in the hall to open the door. Its Ishwar. Today Ishwar looks very tired and upset. Aabha asks him

Kya baat hai aaj aap kuch jayda thake hue lag rahe hai. Kaam kuch jayda tha kya? Chaliye koi baat nahi app fresh ho jaayie aur main aapke liye khana garam kar ke laati hu. Ishwar without saying anything just nods to whatever she has said and goes in his room.

After some time both Aabha and Ishwar are sitting on the dining table.

Aabha: Kya baat hai. Please muje batayie.

Ishwar: Aabha hamara tabadla ho raha hai.

Aabha: Kya?

Ishwar: Ha yaha se 100 km door ek gaon hai Aazadganj vahi par hame trasfer kiya ja raha hai.

Aabha: Par aisa kaise ho sakta hai? Aap to inta accha kaam karte hai aur phir..

Ishwar cuts her in between and says

Yahi to baat hai na Aabha ki hum bahut jayda hai accha kaam karte hai. Humne us politician ke khilaf kuch saboot ekththe kiye the aur ek bahut accha case bi banaya tha corruption ka. Par na jane use kaise pata chal gaya aur usine hamara tabadla karvaya hai.

Aabha: Par Ishwar us gaon me hum kaise rah sakte hai. Aadi ka school, uski padhai, aur hamara yaha par jo sab kuch hai vo sab kaise chodkar ja sakte hai.

Ishwar: School ki tension mat lo. Aazadganj me abi ek bahut accha school khula hai. Hume to bas iska bura lag raha hai ki kabhi kabhi aap halat ke aage kitne majboor ho jate hai. Hum ab vaha jane se mana bi nahi kar sakte aur koi bi us politician ke khilaf kuch nahi sunna chahta. Hum kya kare kuch samjh me nahi aa raha.

Aabha takes his hand in her hand and asks him

Kab niklana hai yaha se?

Ishwar feels better holding Aabha's hand and tells her looking into her eyes

---- Morning time Aazadganj ------

Bhuvan enters his home shouting are o Chakoriya ki Mai sunti ho.

Kasturi: Kaa hai Chakoriya ke bapu. Kaa hua.

Bhuvan: Toka pata hai aaj hamre gaanv me ek naye police babu aa rahe hai. Humka unke ghar me unki dekh rekh ki zimmevaari diye hai sarpanch ji.

Kasturi: Kaa ei to bahut accha hai Chakoriya ke bapu par tohe e kaam ke paise kinte mile hai.

Bhuvan: Poore 500 rupaya mili hai.

Kasturi: Ei to bahute badhiya hua. Ab hum sab kheti ke saath saath ei kaam bi karihe aur apni dono bitiya ke khoob padhihie. Chakoriya ke baapu hamre liye baat kar lo na oha kaam ke khatir.

Bhuvan: Thik hai Kasturiya hum aaj hi sarpanch ji se baat karat hai ki u tohe bi kaam pe rakh de.

Kasturi gets very happy because 1000 rs. per month is a huge amount for her. She starts preparing the budget as to how much will go for her daughters' school. How much she will keep for buying equipment for their farm etc.

After all today was not an ordinary day.

---- 6.00 pm Aazandganj -----

Bhuvan and other villagers are waiting eagerly for Ishwar and his family. They have made flower garlands to welcome the new Deputy Commissioner. The entire village seems very happy. Two three people have gone to Station to pick up Ishwar and his family. Others are waiting in the village and have done so much preparations that it appears like a festival. Ishwar's cottage has been cleaned twice, decorated with flowers. Small diyas are placed on all the doors. It's a big day for the people of Aazandganj and for Chakor and Aaditya.

And finally Ishwar arrives the spot putting an end to chaos. Villagers are very happy to see Ishwar. They have been waiting for him so long.

The head of the village welcomes Ishwar with flower garlands and asks his servants to bring the welcome drinks for Ishwar and his family. The villagers start gathering around Aabha, Ishwar and Aaditya.

Some of them bends down to touch Ishwar's feet. A lady tries to touch Aaditya's feet. He gets really uncomfortable with so much of attention. He asks Aabha

Maa ye sab kya hai? Itne saare log. Inhe yaha se jane ke liye kahiye na Maa. Hame bahut ajeeb lag raha hai.

