Hey there all the lovely people!!
Me is back again. Direct to discussion.
It was an episode with, right amount of anger, emotion, reluctance, hesitation, aggression and discipline.
Massi is having a meltdown, as she tells everyone what Kanak has been upto all these days, she has been a cheat and fraud and is too egotistic.. Massi slams the modern education, education which makes the girl forget everything about relationships, family and sanskar... she accuses educated girls to bring ruin to the house -- Massi being old school can only see the disadvantages, because she believes in submission, holding the head down and listening but never speaking, she has no concept of a girl having a choice, just tie her to a post and she should be grateful, Massi doesn't believe in equality. But the way Massi was cursing education, made me remember all my coursework from school to university, never read anything like that, all I can remember is scientific experiments which were never conducted but was taught nonetheless, the algebra which was the ultimate villain in my life, but never used it in practical life -- or maybe my school was weird.
Vedansh takes Kanak to police station, Arpita meets them and she assures them that she would personally look over this case. Kanak is asked to give her statement.. Vansh and saras are shown in contrast to each other. Saras sides with her family and Vansh sides with sanity. I-- it's also a contrast between thought process or two girls, how they perceive life and how things happen. Vansh says that she was kept as a prisoner, she wasn't allowed to meet her family or come to Pushkar -- didn't Kanak herself refuse to acknowledge her family when they were right in front of her. She was asked time and again about her family but she never gave any information.
Arpita tell them about the equal chance they give both parties. She asks Kanak if this is how everything happened, Kanak nods in a yes. Did she ever cheat Uma and his family, had she ever hurt them, betrayed them, Kanak just moves her head in a negative response. -- Kanak today was just paralyzed, frozen she didn't want to lodge a complaint, she wanted to alter Vansh's perception of things. She wanted to say so much, she knows Uma is better than what they are assuming him to be, she is unable to explain anything, yet she sat there frozen on the turn of events. She knows Uma did a mistake, she calls it a mistake. Vedansh forced her to sign the statement, to teach Uma a lesson, they charge Uma of IPC 498a, 355 and 366. -- Kanak was a normal girl in dilemma, unsure of her actions and thought process. Lodging a complaint is a big step, Kanak didn't want to hurt Uma and his family... yes an action was required to make Uma realize the gravity of his mistake, but Kanak is frozen and unable to understand anything. The way Vedansh forced her, ain't that imposing themselves of their sister, they are looking for her better interest, but aren't they being all decisive by themselves. -- we can pick and critique as much as we can, but maybe situations like this do come up sometimes, maybe the whole idea of Vedansh forcing Kanak to sign and speak up and Kanak sitting paralyzed is what actually happens. The family takes charge and no time is taken to consult or counsel.
Let's break down the allegations as per the IPC against Uma.
Section 355 : Assault or criminal force with intent to dishonour person, otherwise than on grave provocation. - punishment 2 years with fine.
Section 366 : Kidnapping, abducting or inducing woman to compel her marriage, etc.Whoever kidnaps or abducts any woman with intent that she may be compelled, or knowing it to be likely that she will be compelled, to marry any person against her will - punishment a maximum 10 years prison .
Section 498A : Husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty.Whoever, being the husband or the relative of the husband of a woman, subjects such woman to cruelty - maximum 3 years of prison.
As per these IPC Uma looks forward to maximum of 15 years in prison.
Apologies for a super long post. Hope it's making sense.
