Thank god SRK didn’t do Munnabhai, he doesn’t have the physicality nor the alpha manliness Sanju has to pull it off

I know before they started shooting for Dunki, there was rumors of allegations of metoo with hirani the director, I wondered if that effected the movie.

Haven't watched dunki yet.

But 12th fail is such a well made and inspiring movie. Loved every bit of it. Vikrant Massey never disappoints.

Oh gosh!, I just found a combining element of both the movies...it's (not only) in the title

(please take it with a smiley2... dunking can also be something successful...in sport...)

I don't know about "their target" but this is interesting, nevertheless...

12th Fail: "This film was initially supposed to be directed by Rajkumar Hirani, but while writing it with new writers VVC became so attached to the characters that he leaned towards directing it himself. He was doubtful about directing it even after that because it was unlike any film he had ever made, but once he saw Vikrant Massey's test, he was determined to direct it himself." (Imdb)

and

Dunki: "This film was also titled "Toss" five years ago since the production starts around 2017. " (Imdb)

Finally watched 12th fail..outstanding movie..both VVC and Massey in full form..beautiful beautiful film..also was cool to see them taking Vikas Divyakriti in the movie..amazing touch..smiley1that man has some kind of insane following and a very well respected teacher..I absolutely agree that Dunki should have been at this level (in terms of connect and beauty of storyline) but it somewhere missed the mark..still not a bad movie IMO..just couldn’t be what it could have been

You might find Vikrant Massey's interview about his audition with VVC interesting. The latter invited Massey over and handed him the book to read. VVC had doubts initially that Massey was too old to play a 19 year old. When he mentioned this Massey crouched down and just slipped into the character that VVC was immediately convinced. VVC also mentioned that it was his wife, the critic Anupama who mentioned Vikrant Massey's name after being impressed by his performance in Death In The Gunj.

It's actually funny that VVC scoffed Mirzapur violent and vulger (one of the most popular OTT shows and how Vikrant became a popular face). VVC is known to have directed Parinda a very violent but wellmade gangster movie. But then the emotional content of Parinda is more mature.

P.S I would rate 12th fail as a commercial movie. It's not as arty like his Death in the Gunj.

This is in Hindi which I won't understand, but I watched the interview Vikram did with Baradwaj Rangan.

I noticed very interesting similarities with SRK btw...