Aabha tells him to wait. Ishawar looks at Aaditya and understands that he is not feeling comfortable. He comes forward and addresses the villagers

Aap sabka bahut bahut dhanyvaad. Aap logone bahut acchi tayari ki hai. Ye sab dekhkar hame bahut khushi hui. Par hamara aap sabse nivedan hai ki agli baar aap aisa kuch na kare. Hum yaha aap logo ki seva karne aaye hai. Aap logo ko hamari seva karne ki jarurat nahi. Aap sab yaha kaafi der se khade hai. Ab aap sab apne apne ghar jayiye. Hum kal se hi aap log ki seva me jut jayenge.

The Sarpanch to take advantage of the situation and to be in Ishwar's good books asks his men to clear the crowd.

When the crowd gets cleared the Sarpanch introduces Ishwar to Bhuvan. He tells him that Bhuvan is going to take care of his house and is his servant. Then he introduces Kasturi to Aabha.

Bhabhi ji ye hai Kasturiya. Ye aapke ke yaha khana banayegi. Bahute accha khana banati hai.

Aabha thanks him and asks Kasturi about her family.

Kasturi: Hum o jo uha khade na unki patni hai. Aur hamari do bitiya hai. Ek ka naam hai Imli aur dusri ka Chakor.

Aabha: Are waah ye to bahut acchi baat hai. Kaha hai aapki dono betiyaan.

Kasturi: Imli to ghar ma soi rahi par ei Chakoriyan to yahi rahi kaha chali gayi.

She sees Chakor playing with a boy of the village. She calls her and Chakor comes running towards her.

Kasturi: Ei hai hamri Chakor.

Aaditya who was hiding behind Aabha leans a bit to see who he is Chakor. He leans down standing behind Aabha such that only his half face is visible. He looks at Chakor and at the same time Chakor looks at him.

Chapter Four

Friendship is not something that happens at first sight.

It happens when you start knowing each other and in turn end up needing each other,

for every feeling, for every thought and for every moment.

Aaditya leans down to look at Chakor and at the same time Chakor looks at him. He smiles looking at her and she also smiles looking at him.

Kasturi looks at Aaditya leaning behind his mother and aska Aabha

Ei bachua aapka hoi hai na

Aabha asks Aaditya to come forward and tells Kasturi that he is her son Aaditya.

Kasturi: Bada pyaara bachua hai. Aur bahute accha naam hai Aaditya.

Aabha: Haa aur aapki bitiya bi bahut pyaari hai.

Aabha continues talking to Kasturi about the village and the conditions of it. Chakor and Aaditya didn't talk that day. But somehow couldn't forget each other's name.

----- Next morning Ishawar's cottage----

Kasturi has reached the cottage to prepare food for Rawat family. She goes in the kitchen and starts making food. Aaditya wakes up and goes to the kitchen directly. He is very hungry because he slept yesterday without eating anything. He sees that someone else is working in the kitchen and is about to leave but Kasturi stops him.

Kasturi: Ka baat hai Aaditya Babua kachu chahat hai tumka

Aaditya: Ha kaaki vo kuch khane ko hai kya hame bahut bhook lagi hai

Kasturi: Bas itni si baat babua batayie ka chahi hum jhat se bana diye he

Aaditya: Thik hai to aap hamare liye paratha aur achaar bana dijiye aur ha hame parathe aaloo wale chahiye.

Kasturi: Thik hai babua bas thoda sa bakhat(waqt) lag jahihe tum tab tak naha dhoki aa jao.

Aaditya: Thik hai kaaki hum abi jaldi se naha ke ate hai aap khana tayaar rakhiyega.

--- Same time kasturi's house ------

A little girl is crying. She is very beautiful, Cute, chubby and has made a side pony tail. She is wearing a lehanga choli and is looking super cute.

Chakor: Ka baat hai Imlu. Kaahe ro rahi hai.

Imli: Deee Deee humka Mai ke paas jaye ka hai. Mai kaha gayi.

Chakor: Imlu mai kaam kare ka khatir gayi hai. Kahi thi na toka 2 ghante me aa jahie Mai.

Imli: Naahi dee dee humka abhi hi jaye ka hai Mai ke paas.

Chakor tries to convince Imli but she refuses to budge. And Chakor gets irritated with Imli's continuous crying. So she decides to take her to Kasturi's workplace and i.e. Rawat House.

