Taming the Shrew Take 11: Falling in Love with a Married Man

Falling in love with a married man is not supposed to happen. Yet, in Tellyland, it is not at all uncommon. In TP now it is Rhea; earlier it was Tanya.

The reasons that Rhea finds herself falling in love with Girish have been mentioned earlier. I am not going to restate them. I am only going to emphasize two.

Reason one:

For Rhea, Girish is usually older and therefore, in her eyes, more experienced and mature. Rhea considers herself more mature than others of her own age. The trauma of losing her parents at a young age and the need to fend for herself has made her "emotionally" grow up faster.

So it often happens that a girl who is growing up much faster than the boys around her thinks that they are childish and silly and finds herself dreaming about the charms of older men. The married man she has contact with, in this case Girish, seems so much more grown up and excitingly mature that he has become the object of her love rather than the boys of her own age who are still just "children."

Rhea in her infatuation is doing (IMO) some foolish stuff - like those "shahiri notes" and birthday party preparation. Now, she is thinking (with a little push from Anuja) perhaps of running away with Girish. Hopefully, she will outgrow this crush for Girish soon before she does something drastic and humiliating. Tanya was ready to murder Pakhi - I hope Rhea does not indulge in that kind of behavior. Although I call her behavior foolish - for Rhea, right now, her emotional entanglement with Girish is for real.

Personally, I do hope her bonding with Pakhi happens quick (as hinted in the precap). Because, she has no one she can talk to - about her feelings for Girish. Rhea is playing a dangerous game with Anuja. We all know how devilish Anuja can be. Once she gets to know that Rhea plans to destroy Lavanya's marriage she will torment Rhea forever.

Reason two:

We know that Indian society scorns the other woman. Marriage is such a sacred institution that any girl/woman who breaks a marriage is held in contempt by most people.

So, why are the CVs showing a girl falling for a married man?

I can think it is to convey that Rhea is so deeply troubled that she is unconsciously getting herself into disgrace as a way to hurt Veer. Somewhere deep in the recesses of her mind Rhea wants to socially disgrace Veer. She wants Veer to be held accountable for the breakage of Girish-Lavanya marriage. Perhaps because Rhea thinks that Veer was the cause of unhappiness in her parents married life?

This is clearly a very sensitive topic and is akin to opening a can of worms. So like you say it is interesting that the creative team has gone there!!! But I have faith this team of writers may have the maturity and talent to show how such an issue can be handled sensitively without destroying a family.

I completely agree with your first point. For Reha this first crush is very real and all consuming.

With regards to your second point I am not sure. I know she hates Veer but I am not sure she would go that far. I think her only desire is to be loved. As she says she has been starving for love all her life whilst she sees Girish showering love on Lavanya and their children so like a kid in a candy shop she wants some of that!!!

I personally think that there is a conflict within Reha, a tug of war if you will - on one hand she is angry and wants to hurt/punish Veer for losing her parents but also deep down a part of her knows that she is being unfair because her anger is really at her mother for loving someone other than her dad which caused the unhappy family life and led to their death.

I say this because she has said that her Dad found her mother's letters to her first lover, which caused all the problems. Only her mother can answer why she kept such letters so long after her marriage but she is not around. Veer as he has said is not very comfortable talking about his feelings so probably she probably does not know the truth about Veer - Kirti relationship ie that they never told each other how they felt so she has made Veer scapegoat for all that went wrong with her life.

Pakhi has got quite a dilemma on her hands as if she defends Veer than Reha will think that she only got close to her to try and plead Veer's case and her care/concern was just an act but if Pakhi does not try to make understand the truth than things between Reha and Veer will never get any better as the only person who can give Reha honest answers is not around.

Lets see how they solve this...

The irony in this situation is that Reha if she continues down the path she has started on, she will bring about exactly what she has suffered - breakdown of a family in this case Girish's family exposing his kids to the same pain and hurt that she suffered.

And perhaps that will be the point that will make her think and stop her going down this path.

Hi ladies,
Nice points. I agree with Payal where i don't think Ria is doing this to punish Veer per say. But really because she is craving love and unfortunately looking for it in unhealthy places.
Now that we are a little clearer on the real reason behind her animosity towards her father, we will learn more in todays episode.
You know they say you become what you hate sometimes... She sees Veer as being the destroyer of her parents marriage and she is putting herself in a position to become a home breaker.
I really hope that she dose not go down this path, and Paakhi is some how able to nip this in the bud before it blows way out!
It is a tangled situation, where Anuja is unwittingly helping some one destroy her own daughters home, trying to show Veer as an unfit parent... what worse than to say look Judge he raised a child with no morals and values...!
( On a side note this woman, as a woman who claimed to be hurt by her husband throwing her out of the house for being innocent, surely has no scruples about using children and leading them into all negative paths, thanks to her own grand son ended up behind bars, and now she is hell bent on teaching a young impressionable girl, this woman is the face of mother hood that is for sure!! )
So the question now is, would Paah-Veer be able to save thier daughter form her own path of self distruction and heart break...because although Girish may be displeased with Lavanya fact is he loves her and would not ear hurt her as such.
I really don't want to see Ria tun into some kind of Tanya shadow, the wearing Lavanya's clothes is scary behavior! , and with he witch like Anuja egging her on...God Help her...
