Zarina Wahab files cheating complaint
Wednesday, May 24, 2006 | City

Actress Zarina Wahab wife of actor Aditya Pancholi filed a cheating case with the Juhu police station on Tuesday afternoon.

In the FIR the actress has claimed she was duped of around Rs 24 lakh by Rakesh Sinha and his wife Malti. Zarina had invested part of her earnings in the Mahalaxmi money saving scheme run by the Sinhas.

The Juhu police has arrested his wife Malti while Rakesh and Johnny, his accomplice, are absconding. "There are 8-10 such complaints we have received against Rakesh. We are still investigating the matter and have yet to find the modus operandi in the case," said DCP Zone IX Amitabh Gupta.

When Mumbai Mirror contacted Pancholi he said he was saddened about the whole incident. "The person in question is my childhood friend. There are around 600 people who have been cheated and my wife is one of them. If he is guilty, he should be punished".

For Television Actors, Its Romance all the ways
It's like they meet, they work together, fall in love and live happily ever after. The list of TV couples seems to be just endless: Ram Kapoor–Gautami Gadgil, Varun Badola–Rajeshwari Sachdev, Poonam Narula–Manish Goyal, Mihir Mishra–Manini De, Hiten Tejwani-Gauri Pradhan (Pregrant!), Archana Puran Singh-Parmeet Sethi, Tanaaz Currim–Bhaktiyar Iraani, Amit Sadh-Neeru Bajwa, Manoj Bidvai-Ravee Gupta, Cezzane Khan-Shubha Verma and many more.

Hiten Tejwani and Gauri Pradhan were at loggerheads in the Balaaji serial Kutumbh but in contrast to what they were doing on screen, the duo hit it off very well in real life and got married sometime later. Now after a couple of years of marital bliss, the two are regarded as one of the hottest TV couples.

Rajiv Paul and Delnaaz have been together for 10 years now. "We met on the sets of Parivartan, which was in 1993," reveals Rajiv. But time seems to have only made the bond stronger. Similarly, Sai Deodhar and Shakti Anand also met on the sets of Saara Aaakash where love and later marriage happened.

Manav Gohil had played the role of Shweta Kawatra's sister-in-law Rinku Dhawan's hubby in Kahaani Ghar Ghar ki. The duo did not even realise when cupid struck. "Manav and I met on the sets of Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki. We were friends for a long time until we realised we were in love," reveals Shweta.

So what is it? Is it the case of realising the love for each other while enacting scenes or something else? "Yes. These things happen gradually. One doesn't plan to fall in love. While acting, even though actors are just playing a character, a strong mental attraction takes place and couples get drawn to each other," says the renowned psychiatrist Dr Sachchidanand.

But interestingly as we have noticed, its not necessary that only when two people share the screen as 'lovers' that they realise their compatibility. Like in the case of Kiran Karmarkar and Rinku Dhawan – they played brother and sister Om Agarwal and Chhaya in Kahaani Ghar Ghar kii when they realised that they were actually meant to spend their lives with each other.

Similar was the case with Yash Tonk who played brother-in-law to now wife Gauri Yadav in Kahin Kisi Roz. "I met Gauri on the sets of Kahin Kissi Roz. After a month of knowing each other, I realised that something special was brewing between us. So I proposed to her, and she said yes" And Gauri confesses, "Yash surprised me by proposing to me one fine day.''

According to Dr Sachidanand, time spent together on the sets plays a vital role in such cases. "It's very normal for TV actors to fall in love with each other. Because most of their time is spent on the sets and there is not much of a personal or a family life. So you tend to get drawn to someone from your second family, that's someone from the sets," says Kirti Gaekwad of Kammal and Sindoor – Tere Naam Ka fame who got married to actor Sharad Kelkar recently.

However Kirti and Sharad surprisingly did not fall in love when they first worked together. "We did a show called Aakrosh for DD and there was absolutely nothing between us. Then we met for CID Special Bureau which I eventually did not do. Then suddenly he asked me out on a date and proposed to me after a few days. Though he did tell me later he liked me when he first set his eyes on me. So guess something was brewing then too. Sinndoor was the first show we did together after getting involved," says Kirti about her relationship.

