Previously I had said that I sympathised more with Kanak than Uma, but currently I somewhat feel for Uma more than for Kanak although I do still feel for Kanak as well.
Uma has hurt Kanak and he is aware of that, and he carries that guilt around with him everwhere he goes and in whatever he does. He is trapped completely by his circumstances; he wants to be able to protect Kanak but also he needs to keep his sister and mother safe, for he is the one on whom they are all dependent. He is giving up his life for the happiness of others: he said in that episode once that he is trapped for life in Meeras cage but Kanak can still be happy and move on so he wishes her to do that, while all the time keeping such a heavy weight on his heart. He couldnt control himself forever, and he had to tell Kanak that he still loves her with all the same passion as before... but then he felt sorry for Meera, who had forcefully married him but he still doesnt want to wrong her. This is a pure gold personality and of course he gathers my sympathies.
Kanak is soon to be heartbroken again by Akshay, and already I feel bad for her as the heartbreak she suffered from Uma was huge... and to go through that again must be incredibly unbearable. However in this current track, I feel Kanak has been a little reckless in the way she has believed Akshays sweet words so soon... if anything, if she remembered how cheated she felt when Uma apparantly broke his promises, she shouldve been cautious when meeting any new guy... realistically anyone in her position would do that. I know that Kanak doesnt want to have an illicit relationship with Uma, yet I feel that it would not have been too hard for her to stay and listen to Uma for a few more minutes on wednesdays episode. She too loves Uma and cannot get over it and it is incredibly difficult for her to move on... I felt for her as she admitted this... still, I cannot support her decision of marrying Akshay, even after putting myself in her shoes.
Feel very much for fans too... we are yearning for KanUm reunion almost as much as them if not more. Good post.
