Filmfare gave that year also gave special awards to Ameesha for Gadar and Raveena for Aks

Karishma was great in Zubeida, in a big step away from commercial stuff, but it was pretty wild that Tabu did not win anything. I remember Chandni Bar being massively acclaimed. 

Tabu did win the National Award though, so really...she won the most in the end.

Worst snub was PC not winning for Barfi.

I agree with you, but she lost to Vidya for Kahaani and was also nominated against Sridevi in English Vinglish. It was a very VERY close year, almost impossible to choose a clear winner.

Popular awards are given to popular nominees like Aamir won for Dangal over SRK for FAN. FAN was way ahead of Dangal in terms of performance but it wasn't as popular as Dangal
