She started to walk away, Uma held her hand and pulled her back, she fell on his feet. He held her shoulder and brought her to face him, Palomi couldn't look at him, the proximity made her blush, she placed her trembling hand on his arm, Uma took her saree Palu and was about to unpin it when a scream ripped through the air "Uma" breaking them apart, shocked looking at her...


"Ummaaa" Kanak screamed and jolted up straight. "What happened??" Uma asked Kanak as he fumbled to find light. He turned on the light and found her sweating forming on her head and tears rolling down her face. Uma held her shoulder and asked if she was alright. Kanak pushed his hands away, and started beating him with little punches and slaps to his chest and arms "what the hell did you think you were doing??, she questioned him. "What did I do? He countered back. "You are same as all men, liar and a cheat", Kanak said sobbing and putting her head in her hands. "Kanak what happened?" Uma was clueless what had happened... they were sleeping peacefully and then Kanak started turning and twisting and woke up with screaming his name, she must have had a nightmare. He pulled her closer and patted her head and shoulder, calming her down silently. Thoughts running through his mind, she called him a liar, a cheat, but all that took a backseat at the moment his only concern was Kanak.
Kanak had calmed down, she was in his arms, her world. He was with her, he was there present with her, he wouldn't cheat her. She held on to him, absorbing him into her. For days she had been restless, ever since she got to know Palomi had wanted Uma, she had dreamed of Uma and had been expected to be his wife... Kanak had full faith in Uma, that he never reciprocated Palomi with a second glance, but still the thought of Palomi after her husband gave her nightmares.

After a while Uma made her lie down and lay facing her on his side. She looked at him, she was lost somewhere but her eyes didn't leave him. "What's on your mind"? He asked quietly. "Nothing" Kanak replied and tried to smile weakly. "You know I know everything that runs through your mind, you can't hide forever" he replied back. Kanak sighed, she knew he would figure out one way or the other, he was indeed an 'antaryami'... "I had a nightmare" she said honestly. "Would you like to talk about it?" He asked. Tears welled up in her eyes and she broke eye contact with him, closing her eyes and he saw tears leaking out, it must be something important. He had to know what was bothering her. "Would you ever leave me" she whispered. Uma was shocked he placed his hand on her face, she looked at him, "look into my eyes Kanak, do you think it's ever possible? You are my heart, my soul. A person can live without the world, like a hermit under a tree but there also one needs a heart to live, but mine is with you. There is nothing that would ever make me choose you, you are not a choice, not an option. You are my life and I would live with it" he said it clear as the bright sun, which had already started to appear at the horizon. Kanak just rolled into his arms, she didn't need anything else. She had him and Uma was everything, she wouldn't let silly nightmares affect her and their relationship.
