TSMSPJ*ep:39*17.5.17:My Impressions * breaking the mould!

The pattern and shape of one's life is set in a particular mould. Its life around, that gives it a specific model. Mostly one's family unit and environment contributes to the type of individual one turns out to be. However from the moment one is born, the pattern of one's life is subject to change, and one's original cast changes many shapes. Time forces one's form to blend into circumstances. The ones who move with the commands of time, make a difference to themselves and others around them.Ones that don't find their original mould cracks and goes to pieces. Today's episode is set on the theme of sculpting and modelling shapes. Though the task can be performed individually, it is shown as a paired activity to demonstrate , the harmony of mind and body at achieving the end result. The episode is an interesting insight into how characters crack each other's casts and attempt to super impose their own mould upon each other.

Uma shapes Kanak's mind and heart her virtue is safe in his hands. Two further days before purification ends before they can be declared man and wife. Till then, they share the same bed with an invisible wall of respect for individual chastity and discipline remains between them. To new age Kanak, the idea repulses and revolts, What's worse for Kanak is ,the bigoted male, continues to give her faith oriented instructions as if she were a child. As clean as a whistle!! Kanak feels no love for him!! The whistle blowing scene! is set up to mould Kanak gently into the rules and norms of the household! It's amusing, how Uma and Kanak in the one bed, hear the other whistle , turning sides over, both assume each makes a pass at the other! Its, some strange provocative, promiscuous modelled behaviour!!Dangled as a temptation between the two! To test the boundaries of their discipline!! By none other than Maasi! However it shapes up as having a go at each other! where they end up looking for opportunities to converse with each .Yes , mostly dissension in nature to Kanak ,for she notices even in his humour Uma shows gender bias of what girls should be seen to do and don't!. Kanak sees more, how he wants to break her mould and set his own upon her! he , gibes, it's not expected, his wife, to whistle at him! give suggestive messages to a husband! Kanak is hell bent more! she will challenge his stereotypical nonsense! Then the discovery !it's all a cheap joke!! works of some rubber duckies! The jester who modelled this trap under the mattress is none other than Maasi! who literally tells Kanak the squeak was like a signal to keep Kanak's promiscuity in line. Uma she knows follow rules and regulations But he too may forget his limit when a modern city slicker crosses his path. So really this humorous skit ,aims to belittle Kanak. In fact Maasi has no qualms of putting woman hood down!! And all this Maasi does so, is to cast Kanak in the mould of Uma Shankar! As for Kanak , her mind is cast in one iron mould! To retrieve her shop from this man Uma Shankar who seems to mould her families lives at the moment.

Vansh tries to mould Ved's mind into going with the flow. Even with the papers of the shop missing, a potential buyer turns up. Only goes to say that this is god's will, thus they need to act fast before the sale of their shop loses a buyer. Here too, its seen that power is used to break the mould of reluctance by the strong weapon of faith.

In the lush green foliage , of the terraced hills and winding hilly roads. Kanak keeps her Bhabo's temple concealed in her heart. In her mind meeting Arvind makes her anxious. Upon her keenness to visit the temple, Uma totally misunderstands her zeal to succumb to him as his wife. But no surprise by now for Kanak , as she reckons she knows him a teeny wee bit more now.. this time, another task that involves clay modelling. Making earthen divas for the temple. Little do they realize the purpose of this task set high up on top of the world. Like Kailesh where Lord Shiva went to meditate and seek enlightenment of the soul. A potter's wheel.. a crucial tool of the activity, and clay a pliable soil, and water for controlling and mixing the right consistency between two agents water and clay. A pair of limbs, guided by the intuitive eye of the imagination to give a form to a lump of soil! But for Uma, it's a moment to indulge in all the things he loves doing. To take everything like a challenge! In this test of modelling a large amount of divas. Next, Uma loves to cast his pearls of wisdom upon listeners, with the view to mould their heart and mind. In this case its Kanak.. Kanak a sight pleasing to his senses. Kanak who fills him with rhythm , cadence. She who strums music into his being. She who makes love overflow from him in abundance. As he stares across at her over the wheel, he muses today on this mound he must get both quality and quantise time with her. Uma is one also, to put himself in the role of a teacher ,and looks upon her as his fond prized pupil. For them to spend a harmonious life time he must model her into his own likeness...

Thus before the wheel begins to roll , he gets the water.. and thus the with the clump of clay on the central base of the wheel , Uma instructs and Kanak follows, excited, fascinated by the feel of the smooth sticky soil spinning under her cupped palms.. the wheel spun and slowly with its rhythm rolled out Uma's inner thought's his mind set about gender in particular .Kanak knew his old school thinking but gradually his gender bias felt she was not doing a shared creative activity in present day with a learned man ,but rather in the dark ages with a cave man! He is not taken in by the idea of giving women the same opportunities as men! His views on working women are stunted and unreal. As he feels women are fragile creatures that need to be kept home and pampered. Any man who allows his wife to leave home is not man enough! as its the man's role to earn money and provide for the needs of the family. For him the woman's role is to bear, rear and manage the family.

