Clickbait headline.

This was her actual quote if you read the entire article:

Aishwarya added, “What’s incredible is that even though that is a family that is so much in the public eye, Abhishek and Shweta have been brought up in what to me is a very normal manner. Probably that’s the root of our connection, that we connected as people. We were friends for a very long time before we fell in love… Yes, we are actors; we love what we do, we are passionate about what we do. There are no two ways about that. At the same time, we are very real people. Marriage means a lot to us, we respect the institution. That’s the normal life that we lead, even though it’s so much in the public eye.”

Abhishek is literally the nicest guy out there..he gave Aish loads of credit for how she is so zen and helps him look at a neutral and positive perspective..perhaps this is the first time he has spoken in so much detail about his relationship with Aish..and yet some how people managed to twist his words into something patriachal😆 and as for learning about contributions about women..Aish carries Aradhya around with her every time she goes for any event..obviously Aru knows what a huge star and celebrity Aish is..we have taken the morcha of feminism too far..to even now actively negate or neglect that men bring something to the table too😆

Hmmm. Not a mention of grandmother, mother and sister in the upbringing.

With re: last name. Amitabh and his daddy are the famous names in that family. Who else is Abhishek going to try and match up to?

Exactly this. Don’t think he is being patriarchal here, per se. He’s always been acutely aware that but for his last name, he wouldn’t have gotten all the many many opportunities he has. It shows awareness, not patriarchy, lol.

When was Shweta involved in Aradhya's upbringing? Aishwarya has been talked about over and over by Abhishek. No, he did not mention Jaya.

He is talking about the Bachchan side of his family and how he feels the pressure to keep up. Can't people talk about their fathers without mentioning their mothers? This is so weird.

Abhishek is not even someone with a habit of WTH comments. I would even say he's less sexist than his wife.

Not every sentence that comes out of someone's mouth is evidence of bigotry. Sometimes, a cigar is just a cigar.

Yeah. On one hand, we want them to acknowledge their privilege. On the other, he gets bashed because he did and it happened to be his father's name. 😆

This was in no way patriarchal, he said he respects the name acknowledging that what he is today is because of that name, he is very aware of his privilege. Forget Bachchan, many people are proud of their legacy and surname and there is nothing wrong about that. Aaradhya is a product of a huge legacy her great grandfather, grandparents and parents are all famous personalities that is a lot of pressure on her whether she wants to or not, I like that both her parents are making sure that she is aware of her privilege to respect that at the same time to be her own person

As far as not talking about his mother, yes Jaya is famous but the privilege of the family is because of Harivansh and Amitabh and that is what he is saying, i don't think we should read too much into everything that people say. Everything that you speak or do not speak is a problem nowadays

The interviewer almost makes it feel like Abhishek grew up like satte pe Satta , without any women in the family.

Makes Big b sound like a single parent who raise 2 children alone.😆

This so much. Abhi and Aish seem to be great parents.

@Voldy, I gotta wonder if you did reverse psychology on us 😆
