Robert Pattinson's "The Summer House" tops iTunes charts

By Kim Palacios
Robert Pattinson's 2008 short film, "The Summer House" dominated iTunes immediately following its recent release, topping movie sales charts in the U.S., Canada, Ireland, and Germany after a mere four hours. The July 13th iTunes release marked the first occasion on which the film had been distributed for mass consumption, having only been run on the festival circuit during the prior year.
The film is an adaptation of a coming-of-age story in which a teenage girl (Jane) summering at an aunt's chateau in rural France discovers the complexity of romantic relationships—both those of certain family members, as well as her own. Rob plays the role of 18-year-old Richard, the love interest of Jane. Having broken up with her to date another woman prior to her departure for the summer, once dumped by the other, he appears unexpectedly at Jane's retreat to win her back. Through a series of benign advances (e.g., love letters) and other more forceful attempts, he pushes Jane to come farther into herself.