How they met and fell in love is another story but having a partner belonging to the same profession helps. "Having a spouse from the same field is great because there is better understanding between the couple. So even though it is the glamour world there is a lot of trust and faith," says Manav Gohil. "Being together with Archana (Puran Singh) has helped me a lot. We have that understanding between us. We have seen the pitfalls of success and failure together. An actor's life is very insecure. And only an actor can understand what the other is going through. We can discuss our work together and let out our frustrations which could range from troubling co-actors to professional inconvenience and everything else," says Parmeet Sethi.

"Even if I got a second chance I would like to get married to Archana only," he adds. Most of these couples met while working together. However some couples did not need to work together to fall in love. Like Rohit Roy-Manasi Joshi Roy, Apurva Agnihotri-Shilpa Saklani and the amazing romance of Manini De and Mihir Mishra.

They met, had a whirlwind romance and got married within days of knowing each other last year. That's called the quick (quickest rather) realisation of love. One year down the line Mihir is playing loving hubby and caring father to Manini's daughter Dianoor from her earlier marriage. Talking of director- actress bonds, actor-director Sachin Pilgaonkar and wife Supriya have been together for almost 20 years now. From the successful sitcom Tu Tu Main Main to being the Nach Baliye couple, the pair seemed to have done it all.

Actress Smita Bansal, who got married to director Ankush Mohla four years back, says, "For me it would have been difficult to settle down with someone from another profession. There are lot of factors involved like long hours, late nights and stress which only someone from this profession can understand."

Tumhari Disha star Chhavi Mittal who is married to director Mohit Hussein also shares the same view. "I do not know about other professions but in this profession it's better to have someone connected to this world.

There are erratic schedules, things getting delayed, round the clock work, something very different from other professions that's why its better to marry someone from the same field." And there are the very popular TV anchors Mandira Bedi and Mini Mathur who have been happily married to their respective director husbands (Raj Kaushal and Kabir Khan, partly involved with TV) for more than seven years now.

The immense success of the dance show Nach Baliye which had TV couples entertaining the entire country, shows that the viewers also like to watch such shows. And interestingly, these lovers have a better success ratio than their big screen counterparts: be it Rani-Govinda, Salman–Aishwarya, Vikram Bhatt-Sushmita, Vivek-Aishwarya, Karisma-Abhishek or Saif Ali Khan-Amrita Singh

Yash Sinha
Double trouble on the sets
Monday, June 05, 2006 | Television

Actor Yash Sinha suffers a severe nose punch and a nerve pull, both within 48 hours

Sapana Patil Poojary

Yash Sinha plays the role of cameraman Prabhakar in Sahara One's Kituu Sabb Jaantii Hai. His job often involves saving his journalist colleague Kituu's life during dire situations. But this time, it was Sinha who suffered mishaps and that too in real life.

On Friday, the cast and crew of the serial were on an outdoor shoot at Panchgani. They were filming a track in which school students are hijacked by terrorists and Kittu (played by Ami Trivedi) and her cameraman are on an assignment to cover the children's rescue.

"We were shooting this adventure sequence in which terrorists are being killed. In that particular scene, I had to grab a terrorist's gun and he was supposed to bring it near my face in a threatening manner. But in a fit of over enthusiasm, the actor playing the terrorist used such force that the gun hit my face with a thud," says Yash.

"My face was hurt, but my nose had taken a worse beating. There was a cut on it, and blood oozed out. The pain was searing. I could almost feel my nose falling off, but thankfully it wasn't that bad. I applied some antiseptic and continued shooting. If you watch closely, you will notice patches on my nose," he says.

Could Ajay be more accident-prone as he suffered another injury the very next day? "A chase sequence being shot in the rains and the ground had turned slippery. During the shot, I slipped. This pulled a nerve in my left thigh. The pain was excruciating and I realised what cricketers go through when they experience a hamstring. I was advised rest. But when we actors hear 'action', we simply roll. We can't set the schedule haywire with our injuries," says Yash.

The new age man is not hung up about his wife being more successful than him. In fact today's metrosexual male has no qualms about either marrying a woman more successful or socially well-connected than him. Take the case of debutant director Shirish Kunder, Bollywood choreographer cum director Farah Khan's hubby. From being a nobody he now gets to hang out with all the A-list stars thanks to his wife. Shirish even got to direct his first film Jaaneman after his marriage to her.

