Has any sequel had so many issues before it had even started?

Twilight 's follow up, New Moon, appears to have been blighted since the mega opening both in America, the UK and New Zealand.

First there was the news director Catherine Hardwicke wouldn't be back after a conflict over scheduling.

She was consequently replaced by director Chris Weitz (The Golden Compass).

Then there came the problem that the powers that be were a bit uneasy over the casting of Taylor Lautner as Jacob Black and whether he'd be able to handle the meatier role his character has in the second novel.

His part in Twilight is fairly minor compared to his role in the second one which sees him involved in a war between werewolves and vampires (which was hinted at throughout the first film).

But it's now been revealed the 16-year-old will be back in New Moon which is looking at a US November release.

Director Chris Weitz has given Taylor the nod, and has told the BBC: "My first instinct that Taylor was, is and should be Jacob Black."

In the same article, Taylor himself is quoted as saying: "My experience on Twilight was wonderful and I am looking forward to continuing on with the team for New Moon," said Lautner. "I have been working hard preparing for the physicality that this role will require and can't wait to get started with the filming of New Moon."

Well, that clears that up then - so it's onwards and upwards for Bella, Edward and Jacob...for now.

Twilight' Fans: Here's An Edward Cullen To Call Your Own

Action figures based on Robert Pattinson are available for preorder.

By James Montgomery

Attention, "Twilight" fans. If you've long dreamed having a "fully articulated" Edward Cullen of your very own, well, now you're in luck.

Very soon, at a Hot Topic near you, you'll be able to get your hands on the brooding "Twilight" hero, in action-figure form, at least.

The Edward Cullen figure — currently up for preorder on Hot Topic's Web site — retails for $16.99, sports "beautiful articulation with movable limbs" and is decked out in a blue button-down shirt, jeans and a gray peacoat. It's 11.5 inches tall and comes packaged with an exclusive Cullen family crest and is also apparently "imported," though we're not exactly sure from where.

According to Hot Topic, the preorder runs until January 13, and the Cullen figures will be delivered on or around January 20.

Of course, if a mere action figure won't slake your Cullen mania (and if you've got significantly more cash to burn), there's also the limited-edition Edward Cullen figure, hand-sculpted by the folks at Tonner Character Figures. Retailing for $139.99, the deluxe Cullen figure is sculpted from the likeness of "Twilight" star Robert Pattinson (before he cut off his epically coiffed hair), stands 17 inches tall, and features 14 points of articulation. He's hand-painted, dressed in a T-shirt, jeans and shoes with working laces (bonus!) and comes with "rooted saran hair" (which is totally the best). There's also a Bella Swan figure (dressed in a peasant top, jacket and corduroys), but maybe you'll just want Edward to yourself.

The Tonner figures (set to ship this spring) are apparently just the first in a series of deluxe "Twilight" figures Tonner will manufacture. They're currently available for pre-order through the manufacturer's Web

Robert in trouble for cutting his hair:

British actor Robert Pattinson is in trouble with producers of Twilight for secretly snipping his famous long locks, says his co-star Ashley Greene.

Pattinson is known for his bouffant hairdo, but was pictured last month sporting a much shorter, cropped style. And the radical change left producers on the vampire movie's sequel fuming, because Pattinson has signed on to reprise his cult character in "New Moon", which begins shooting in March.

Imdb.com quoted Greene as saying: "I heard he got in trouble for cutting his hair. But what can I say? I like guys with longer hair. I think he's getting enough flack, I'm sure. I mean his every move is recorded and photographed and documented, so I'm not going to give him a hard time."

Robert Pattinson thinks he is a gentleman because he never tells a girl to change for him.

When it comes to treating girl properly, Robert Pattinson thinks he is a gentleman. Providing an evidence to that, he says, "I don't tell [a girl] how she has to be for me. I don't want her to change herself for me."

Talking about girls of his dream, Pattinson reveals he likes "talented girls." He admits, "If she's really talented, I don't really care about the other things." Also he frankly claims that he "would rather go out with girls than with guys", while jokingly adding, "but if I tried to hit on every girl around me, then I would lose those friendships."

In line with girls, Pattinson confesses he believes in love at first sight, about which he gushes, "It's absolutely possible that you can meet someone on the street and suddenly fall in love with that person. That often happens to me."

Considered as a hunk and ladies' man, Robert Pattinson has been romantically linked to a number of actresses, including Camilla Belle and his "Twilight" co-star Kristen Stewart. Despite the mounting dating speculation, he has insisted he is dating no one.

As for the girl of his dream, he previously admitted he is looking for "the worst - mental, strong women." He was quoted as stating, "The stuff I find attractive in women, I always regret finding attractive. I always like a kind of madness in a woman, and when they are really, really strong", adding, "But I like it when they hate me right from the beginning."

Why Oscar Might Want to Reward Robert Pattinson, Reconsider Chris Rock

Tue., Feb. 24, 2009 3:01 PM PST by Joal Ryan

Robert Pattinson John Shearer/Getty Images

Why are Robert Pattinson and Zac Efron owed tips from Oscar organizers? Why is Chris Rock owed an apology from the Oscar press? And when the heck is Nielsen going to start folding in Web and mobile-phone use—and start saving your favorite endangered show?

The answers—and more questions—in this week's TV ratings pop quiz:

1. Did Pattinson and Efron really save the Oscars? Fans of Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway and Kate Winslet, among others, say, "Are you outta your mind?" The numbers, however, suggest the two tween gods sure didn't hurt. The show's ratings among teens 12-17 and kids 2-11 zoomed, up 25 percent and 33 percent, respectively, from last year, ABC said, citing Nielsen stats.

What's In Store For Robert Pattinson's Post-'Twilight' Future?

'I'm not looking specifically at any genre,' star says of his script selection.

