12th Fail has a better script overall and it is inspiring. It ends on a high note

Dunki has SRK and great songs. Subject is unique too. It is more commercial

I pick 12th Fail

12th Fail is vastly superior. This is an insult to the film and especially Vikrant Massey. Dunki could've been something special with a better lead actor who bothered even a little bit to work on his diction. As someone whose family hails from that region, I cringed everytime SRK tried speaking Punjabi. It was Repulsive tbh & ruined the whole experience. So much so that I couldn't even bothered with the "Elephant in the room".....that Zombie looking De-aged face of his.

I'm sure Hirani too has learnt his lesson to stick to Aamir or Ranbir in the future.

Btw, SRK wouldn't have worked with Hirani under VV Chopra production house after the Paheli allegations...and rightly so.

When Hirani got ousted (rightly or wrongly, we won't know as the assistant only talked to Anupama and the rest happened from there on), he approached SRK as he always wanted to do a movie with him.

SRK has always worked with shady people. May be that’s why Hirani approached him after VVC kicked him out after me too.

And how do you know how "shady" VVChopra could be?

Well, 12th Fail is baised on the autobiographical book by Anurag Pathak which was very much lauded already 2 years ago (just go to amazon where one can read the praising). So, what did VV Chopra do? He made this gem of an inspirational book into a movie script which made him the 'writer' of the film...

He took one of the most reputed not-mainstream actors (and boy, he is good) and released the movie 5 weeks before Dunki got released having people going to great heights to hail the movie and even getting the Oscar nomination - all before Dunki released. Anyone here who doesn't think that a certain narrative had been created with not much efforts as it was almost impossible to deliver a bad movie out of the book.

Oh yes, VV Chopra got his revenge because he lost out to the Oscar nomination in 2005 with (a really good) Parineeta against a (imo equally good) Paheli. (That doesn't mean that I have something against 12th Fail getting sent. Please note that!)

Well, then Dunki released...and - bingo! - it rained negativity with negative allegations thrown around (among others the - unproved - me too incident, like it is done here). Please note, that I don't go against critical reviews of members here who seem to have watched the movie!!!

But it is - of course - a 'given' by some that Rajkummar is shady and ShahRukh is shady (just to come across as 'critical'???!!!) - blah-blah-blah smiley36

So many differences, the only common thing being the importance of the subject.

It would be - in no way - a fair comparison.

I don’t think we use words like this anymore

When Hirani approached SRK for Munnabhai just before his back operation, Hirani would have to wait at least one year as there had been still KHNH and Main Hoon Na to finish.

Hirani didn't want to and got VV Chopra as producer (he has a knack for debuting filmmakers) which made him grateful towards Chopra.

Then the Paheli selection happened and Chopra was quick to accuse SRK of foul play (it is a RCE production).

At that time, I really thought that he would never do an interview again with Anupama...but he did (only to get accused at OSO-times by her for the OSO promotion)...and that after he supported her when she wrote a book about the Hindi Cinema and his role in the industry (with giving her talking time).

Nevertheless, when Hirani approached him for 3 Idiots, SRK told him that he would do the movie when he can produce it. But at that time, Hirani didn't want to leave VV Chopra saying he would own him... SRK let him know that he would work with him at another time then (when Hirani is ready to get produced by RCE).