Another one who benefitted from his wedding is actor Fardeen Khan. He may be better known as a Bollywood star but Fardeen's social status skyrocketed after his marriage to the Madhwani heiress, Natasha. In yet another case, the Escort heir, Nikhil Nanda may come from an industrialist family but it is his wife Shweta who is better connected courtesy her superstar dad, Amitabh Bachchan. Actor Ajay Devgan too has benefited after his marriage to actress Kajol. They both get signed up as a package deal for popular ads and are acknowledged as a power couple.

In today's progressive society, many couples feel that marriage is all about vibing right. Says, socialite, Kaykasshan Patel, who is married to businessman Arif Patel, "My husband is proud of my achievements. He feels that my being in the limelight only enhances his image. His business success and my social popularity complement each other." Another successful woman echoes the same sentiment. Says TV actress Chavi Mittal, "In a relationship or marriage, who earns more or is more successful is of least concern, at least to me. Being an actor, I get more exposure in the media compared to my husband, Mohit Hussein who is a director. That does not mean our marriage would collapse. He is successful in his own line."

Experts say that mutual love is the most important thing and men want to marry the person with whom they vibe well with. In this scenario, a woman's higher social or economic status does not matter to them. Says, TV actress, Pooja Ghai Rawal, "People know me because I am an actress but name, fame, success and money are not permanent. I married Neeraj only because of love."

Companionship, support and communication are the new benchmarks for choosing a life partner. Jewellery designer Farah Ali Khan who is married to DJ Aqueel says, "Differences in social status would bother a couple only during a bad phase of their relationship. My husband is equaly well-known today." Experts opine that, marrying a well-placed woman provides a strong foothold for furthering a man's career. However, says, Dr. Gorav Gupta, Delhi based psychiatrist, "A man might find it advantageous to associate with a better-connected or more successful woman. If he marries her and stays in the marriage, it happens only if he genuinely loves her."

What to do coochie-coo
All work, very little celebration for stars this Valentine's Day

Tanushree Dutta: It was during my teenage years in Jamshedpur. I had asked my boyfriend to meet me in a park. I reached there and he wasn't around. When I called up he said he was busy. I got irritated and went to a friend's place. There, when I called up home I realised that he was just 15 minutes away from my house. He was there to surprise me. So in all the confusion three hours got wasted in getting back home and it was a lot of trouble. But then everything was actually sweet, if you think of it now.... I am shooting this Valentine. So there are no plans.

Anuj Sawhney: My film Chingaari is releasing on February 17, that is, two days after Valentine. So I will be busy with the promotion of the film. Might squeeze in something in the busy schedule. But in the past I have had loads of fun on this day. But I remember the one where we had a huge party in Delhi and I had proposed to my wife there.

Tulip Joshi: I do not know as yet. Probably will be going out for dinner. This actually will be the first big Valentine's celebration. This is the biggest Valentine's Day as now I have someone very special in my life. (By special, she means Captain Vinod, her boyfriend, and a Kimaya expert who had cured her of backache and with whom she has been inseparable ever since.)

Tejaswini Kolhapure: Nothing as of now. But I might be going out of Mumbai — Karjat probably.... Even the concept of giving cards and stuff (which used to be so special at one point of time) have completely gone away with the introduction of Internet e-cards. But there have been always dinners with friends and special people.

Kulraaj Randhawa: I love everybody... I plan to go out and catch up with friends.

Chhavi Mittal: (For Disha of Tumhari Disha, this Valentine's is special as it is the first one after marriage; she recently married television director Mohit Hussain.) This year I did not take an off. So after shooting I might go for a romantic dinner. Last year was my first Valentine's Day with Mohit. I had packed up late and when I had come back from work, the whole house was lit with candles. It was such a pleasant surprise. And when I entered the bedroom, I found a big bouquet of flowers and a gift. It was such a sweet thing that Mohit did. Then Mohit and I went out for dinner. We had such a nice time.

Mohit Hussain: Yes, last Valentine I gave this surprise to Chhavi on the 13th night with candles, flowers and a gift. And how her face lit up when she saw all that! I still remember that glow on her face. She still has kept that gift with care. I feel happy thinking about that moment. But if you talk of Valentine memories 10 years down the line I will be able to tell you many more such happy incidents. Chhavi will be working but I might go, surprise her on the sets and later go out and have wine and cakes.