By Larry Carroll, with reporting by Josh Horowitz

HOLLYWOOD' There was a time when it seemed like Paul Walker was the next big thing ' before he gave us "Timeline," "Into the Blue" and "Running Scared." Remember when Jon Heder seemed like the biggest star in the world, right before "Just like Heaven," "School for Scoundrels" and "Mama's Boy"? And then there was that Matt Damon guy, another overnight sensation who then went and made a bunch of "Bourne" and "Ocean's" movies.

OK, so things worked out for that last guy. The point is that when you're hot and new in Hollywood, you not only have to act fast ' you have to act in good movies. And right now, there's nobody hotter than "Twilight" star Robert Pattinson. So, what's he going to do next?

"I don't know," the newly christened A-lister said to MTV when we asked him if he was trying to "get" anything out of his recent Oscars attendance ' be it more recognition, new celebrity friends or even a job offer. "I don't know what to get out of it."

The refreshing thing about RPattz is that he's exactly as the Twilighters like him: honest, self-deprecating and unceasingly handsome. The bad news for his millions of fans, however, is that he pulled out of the film he was supposed to be making right now ' and with the news that "Twilight" sequels have him booked through at least late 2010, they have to wonder: Is he waiting too long to make a non-"Twilight" film?

"I haven't worked since the end of 'Twilight,' I've just been doing promotion stuff," Pattinson explained to us on the red carpet at the Oscars.

"But I have a gap in between, so I might do something in there, maybe," he revealed of a small window between "New Moon" and "Eclipse" that could have him filming something new in late 2009. "I'm just relieved that I can kind of do anything [different]."

Of course, Twilighters can look forward to the May 8 release of "Little Ashes," the long-awaited Salvador Dal biopic he filmed before "Twilight" gave him fame. But as for his pivotal first post-Edward Cullen choice ' the one that could determine if he becomes a Mark Hamill or a Harrison Ford ' Pattinson said he isn't sure which Hollywood script he'll select.

"I don't know, just scripts randomly appeal to me," he explained of his role-selection process. "I'm not looking specifically at any genre."

Since "Twilight" made him an overnight star, Pattinson has been flooded with hot Hollywood scripts ' but, he insisted, there isn't any common element that he is looking for in them. "There're a few things," he said. "And they are all completely different, so I don't know."

Pattinson is surprised, however, by how many "heartthrob" scripts are being sent his way. No matter how many women pledge their allegiance to his dreamy eyes and unwieldy hair, the English actor insists that he just can't think of himself as a beefcake.

"I'm so surprised it's worked out [that way]," he said of his status as a sex symbol. "I was just thinking the whole time that I've never had the personality to fit into that. I'm not really afraid of it, because I don't even know how to play up that aspect."

Still, Pattinson insisted, whenever he does select his first post-"Twilight" role, it likely won't be a traditional Romeo. "I don't know if I could ever be cast in a heartthrob role except for 'Twilight,' " he insisted. "And I didn't even know that was a heartthrob role."

Look out, Pattinson: 'New Moon' has new hunk
Courtney Hazlett
The Scoop
msnbc.com
updated 9:15 p.m. ET, Tues., Feb. 24, 2009

Move over, Robert Pattinson. A new supernatural heartthrob is set to hit the big screen. Pattinson, who starred as "Twilight's" leading man, vampire Edward Cullen, skips town after just two scenes in the franchise's sequel, "New Moon," making way for Taylor Lautner's werewolf, Jacob Black, to romance Kristen Stewart's character, Bella.

"I wanted to get 'Twilight' over with, let Edward have his time with Bella and get moving with 'New Moon,'" Lautner, 17, told Life & Style. "It's about time Jacob got in there."

The clean-cut Lautner added 30 pounds to his frame to help him unseat Pattinson and appear worthy of Bella's affections.

Robert Pattinson's movie split joy
(Agencies)
Updated: 2009-02-27 18:00

Robert Pattinson arrives at the 81st Academy Awards in Hollywood, California February 22, 2009. [Agencies]

Robert Pattinson can't wait to dump Kristen Stewart in his next movie.

The actor is set to reprise his 'Twilight' role of vampire Edward Cullen opposite Kristen's Bella in 'New Moon' and admits he is excited about filming the scenes where he ends their relationship.

When asked what he is looking forward to about the sequel, Robert replied: "The scene where we temporarily break up. On one hand, it's completely impossible. And on the other, it sets a very different tone to the series. I think it will be good."

The British star also spoke about working with a new director, Chris Weitz, on 'New Moon', saying he is expecting an "impressive" end result.

He added to MTV news: "I think there's going to be some continuity, but it's weird, because they are shooting it in a different city than the first film. I've talked to Chris a bit, but we've only talked about my character; I haven't really talked about the whole look of it. But Chris is great with visual stuff, so it should be pretty impressive."

Is Robert Pattinson Miserable in Hollywood?

Wed., Feb. 25, 2009 3:03 PM PST by Ted Casablanca

Robert Pattinson INFdaily.com

Like we exclusively told you earlier this week, Rob Pattinson was partying after the Oscars—at the swankiest of dos possible—looking as if he'd been told he could never have another drink. Ever. Natalie Portman managed to ease Patty-poo's nerves for a bit, but he still left the shindig alone.

A close friend to the Brit babe told us, "It's because [Hollywood] just so isn't his scene. All of this fame isn't what Rob's about."

We ferreted out some vintage Pattinson pics during his Harry Potter years, and just look at the difference in his mood during the promotional tours. Rob looks actually happy and excited in the early days, whereas he now looks overwhelmed and uncomfortable—particularly anytime he touches down in L.A.

Check out Robbie's more recent brooding, almost terrified faces, for yourselves and tell us how we can make Patty happy again, please?
