Don't know his full name. Seems like he is the judge for many auditions for Zee SRGMP.

Anyway, I did not think he was completely unfair in his judgement. He said that they are looking for good voice quality, versatility, emotion/modulation, good voice range and confidence! The sense I got was that if you are an average singer with above qualities then you have better chances. Finally, who knows what really goes on... They selected 26 from NY auditions and only 1 from Chicago...

my only problem is this
how can he judge all the above qualities(specially versatility) by listening 4 lines. Listening 4 lines from a pathetic singer is enough, but not from a good singer or even average singer. I wish my friend had sung a frivolous song with lots of energy and attitude than a classical song..but even then i don't know...

Its the first impression when you start singing is what counts I guess for the first round. Even for the first round he made many sing another song of his choice. In 2nd round he had some people sing only the antaras.. so 4 lines may be enough to get an idea. They may miss out on selecting great singers, but why would they care...they audition 1000s of people and only 16 will finally end up in the show 😊 So one also has to be lucky to be selected!

I was not disappointed with the way the auditions went.

where did u go for audition? I disagree, i saw few people having good starts as i mentioned but i don't know, maybe he didn't like the choice of songs..but then how do you know what one likes/dislikes. Some very average people went to second round in NY audition. I have been to several auditions with much more people there, i never got this "unfair" impression, but in NY auditions I did get it. In NY audtion atleast there were not thousands of people.

I agree. I was happy with the auditions. Of course would have loved if I got selected, but only 1 was selected in CHI. That guy is a good singer. So its not that they did not select good ones. In fact I feel I was give ample opportunity to prove myself.

StarBright - Then I sure have seen and heard you sing as I was there listening to everyone in round 2 😛
There were 2 girls that I definately liked more than the guy that they selected 😕 But then thats just my opinion ..... You can try again next year!

I went to Chicago. By 1000s I mean overall participants from all 4 cities....This was the first audition for me so have no idea how other auditions are.
