No he didn’t. I have watched animal, and there’s nothing in the movie that could redeem it, not even his performance. At one point it looked disgusting and not wild, there have been classic examples of actors playing unhinged and borderline psychopaths and they make you believe in those characters not leaving any loophole to question their madness, here every single scene either you’re triggered that why is he behaving like this or you ask why is he Papa’s beta?

His dialogue delivery is awful and he looked bad, the wig and everything, nothing made sense. Such characters either need an extremely good looking actor or an actor with immense swag, Ranbir had none. It’s good he won, but let’s not say there’s nobody else deserving this year, both SRK and Ranveer has equally good performances and if popularity is measured SRK for Jawan was the clear choice.

Nope. Vikrant (even popular award since the movie was a commercial hit) or Vicky who was pitch perfect in sam bahadur.

Nope, animal was his weakest film and performance but because it's Ranbir it will be hailed as something extraordinary smiley37

Let's just take the very beginning of the scene when he is reasoning with his father. And tell me how is his tonal quality, dialogue delivery and expression different from when he is reasoning with Shraddha here? They are the same in every movie, every character.

kapde alag, naam alag, kirdaar alag but acting same to same. No variation at all.

I saw everything in this scene monotone, no change in expression or delivery or tone. I seen this movie with shraddha. I have not seen animal so no comments there.

He deserved all of it and more

His performance was appreciated by critics and masses alike…a very rare thing to achieve in today’s day and age where most good performances have favour in only either critics or masses …not both and that too with such an impact

How is it rare when Vikrant and Vicky got MORE APPRECIATION than him in both sides?

nothing rare about ranbir delivering a hit with a director who delivered a huge hit in his first film. vikrant delivery a hit with a non commercial, non controversial topic is rare. Glad vikrant won an award, he is the only deserving person so far that won.

Err I don’t remember either of those films doing 500 crore plus, having insane footfalls running in centres and single screens from Punjab to bihar to Andhra Pradesh, and having reel after reel of snippets from their performance on instagram
how is 12th fail and Sam bahadur MORE APPRECIATION from the masses when these are the parameters to gauge mass appreciation? (Box office success and pop culture impact)

Ranbir is in the film start to finish and it centres around him …the film in no way would work to this extent without his performance …

Kuch bhi…

In this day and age it is rare to give a box office blockbuster, and a performance that is high on impact across the country in all sectors and markets (incl critics, smaller cities and their box office circuits , industry folk  , social media, major metropolitan cities , multiplexes and single screens)

Sam bahadur and 12th fail may have had rave reviews and be liked the ppl who saw them…and have gotten appreciation from the industry aswell ….they are in no way close to the exposure and acceptance ranbirs performance got in Animal…(nope this ain’t an opinion, the numbers speak for themselves…being liked by the masses ain’t an opinion…it’s just cold hard numbers)