Varun Badola: I am not into Valentine's Day at all. It doesn't really jell with my

Chavi quits Tumhari Disha

The show will take a 25-year leap sans its protagonist

Sapana Patil Poojary

Putting speculations to rest, Chavi Mittal has decided to quit her show Tumhari Disha.

Chavi, currently in London, says, "I feel it's too early for me to play an older woman. Perhaps five years later I will be ready to play it. But for now, I have taken the decision of leaving the show."

She continues, "I have parted on cordial terms with the production house. They understood my priorities and I am thankful for that."

Chavi has taken a bold step, considering she has no work in hand. She says, "I know I have taken a risk but I had no choice. I don't have any offers at the moment and can only hope that my decision is right. I intend to get back to work after a break."

However, the show will continue to run without the protagonist. Ashwini Yardi, Zee TV's programming head, says, "Disha's memories will be kept alive in DK's (her on-screen husband played by Ashish Nayyar) mind. Meanwhile, the story will move ahead by 25 years."

"Leap without me," says Disha

Zee's Tumhari Disha's proposed leap already has its lead threatening to quit! Chhavi Mittal is adamant about not aging if the show hits the fast forward button and has made up her mind to quit the show if the planned generation leap of 20 years is implemented.

Chhavi Mittal

"I am too young to play that old a character. This is my first show and I don't want to age now! Maybe five or six years down the line, I might give it a thought. I am feeling bad about it, but not that bad, since I believe that it's time that I move on. If they take a generation leap, I have no option but to quit," says Chhavi, who recently was in the news when she refused to get intimate with co-star Aashish Nayyer.

Although producer Rupali Guha of Filmfarm Productions says that plans regarding the leap are still underway and that it's too early to comment on it, our sources indicate that the search for Chhavi's replacement has already begun! Moreover, a little bird tells us that the lead will stop shooting from next month and is sticking to her resolve of quitting.

Meanwhile, Aashish seems positive about the probable leap! "I am not stuck up about aging. If the role is good and the character shapes up well, I don't have any problems, after all, it's acting!," sighs Aashish.

When contacted, Kruttika Desai, who plays Gargi in the show, refused to divulge any details. Sources say that the lady too is not too kicked about playing grandmother to a 25 year old.

All in all, this is one show whose off screen drama seems to have an uncanny resemblance to Zee's another show, Piya Ka Ghar where the makers had to resort to offer its lead, Narayani Shastri a double role to prevent her from walking out. Will Tumhari....take a simil

Abhi toh main jawan hoon: Krutika Desai
Krutika: Wot! Me, granny?

Along with Chhavi Mittal, Krutika Desai too has quit Tumhari Disha (Zee). Today, both Mittal and Desai will be seen for the last time in it.

The show has pushed the fast-forward button by 25 years and Krutika was averse to playing grandmother to a 25 year old. When the production company (Film Farm) and the channel (Zee) firmly decided that the leap was inevitable, Krutika made it clear to both that she would not continue.

Says Krutika, "I thought that Gargi's character was over and done. Gargi had lived her character. There was not much left in it. I didn't want to continue doing the same thing," Kruttika Desai, who is leaving for Israel on a holiday with her husband Imtiaz, talked about Chhavi's exit also.

Producer Rupali Guha revealed that the spotlight will now shift on Poonam Joshi (Mahek of Ekta Kapoor's Kahin To Hoga) who will enter the show as DK's (Ashish Nayyar) second wife.

Poonam Joshi gears up for Tumhari Disha

Like most of the shows on air pressing a fast forward button, Tumhari Disha is also all set to take a 20 year leap with Poonam Joshi playing DK's second wife (while Chavvi Mittal who played Disha will be shown dead in the show). The actor

plays a simple thirty five year old housewife who has problems in her family life.
"I play Kamna and will have three children in the show. The leap will show how Disha is dead but DK continues to remember her. It essentially will explore their relationship, problems in the family and their old age. I think they took me in the show because I fit the bill," smiles Poonam who will don a rich look in the show.
The production house has also roped in Sandeep Bhansali, Manish Raisingh and Tia to play Kamna and DK's children in the show.
"We are re-launching the show and the essence of the story will change from a love story to a social family drama. We chose Poonam, as we had a clear picture of whom we wanted to play Kamna in the show besides she is a fabulous actor and has been in the industry for a long time now," says Producer Rupali Guha.
For now, Poonam will be providing disha to Tumhari Disha and has her hands full with Kahiin To Hoga as well.

