Even when Sachin is in a slump he is in the top 25 batsman in the world in average, top 20 in average, top 10 in runs scored

Sachin is bad when you compare him the old Sachin which is a ridiculously high standard, he is good enough to get into any cricket team in the regularly playing teams

People want to look at the times he fails and then complain, they want to compare him to the old Sachin(even then the talk was he only does this for numbers, comeon whatever happened to this being a Team Sport)

He certainly deserves a spot on a team, that is so short on talent, it cant even manage to get to Super 8πŸ˜‰

He is in a way partly  responsible for this... They should have a disclaimer with those stats.. like hte mutual funds... past perfomance is no guarantee for future scoringπŸ˜†...dont trust them....

And one day cricket all that matters is wins... if we have a player consistently scoring still the team loses.. I think it doesnt help much.. If tendulkar can beat the crap out of bermuda and kenyaa and what scotland soall those poor newbies  but mcgrath can always get his out first few overs..so can Shoaib. all that scoring doesnt matter....

I dont mind if BCCI dismantles the whole team but tendullkar should change his profession retiring with glory... people have had too much of him now...new talent should be given the opportunity... this past glory crap is costing us a lot....All that should matter is clutch time perfomance...

The rule for selection should be you don't play then you don't stay.

Nice to hear that. I don't think he is been given special treatment orelse he would have continued to captain the side. On other hand selection committee should change the criterias to identify the person who is going to take timeout. I mean to say with poor performances in few one dayers Sachin still manages to shy out of list of probable kick outs. Not sure if you got what I mean.

Let me explain

there are 8 regularly playing nations, suppose there are 4 specialised batsman on each team, 32 batsman, even in that Sachin is the 4th Indian in the top 25πŸ˜†, in average, runs scored and strike rate he even goes up, you are talking about dropping a batsman, who when out of form is top 25πŸ˜‰, when in-form he is the best(although that hasnt been the case for the last 2-3 years)

Statistics have to be drilled down to the detail

talking about clutch, do we mean, matches that India winsπŸ˜†? I think India has a different hero everytime it wins

Todays match.. With his experience we expected him to get more than scoring against some lame teams..... all the time... more importantly Sachin at no point can give you that confidence level... He is like a chancy player...now he has the best world record... so this is a big let down - more than uthappa or sehwag getting consistently out on zeros's

And historical doesnt mean records from times of aurangzeb three month old record become historical if you are bringing in to drive a point... If Shoaib makes some trash statements of getting tendulkar out.. he gets scared... and that reminds of his 2003 shoaib massacre... but all this is not coming with a lot od confidence... its either flipping a coin, crossing fingers or just hoping...πŸ˜†... Sourav atleast shows he can score.. he brings in that confidence... So does dravid... Sachin is being considered too many times based on past glories sometimes even irrelevant and i thnk whenever tendy has played India has lost many of those matches... so its only good for his record and the fancy stats of his fans...😊 Check how much he has scored agianst australia and pakistan.. and south africa and srilanka... but he consistently scores agianst bangladesh.. and some other down market teams... Dravid and sehwag tried to rise to hte ocasion but tendy wanst to keep his average modest!!!😊

in the team the player i like only is Sachin.

How long we Indains ,a cricket crazy nation tolerate such players.

I m not a crazy cricket fan at all.I left my craziness for cricket long time back so I m relaxed now.If u ppl wanna peace of mind then dont be crazy for cricket bcz these players care for only themselves, modeling money etc etc. country and uski janta ka kya hai haar gaye koi baat nahi , do din ro peet ke chup ho jaayenge, welcome to fir bhi Dhoom se hoga,

they know even if they loose shamelessly like to BD , ppl will always love them, welcome them with Foolon ke haar, band baaja. waise bhi accha hai na jaldi WC se bahar honge to Ghoomne ko zayyada time milega, fresh ho jaayenge modeling ke liye.

hello raj, i thought i would sit quite as i felt the arguments were good enough but sadly I would contradict you here 'cos Sachin did not want captaincy himself ,he shirked it as he under performed when he was captain...regarding him being in the team..i do not want to say this as it's dirty politics coming into play.....the selector, the head, the big wigs are Maharashtrians .....they'll never remove him ,it's he who should bow out.hope you get the idea what I mean.....

Why do you think he should retire :
1. Lost his Zeal?  No, but he cannot give his best shot most of the times anymore 😭
2. Forgot his game?  No, but is becoming mediocre by the passing day πŸ˜

3. At 34 years of Age he is toooo old?  Yes and also becasue he suffered injuries that did not allow him to age efficiently as a player 😭

4. Not serious?  He will be serious about cricket till the day he dies 😭, I'll not question that.

5. other pls specify.  -- I like it when the best of the best retire at the PEAK rather than after losing their FANS and being disgraced more often rather than being remembered as the best  there could be πŸ˜ƒ  .   (Other 2 examples- Lata Mangeshkar, Jerry Rice)

QT, I have the same opinion. One should quit while ahead. When I get PMs for signing petitions when a show is about to be scrapped I say the same thing. End it before audience starts hating the storyline. Look at the treatment meted to players like Ravi Shastri and Kapil Dev. Sachin should be intelligent enough to take cues. But do it after a good performance. The WC performances were🀒. 34 is old in Cricket years. I doubt if he will make it to next WC.

I like your Lata Mangeshkar example. Have you heard of Yesudas? He is Kerala's renowned singer and Indian's too. But the same Keralites who once bestowed him to gana gandharvan (King of music) status is now snubbing him and now a fresh lot has taken his place. He made a comment on Lata's shrill voice in 1942-Love story but he himself continued to sing in Malayalam even when he lost control of his voice.
