Her real name is KarisHma (means Miracle in Hindi/Urdu)

and NOT Karisma/charisma (means charm in English).

She used charisma/Karisma few times in her career to sound cool or different , just like famous Pakistani actress Mawra uses Hocane instead of Hussain for her last name.

The REAL CONFUSION for me is WHY Kajal who is always been addressed rightfully as KAJAL (hindi name) by Ajay in his interviews, by her sister Tanisha and mom Tanuja in biggboss and in all of their interviews, by Kjo and all of her colleagues always addressed KAJAL as KAJAL only, always...then WHY the film titles, audience and media always writes the Bengali version of her name KAJOL and not the Hindi version of her name KAJAL just like her family and ferternity ?

Any answer for this?

Her real name is KAJOL but she doesn’t correct people when they call her KAJAL

Maybe her no Bengali relatives prefer to call her Kajal

But how does her Bengali cousin RM calls her?

I think if you have what it takes, audiences will learn your name. People used to tell John Abraham to change his name but he didn’t and everyone got used to saying his name.

That is true. Arnold Schwarzenegger is a prime example

Her birth name is Karisma and is indeed pronounced as 'charisma'. But who in India, especially in the 80s and 90s, is going to call her as KariSma when the name Karishma exists, is most familiar, and is easier to pronounce by quite literally all Indian folk?? smiley44It's an odd choice that she went back to using Karisma in the 2010s...probably some astrological reason or she just wants to use her given name just cause. But everyone including her family will always call her Karishma.

So her parents named her charisma but call her Karishma?

Just like Kajol I guess, her mother calls her Kajal after naming her Kajol

It turned out to be lucky for her

EDIT: Are you Kajol OR Kajal?

Thanks for sharing.

But she is her usual funny self in this interview when answering Amir it is not Kaajal but Kajol, as there is NO SUCH NAME like kajOl in Hindi, it is only kaajAl.... kajOl is just the Bangla pronunciation of the Hindi name kaajAl.

Even if the luck factor taken into consideration as you have mentioned, why even her debut film Bekhudi spelled her name as kajOl to begin with ?

Why her entire family and all of the ferternity always calls her kAAjAl and not kajOl ?

Don't they know her real name ?

Ofcourse they do.

So the question remains the same here that why media and film credits calls her kajOl in Bangla pronunciation and not in her Hindi name kAAjAL like her family do and all of the ferternity as well, and also when she is working in Hindi film industry and not in Bangla industry?  (Also she is not even full Bengali, just from Father's side, her mom is a Maharashtrian).

What's in the name?

There are more than five actresses with the name Kajal but there is only one Kajol.

So why not using the Bengali pronounciation to not being Kajal Mukherjee but simply Kajol.

The need is only in the writing, not in the pronounciation...and Kajol herself reacts to both pronounciations but wants Kajol as her actress name.

Simple as that.