The potter's wheel rolls and Kanak stares at him and muses.. this man belongs to the primitive age! Where the man was deemed as the hunter with a club on his shoulder! Who went hunting for food. While his wife stayed at home, provided care and nurturing! Kanak is deeply hurt when he feels that working mothers children suffer from behavioural disorders! Kanak nearly blurts out her background her mother worked too! But she and her brothers have turned out well! Suddenly the potters wheel stops spinning. Kanak attempts to break the set mould of his mind! She fights the case for women realizing their dreams with support of their husband! just like her father did for his mother! Suraj fighting for the Sandhya's chances for advancement. Regretfully for now Uma appears to her as a man, who is unwillingly to offer a chance to equality to women. Yet Uma despite his views of unfairness and discrimination against women , does touch upon the harmonious interdependence of a married couple upon each other. it's the moment when his palms covers her and they both together bite the base of the clay model off the spinning wheel as a finished product. He does somehow despite the set role theory of the working exemplar husband and the wife as home manger appeals to her that for a marriage to work ,they have to be yoked together. But he makes her mind revolve like the pottery wheel enough!! to send her into hissy fit! With his bid to cast her in his mould, by saying in every hard task a woman needs a man to help her complete! Well Kanak accepts the gauntlet, she'll finish off the remainder diva's and bring them to the temple herself!.. Uma hangs his head ,leaves her too it. Descends down the terraced mountain..both said what they had to say to each other.. now what's left is to mould each other in the cast of marriage in such a manner that the conservative and the liberal work towards sculpting each other in a likeness that is midway radical..?

Vansh and Ved are almost ready to strike a deal with the buyer.. the man is doubly keen , covers up for meenaskshi by stating he needn't see the business premises as its a profitable deal. He is keen to know why they want to dispose off the shop. Both grandsons think of Bhabo and her dangerous obsession.. Ved replies its personal.

It was a bold episode, with a touch of conservative, liberal and fundamental views. Encompassed in Uma's words were traditional, and handed down the generations ideals. His views are stereotypical and discriminatory . His back ground of how he was raised up himself should be taken into account. He was not the son of a working mother whereas Kanak was the daughter of parents who were employed. I can see both Uma and Kanak are a good match for each other ,as both will set right many issues in each other. precap seems exciting , has she completed the challenge? Will he be pleased by her slogan and I did it all by myself mister!! Hamlet53 18.5.217

Another fabulous musing from u.so today u celebrated the MOULD.

I can understand ppl can now easily hate uma.but uma is not just a character. Uma is the name of thought, about gender bias. Those who don't believe holding the cradle and rocking the world can happen with the help of the same hands.mould , a female is actually like a mould.can take the shape it wants to. So easily. Like the men want.leaving their parents house the come to a new home and let their life take a new shape.and the shape keeps changing.the best thing about mould is it is never broken.u can change the shape as much as u want but u can never break it. Womanhood is the name of such undying spirit.never gives up. Women who knows only to give, who gives birth.the thought named uma is something worse than those of primitive men. Cz they didn't have the light.uma has the light and still he isn't ready to accept.which is a sad thing.

Have read a fantastic character on tagore's work.named chitrangada.the way her character influenced Arjun is really amazing.looking for those verses.google karti hu wait.

Amazing and thought provoking hammie.episode was so so with unbelievably cheap act by masi.

Keep writing for us.

yes...I think many of us disagree with his thinking.. he is rather a sad person in his house surrounded by women.. only male figures he interacts with are of extreme age groups.. shiv on one end and gabba! on the other!

I am Chitrangada, the princess
No deity, nor an ordinary woman
Not a goddess of worship
Not a commoner to be cast behind
But if you accept my rightful place
In peril and in plenty
In trusting companionship
Through the penance of suffering
By your side
You may then realize I for who I am
But for now
Merely I impart
I am Chitrangada, the princess

Wonderful post Hammie 👏
And the episode was fantastic ( of whatever I watched)

The concept of mould is my favorite!!!

Few of my pointers...

1. I recall a line from SP Mahabharat once again. "Shape the character of your child. Not his/her future". A simple idea that conveys do not worry about the security of the future of your child if you have shaped his/her character well. Somewhere Uma's dialogues resonate this. Again a clear Black and White mentality!!! In a nutshell it meant, okay fine the woman works out. For what? Money? So securing the future of your child? Then children are neglected and inherit bad character.. Tadaaa!!!! Verdict declared...

2. Kanak's patience is definitely wearing off. I loved that mini eruption. It was good that she made it left right centre of this man. The point where she bursts, mud splashes on Uma's face. The jerk was needed. The mud was as if making him stop for a while and reflect on his own thoughts. Will this happen? Will Kanak jerk off this hard to make him reflect on his actions???

3. Is it only me or anyone else? Or am I just reading too much in between the lines? 😆. The way US said of how a family gets disturbed when the woman works outside. Has he any personal experience of the same? My gut says yes 😆. Cz there are so many things am confused about. Beginning with Uma's mother. She seems to be a progressive lady (I don't know why but she appears to be one). There's no mention of Uma's paternal family like Grandparents, uncle aunts. Shiv is too young, isn't it??? 😕 What if a repetition of a case like Pavan's? These chota packets seem to be a big dhamakas in upcoming story! Plus Maasi sa. One becomes a hypocrite, opinionated and way too stubborn if had to face smthn undesirable in repetition.

4. Have missed Ved Vansh scene as saw in fast forward. But everything paving a way for a big volcano: greed, love, opinions, decisions, lies, deceit!!!! 65th birthday haazir ho!!!! My gut says it will be 6 days from their vidhi started. So if Kanak escapes will these two come face to face for the impending revelation?

5. I wish Arvind helps Kanak in some way. The new promo is scary though . The promo and Suraj's comeback make me more doubtful about so many things...

6. The whistle scene was funny. Uma needs to loosen up a bit. Preaches too much!!!! I kinda love Kanak's self talking when he's in preach mode... Accha hai dono ne apni apni laga rakhi hai 😆

7. Maasi putting down a woman... Has she enjoyed the same fate all her life??
