There is talent galore on the small screen, and it's important that it gets noticed.

So a large number of actors, actresses, directors and producers gathered at a suburban fivestar the other night to applaud this new talent, at a show hosted by SaharaOne.

One seemed to have got transported to Planet Y, what with youngsters taking over all roles, right from anchoring to performances. A sizzling Barkha Bisht-Sengupta and the humorous Cyrus Sahukar were the emcees for the evening which saw house-rocking performances by Krystal D'Souza, Abigail, Jay Soni, Vikrant Massey and Parul and a romantic drama by Sara Khan, Vikas Manektala, Priyanka Bassi and Angad Hassija. Naveen Prabhakar had the audience rolling in the aisles with his stand-up comedy act while Mouni Roy and Sayantani Ghosh, in a far-cry from their on-screen dutiful bahu images, set the stage on fire with their dance moves (though one wonders what's with the striking golden ensemble on Mouni?)

But there was as much action off-stage, as there was on it. Arzoo Govitrikar made an appearance after a long disappearance from the scene and was welcomed with heaps of praise for her new look comprising a fringe, elfin shoes and a cutesy balloon dress. Aditya Narayan made a dapper entry and was overheard saying that youngsters are conquering every field, be it acting, singing or rocket science.

Krystal and Abigail formed a mutual admiration society as Abi went into raptures about Krystal's dancing skills and Krystal wowed Abi's outfit. The emotion transferred to Ragini Khanna (wearing a quirky patch on her dress that made it quite interesting) and Priti Amin where Priti praised Ragini for her "million dollar smile" and was complimented in return for her acting skills. Ditto between Raavee Gupta and Mansi Parekh — ex-colleagues who caught up with each other and made plans to hang out. Now, who said actresses can't be friends?

Couple-dom was the flavour of the evening as Raavee and Manojje Biddvai, Barkha and Indraneil Sengupta and Nazneen Patel with a mystery guy were seen together for most of the evening.

Anang Desai, Swati Chitnis, Krishna and JD Majithia stuck together as a family; Muskaan Mihani was seen flouncing around looking pretty in pink, and Sandiip Sikcand looked his relaxed best as he hung around chatting with friends about his upcoming film and plays and "lots more on hand." All in all, the evening was quite a dash of effervescence — just the kind needed for the usually gloomy evenings nowadays!
