Part 15-
"Oi what are you on about you'd rather not have nightmares" shouted Uma running after Kanak
She rolled her eyes, stopping she turned around "you're so obsessed with me, stop chasing me"
Uma spluttered, not sure what to say
"Well I"
"Well you what" Kanak tipped her head to the side
"You, I" he groaned, throwing his head back making her chuckle
Uma put his hand up as his phone rang "just one second, ill deal with you after"
He wriggled his eyebrows as he spoke on the phone
"What do you mean you have a video" his eyes narrowed, darkening he muttered a "send it to me"
"Kanak, the investigator found a file on Aditya's work laptop of "
He paused, her face paling she stepped back, "I asked him to send it to me, so that I can show my aunt, if you want, then she will finally know you're being honest"
Kanak grimaced "I dont think she will want to see the proof"
"We have to try Kanak" Uma cupped her face
"If we wait until the time feels right, we will wait forever, we have to do this now, when its scary and you're unsure, because that's when you know its worth it, thats when you know the time is right, when it feels wrong"
---------------------------
Nanda looked up at Uma and Kanak, she held out her hand for the phone which Uma placed in her hand
Nanda watched as Kanak sipped on her tea, with a smile she pressed play on the video
Uma grabbed her wrist, "wait, what you see now, you can never unsee, are you sure"
Nanda was sure her son wasnt capable of abuse, yet the fear instilled within Neil's eyes made her doubt for a second her own beliefs. It was true once something was done it could not be undone, she watched Kanak finish her drink then pressed play again
She jumped back at Kanak's scream on the phone, she looked over at Uma who held her hand tightly when she flinched, his thumb tracing circles on her hand
Tears made its way down Nanda's face when Aditya raised his hand on Kanak again
Shutting the phone off she wiped her tears
"Kanak I'm"
Kanak wretched, standing up she wiped sweat from her forehead, then fell into Uma
"Kanak, Kanak"
Nanda shook her head "Im so sorry Uma"
---------------------------
5 hours later-
Uma stood up fast, the doctor walking in.
"Tell me she's okay" he begged, fearful to lose the beautiful woman who had only now got a new lease on life
"Shes okay, seemed she accidentaly ingested poison"
Uma glared at Nanda before turning back to the doctor "Can I see her"
The doctor nodded, pointing to the room he walked away
Uma ran in, watching Kanak smile softly at him
"Kanak, im so sorry, I didnt know, you have to believe that, yeah"
Uma's voice held sincerity, she held out her hand which he placed in hers
"I believe you"
He sighed in relief "Ill call the police straight away and"
Kanak shook her head
"I told them it was an accident, we dont need to make this worse, I understand why she hates me Uma, I killed her son, anyone would feel that way, shes a mother doing what a mother should, that doesnt make her bad"
Nanda knocked on the door, Kanak beckoned her forward
"I just wanted to apologise, as a woman first of all, for doubting you straight away, as a mother because you were like my child and I let you down"
Kanak shook her head "You didnt know and that's okay, please dont embarass me "
Nanda wiped her tears "As your mother in law, its my job to ensure you have another husband"
Kanak paled, Uma turned on his heel
Nanda smiled "And who better than Uma, if you'll have him that is, because its clear to me you already have his heart, he's never looked at anyone the way he does with you"
Kanak felt her stomach knot, surely a man like Uma would never want a woman like her, so wounded and scarred
Uma pointed his finger at her "I know what you're thinking and you can stop right there, ill be here, if you'll have me, I promise to never bring pickles anywhere near you"
Kanak laughed through her tears and opened her arms, he graciously hugged her, Nanda smiled and walked out of the room giving the two some privacy
They say opposites attract, and Uma and Kanak couldnt be more far apart, but thats all part of the journey, learning to love again is all part of the healing.
And when you have met the right person, no matter the obstacles or difficulties, your heart just knows.
So this is the end of this story, I usually finish my stories with a grand I love you, or a marriage etc, but then again it doesnt have to be an ending for it to be happy.
Relationships take time and they're still on their journey to love, so rather than rush and take them there, I will leave the rest to your imagination, thank you for reading, stay blessed you beautiful people! X
P.S- What is it they say about ends, that there's always a new beginning on the horizon, so I shall return shortly with something different, because it seems my imagination is still on a whirlwind