Imli and Chakor reaches the Rawat house and starts looking for their mother. Aabha sees them and recognizes Chakor.

Aabha: Chakor tum yaha kya kar rahi ho aur ye kaun hai tumahare sath

Chakor: Maalkin ei hamri bahen hai Imli.

Aabha: Beta aap muje maalkin kyun bula rahi hai.

Chakor: O humse Mai kahe rahi ki aap hamri maalkin hai.

Aabha: Nahi beta hum aapki maalkin nahi hai. Hum to aapki mausi hai.

Chakor and Imli look at each other and both asks together.

Mausi?

Aabha: Aap dono to bilkul hamai Aadi jaisi ho. Matlab ki hamari betiyaan. Aur beta mausi yaani ki maa jaisi. Ab se aap dono hame mausi hi bulayengi.

All three of them smile looking at each other. Aabha invites them for breakfast and tells them that Kasturi is in kitchen. They both go to the kitchen where Aaditya is having his aaloo ke paratha prepared by Kasturi.

Imli: Mai tu kahe chali gayi thi. She hugs kasturi and then sees the aaloo parathas.

Wah aaloo ke paratha ei humka bi khaye ka hai.

Kasturi: Naahi bitiya abhi naahi. Tu ghar chal hum tore liye dusre banay dihe. Abhi aaditya babu ke kha ka de

Imli refuses. Aaditya tells Kasturi that she should let Imli eat because he is already full.
Chakor is just standing there and not saying much. Aaditya goes towards Chakor and offers her a paratha.

Chakor: Naahi humka na chahi.

Aaditya: Kyun? Ye to tumhari Maa ne hi to banay hai aur bahut acche hai. Kha kar to dekho.

Chakor takes a bite from the paratha.

Aaditya: Ye hui na baat. Tumahara naam Chakor hai na. Hum jante hai. Kal humne tumhe dekha tha.

Chakor: Ha hum bi janat hai. Tum Aaditya ho. Kal hum bi tumka dekhe rahe.

Aaditya: Tum school jati ho? Aur tumahare kitne dost hai?

Chakor: Hum abi sacool naahi jaat hai. Par ab jaldi hi jahihe. Hamre to bahut dost hai eha. Chagan, billu, raani...

Aaditya: Hamare to saare dost Kanpur me hi choot gaye. Hume unki bahut yaad aa rahi hai. Kya tum hamari dost banogi.

Chakor thinks for some time and then nods.

Chakor: Ha thik hai hum tumahre dost banhihe.

Aaditya: Wow. To chalo high five ho jaye.

Chakor; High five e ka hovat hai.

Aaditya raises his hand and tells Chakor to do the same. Chakor imitates Aaditya and Aaditya gives her a high five. They both laugh.

Chakor: Chala hum tumko aam ke bagicha ma leke chalet hai. Uha bahute acche aam hai aur hum tumko aapan saare dostan se bhe milivahe.

She suddenly recollects that both chagan and billu have gone to their grandmother's place. She puts her hand on her head and says

Are mori maiyaan! Hum to bhul hi gaye the ki chagan aur billu to apni naani ke ghar gaye hai.

Aaditya: Koi baat nahi. Hum dono chalet hai. Ab jaldi karo.

Aaditya informs Aabha that they are going out.

They take Imli along with them. All three of them go to the Mango garden where they eat some really delicious mangoes. They played a lot of games. Then they rested under the mango tree. Chakor and Imli tells a lot of stories of the village to Aaditya. Aaditya also talks about Kaanpur and his friends. They had a lot of fun and in afternoon on their way back to home Aaditya tells Chakor that he had a great time with them.

Aaditya: Kal phir chalogi hamare sath aam ke bagiche me. Hume tumhare sath khel ke bahut maja aaya.

Chakor: Ha ha kahe nahi kal bi hum sab log jahihe aam ke bagiche me. Aur kal to billu aur chaganva bi aa jahihe nani ke ghar se.

Aaditya: Tab to aur bi Jayda maja aayega. Par suno Chakor ab se tum hume Aadi kah ke bulaya karo.

Chakor: O kahe?

Aaditya: Kyuki hamare saare acche aur close friends hame aadi keh kar hi bulate hai.