This is an article from Deccan.com site n it also says the same thing as other article but it shows the spirit of the new actress to be confident about her role of aging...👏👏That is called professionalism....and moreover i posted this because i want to show how my Rupu is cool lady........😛😆 Meri Rupu ko gaali math dena doston......😆😆

By Sneha Hazarika

Chhavi Mittal created a flutter of sorts by refusing to take a 25 year leap and quitting the show Tumhari Disha on Zee where she was playing the lead central character. But instead of being shaken up, the show has come up with an ace in the form of actress Poonam Joshi who has stepped in as the new heroine. But unlike any other leap, Poonam is not replacing Chhavi. She has come in as unconventional hero DK (Aashish Nayyar)'s second wife in the show.

"Yes, it's true that I am playing the role of DK's new wife in the show post the generation leap," Poonam confirms the news. "And as far as my decision of saying yes to this role is concerned, it's purely because the character of Kaamna is so interesting." Chhavi Mittal had walked out as she was reluctant to play a mum at her age. What about Poonam, who is now seen as a mother of three grown up children? Didn't she have any hang-ups or any sort of insecurity?

"I didn't and don't have a problem as the trend of 20-25 year leaps is on. It's not a new thing happening. And importantly, what I am concerned about most is, my role. I like my role and I am convinced about it. Therefore nothing else concerns me," Poonam sounds quite confident and sure of her decision. However, on the Chhavi Mittal topic, she refuses to comment. "I don't have any idea about why she left. I just started shooting a week back and don't know what happened before I came in," the smart actress keeps herself away from all sorts of possible controversies.

"As for the show, she is shown to be dead but her memories live on. In spite of the presence of three children and the new wife, her place in the life of DK is still there. It's shown how this presence of Disha effects the relations between DK and my character Kaamna," she explains her character. Talking about the intricacies of the character, Poonam futher elaborates, "This is one character which has a smile on her face always, no matter what happens. Her husband and children don't treat her well, but then too, she is forever in a positive frame of mind."

Poonam has earlier been seen in gamut of serials from the Balaji camp, Kahin To Hoga, Kahaani Ghar Ghar ki, Kavyanjali and Kya Haadsa Kya Haqeeqat. That makes Tumhari Disha her first major non-K show. Talking about her experience with her new co-actors, she says, "I have only shot for a few days up till now, but I get along really well with everyone. I am getting to know each one of them, from Aashish (Nayyar) to Sandeep and Manish who play my sons and the new girl who is seen as my daughter. It's been pretty good with everyone. Even the producer and the unit members are pretty cool to work with."

Draped in a traditional saree with loads of jewellery and a heavy mangalsutra, she is supposed to give a traditional touch to the serial which was otherwise missing with Disha being shown in trendy clothes all this while. What does Poonam think about it? Will the Chhavi's exit and her entry see soaps ratings soaring up!

"I can only hope that it gets better. After all, we can just do our best, rest everything depends on the story. Hope it helps the show to shine," comes the quick answer from her. And what does she think is the USP of the show? What is the one thing that will make it withstand all sorts of competition?

"It isn't just one thing or it's not just me. The best thing, as I said earlier, is the story. The different shades in the relationship between DK and Kaamna should stand out. It has come out very well so far. Plus there are many other positive points," she sounds hopeful. But coming back again to the age factor, has she realised that she will be categorised in mothers' and bhabhis' roles from now on?

"Not really, I don't think so. I am still seen playing my age in Kahin To Hoga. And at the end of the day, it's just another role. People, I guess realise the same too," she gives a confident reply. And last but not the least, what about her future plans? "As of now, it's just Tumhari Disha. I will hope for the best and see how it goes. Thereafter, I will take the next step," she signs off. Let's hope for the best and see Poonam fare really well, be as good or probably an able successor to Disha!
