Jodhaa Akbar

Ashutosh Gowariker's Jodhaa Akbar is the untold love story of the greatest Mughal emperor who ruled Hindustan (now India), Jalaluddin Mohammad Akbar, and a fiery young Rajput princess, Jodhaa.

Set in the sixteenth century, this epic romance begins as a marriage of alliance between two cultures and religions, for political gain, with the Hindu King Bharmal of Amer giving his daughter's hand to a Muslim Emperor, Akbar. When Akbar accepts the marriage proposal, little does he know that in his efforts to strengthen his relations with the Rajput, he would in turn be embarking on a new journey the journey of true love?

From the battlefield where the young Jalaluddin was crowned, through the conquests that won him the title of Akbar the Great ('Akbar' in Arabic means great), to winning the love of the beautiful Jodhaa, Jodhaa Akbar traces the impressive graph of the emperor and his romance with a defiant princess.

With Hrithik Roshan as Akbar and Aishwarya Rai as Jodhaa, this grand spectacle is produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Ashutosh Gowariker.

Hrithik Roshan impresses Cannes audiences with Jodhaa Akbar promos
Posted on Monday, May 28, 2007 (EST)

28 May 2007 (Sawf News) - Hirthik makes more money for Bollywood with a single film like Dhoom 2 or Krrish than other Bollywood heroes do with ten films.

Hrithik is younger than most top heroes of Bollywood and has a longer and varied career ahead.

News from Cannes says that the promos of Ashutosh Govarikar's Jodhaa Akbar, showing him fighting with an elephant in this historical magnum opus, fascinated audiences and film festival participants so much, that buyers from Germany, France, South Africa etc. have shown great interest in the film.

Bombay Times reports that reps from Venice and Rome are eager to include the film in their festivals.

Most insiders agree that Hrithik is the fittest hunk in Bollywood and is pointed in the right direction with healthy habits and right values. He underplays his star status and concentrates on his assignments with such vigor that his performances are outstanding in every genre.

From zooming around on bikes and jumping down precipices with his heroines, he has done it all – but he is open to new feats of action and new frontiers of acting in every new venture he accepts!

The poster is very similar to dhoom 2. Ash wearing too much jewelery and hrithik moustache just doesn't suits him.
